[Pocket Fel Spreader] Why would anybody pay 115 euros for a pretty mediocre toy? Oh not 1 I've sold at least 50 they're pretty easy to farm with the PGF addon Most people are just farming them wrong and joining those big 40-man raids camping all the doomsayers which is extremely inefficient
Aha. I've seen people actually trying to sell them for more than that amount (400k) though they're going for an order of magnitude less on my server now AFAIK
Not a fan of realmhop addon BS myself

Weird I remember the first Tuesday the patch hit they were that high but by Wednesday they had dropped below 50k on my server and at this point they're varying between 4-7k
Needless to say this is the richest I've ever been and the amount of effort I've had to put into farming these is so little, the only thing you really have to worry about is the group filling up before you get invited (lots of people are doing this which is why you need PGF addon or you'll never be able to queue for an invite in time) and trolls listing groups without actual dreadlords up

Wow I just got surprised by some misunderstanding of the transmog system. There's a one hand sword I wanted for my Frost DK, attainable from a PvP vendor for five tokens. I win the most BG's by healing, so I got 5 tokens on my Monk and went ahead and bought the sword on my monk, thinking it won't make any difference who buys it, since unlocking the appearance for a one hand sword will unlock it for any character on my account that can use a one hand sword (WW and MW can use one hand swords). But it didn't unlock for my DK. It is an agility sword but I've got other agility and intelligence weapons unlocked for my DK. And now that this happened, I realized that my DK has more sword appearances available than my Monk. So they each have some that the other doesn't have. What is the rule here that I'm missing? If I get 5 more tokens and buy the sword with my DK, will my DK be able to transmog it?
edit: I went on my Monk and equipped it both as WW and MW and went back on my DK and I could transmog it. IDK what was going on. The basic confusion is still kind of there because my DK has access to three more one hand sword transmogs than my monk does. I thought they should have the same. But at least it's not an immediate problem anymore.

Pretty sure they are in the most right building in the Valley of Honor.

Class-restricted swords (i.e. DK starting weapons) won't show up for Monk, I forget if DK has any class-restricted 1hers. Shadowmourne (if there's a 1h version) also can't be equipped by Monks. That's all I can really think of atm.

I think there's also something a little weird about when exactly the appearance registers for every character on the account.

Myself and another have collectively made 3m+ gold (1.5+ each) selling heroic archimonde carries in the last month. I kinda wish i kept a spreadsheet. All together I think its close to 3.5m or some such. I was around 700k server before we started selling, and I'm over 2.1m now. We aren't even being that hardcore about it. I have 125 heroic arch kills total, and I forgot how much of that was from regular guild farming.
Also requires very little effort if you got a premade set up correctly with 15 people from 15 diff servers with a 15 minute timer between pulls, but trying to pug sells was a pain. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/8Yt4q7a1RZhby3jf#fight=16&type=damage-done https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/kTV2X8zRb4gatAqJ#fight=16&type=damage-done etc

I can't get the invasion glaives to register even though my DH has them literally equipped.

I know a couple guys who made 20 million gold each. That's like 6000 euro equivelant and i think it's terrible for the game to have economy so focused on buying/selling boosts - it's #2 on my list for stuff that shouldn't happen in an ideal game.

Also shadows are still behaving weirdly

look at FPS counter. This is the lowest shadow setting vs the second lowest.. 70% FPS drop
level 1 shadows = 448fps level 2 shadows = 136fps level 6 shadows = 120fps while looking 10x better than lvl 2 shadows
setting shadows from level 1 to 2 causes GPU load to triple

Is it any different than playing the AH and making millions?
|
United Kingdom20275 Posts
Playing the AH doesn't transfer as much wealth. Quite a few guilds not even in the top 1000 are counting their wealth in tens of millions with top guilds reaching the hundreds of millions. It just prevents more interesting things from happening in the economy when it could be a nice part of the game otherwise
|
The economy is already destroyed. Want gold? Unless you can crank out 4-5k/hour or more, you are better off working for minimum wage and selling tokens. Busy job? It most likely pays way better and a few hours of overtime in the weekend can make you a million gold.

We really don't have numbers for this sort of thing but i can't even imagine the scale of the wealth transfer from boost sellers
|
There are two edges to that argument. On one hand it does mean casual people generate more gold, but what about crafting? Minimal profit margins throughout the first part thanks to all the easy to grab materials and everything being gated by daily cooldowns. People grabbed cheap Alchemical Catalysts off the AH, crafted the BoP trinket and vendored it for profit, that's how bad it was. Crafting only saw a resurgence after more details about Legion got announced (and I'm sure the movie brought more fresh blood too) and players returned in big numbers.
People who used to fork out gold from crafting simply swapped to the alt spam garrison method, in part because it was guaranteed. JC hut was 200-300g/char, stacking Treasure Finders and Scavangers (and converting GR to mats via trade post) brought 1-2k/day/char at least, more when you had the big ticket missions that were char bound till HFC.

eve online has a very solid economy and its the same there, you need to remember that buying gold with tokens doesnt create gold.

When you list a token on the AH you immediately get the gold price that you listed it for, while the eventual buyer pays the up-to-date price. This can be lower or higher then what the seller received so it can create or remove gold.

It doesn't add or remove a lot of gold but it's a powerful player in the economy. A lot of people buy gold from people (giving subscriptions) and then hand that gold to boosters. Through that chain many people are giving chunks of gold to boosters without being otherwise directly involved.
To be clear, i don't think the buying gold is the main problem - it's just a major player in other economy issues right now

Not really part of the point but you get that gold when somebody pays, you just don't neccesarily get the same amount that they paid. It can take many hours to sell a token

Dont care about any of that. The relevant thing about the WoW tokens is that thanks to this WoW has become f2p apart from the initial cost for the expansion. You actually need to invest way less time to keep WoW f2p than you need for "real" f2p games like Hearthstone, LoL etc which is hilarious.
The whole thing works because some people dont care about spending more real money (just like in f2p games) so that there can be freeloaders that just need to invest a little extra time in game. I think its great.
And Blizzards advantage is that they get 50% extra for every month game time that is purchased with gold via token since they are 20 € instead of the usual 13.
