That said, I am now spending waaaay too long on the site. It is weird there because people take you seriously and actually care what you think because you can influence their livelyhood.

It's a critique of a extremely important aspect of a commentary. Now if incontrol had said something like: Wow Klazart's commentary sucks because his mother is a whore that would be an ad hominem attack...but inc didn't say that. I didn't direct it at Incontrol. Its ludicrous to say that its fallacious to attack a commentator because of his voice. Directing it at others. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Would you TL'ers mind taking a look at the book and voting for it if you think it deserves it? http://www.authonomy.com/ViewBook.aspx?bookid=7578 Just click "back the book" to vote. I've made it this far, so close now, need to get to the top 5 and stay there for a week. Would really appreciate any help! Thanks. Klaz.

I think you should delete this post and repost it later on in the week. Remember what one of your detractors said: you are winning the sprint, but this competition is a marathon.

Remember what one of your detractors said: you are winning the sprint, but this competition is a marathon. lots of people say lots of things. Not all of it is true. I still need to get into the top 5 and stay there as I might not have another chance. I'm still gonna keep working on the marathon side of things, but this won't stop that. P.s. have you voted for me yet?

Now I have turned my energies to writing a book in order to increase the value of my vote (and because I've always wanted to write but never had the impetus). I have just written one of the biggest loads of crap in my existence. If I persist and it reaches several pages in length, it might actually end up being funny and I'll post it here. Unfortunately once you've already voted then increasing your TSR won't make a difference, it will only help for books you vote for afterwards. But thank you for the effort! If you know anyone else who might be interested please spread the word. The more votes I can get, the more the publishers will take notice.

What happens if I remove my vote for you then vote again? It would be funny if the coding of the site couldn't deal with that, but I expect that it can since it is the easiest scam to pull off. (so I won't do it)

We accepted your request to take down our joke books to not harm you or that site, but this is not the place to solicit more votes. You've been very reasonable and even apologetic to Authonomy up until now, but do you really think after all that's been said in this thread, now is the time to shamelessly plug your book and ask for more votes? Anyone that has read this thread already understands how to read your book and vote for it if needed, there's no need to continuously ask. The right to blatantly solicit votes is reserved only for longtime vets or contributors, or for polls related to StarCraft. This is not your private YouTube channel. We will close this thread if you use it as just a vehicle for your own personal reasons. Do you think it'd be appropriate if you started a thread here titled "Vote for my book!" and write what you've written? It'd be closed instantly.

Fair enough. I thought since this thread was already on the subject, it would be acceptable. Since it's not I'll stop. Also Harper Collins officially said that they were happy for me to plug the book and it was within the rules, which I why I've resumed promoting/asking for votes. Apologies if I broke the rules.

Rather, there are more extreme and severe fellow Authonomy members of yours who we are referring to; unfortunately, only a small handful of them have decided to try to engage in discussion outside of their own forum. I know hunny, I was just trying to give my reasons and perspective behind some pull-outs. What's happened has really only confirmed to some of us that have been there a long time that it really is time to try something new and different. That there was a lot of crap going on long before Klazart appeared, and what's happened actually hasn't changed our minds, just confirmed what we already knew. Yes, some folk are leaving in anger. Me, I'm more philosophical about it, and I'm not pulling out immediately. Because as people are pointing out, there are new readers there now. But the system does really only work as a popularity contest. Klaz's attempt for glory is just the latest new wrinkle, If you look around in the threads you will find reference to the concept of Disney Shelvings. People spinning through books faster than the speed of light, leaving two or three line relatively generic comments and shelving books for five minutes each. That was the previous system breaker. Before that, it was the spam messages "read my book". I created a second identity on there for my collaboration novel with my writing partner. Within half an hour, I had fifteen messages from people who had swooped on the "newbie" about reading their book. Even though I had made it perfectly clear that "A K Levecque" was me and my writing partner! I was curious, so I came to engage. Some folk are not quite so open, they find it a lot more difficult to talk to people about things outside their comfort zone. Me, I'll talk to anyone about anything... The games I play are on my X Box and not online, and I had never heard of Starcraft until the weekend. But I was extremely curious to know more about the folk who devotedly follow it. So devotedly that they were prepared to follow a guy into a different genre based on their enjoyment of his commentaries on their game.
