I don't ask you to understand the text, but could anyone tell me if its any good from a technical standpoint (I don't know that much about rap myself)? I mean both DJ'ing and MC'ing technique here as I haven't really heard anything alike ever (even though the style they adapt makes a lot more sense in context with the lyrics). In terms of production and delivery it sounds very Wu Tang influenced to me (RZA, their producer did some of the most influential stuff of the 90's), like to my ears it's not too far away from sounding like it's coming off of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx which has some of the most memorable and awesome beats ever. On the more more indie/experimental "out there" (and also paranoid--coming from the lyrics also) bent, the Def Jux label and the producer El-P's style came to mind (which is a sound that was definitely highly influenced by the brooding Wu Tang style, it jumped off from there to make really crazy sound textures to use as beats) Personally I like it but as a "sometimes" style. I can't wallow in paranoia all the time. So I'll also post this: | ||

Alright man I don't really care for rap/hip-hop (I know there's differences yadyayaaTHEFUCKEVERMAN) but this kid is fucking amazing. Just about every song he's come out with (Culdesac+) is so good. | ||
