His dps is also pretty meaningless since the instance scales. he hits mobs of 101 ilvl for 5% hp and your logs see the 110 level mob lose 5%.
800+ BoE gear that can be worn by a 101 lvl character does not exist I believe.

The quests for the Pillars of Creation all reward 800 iLvl gear regardless of your current level, so that's 4 pieces right there. Outside of that I'm not aware of any way to get gear that high at level 101 unless you got supremely lucky off a quest.

I assumed he was only "farming" it slowly, without AK, because he never planned to put the character at 110. Otherwise it'd be a colossal waste of time like you said.
Comparing dps is meaningless sure. I know he wasn't "doing" 1 mil, but thanks to mob and stat scaling of course the (relative) damage you're doing at level 101 with avg ilvl 820 is massive.
He had many 820-830 pieces, purples, and a couple blues. His avg ilvl had to have been 800+. I've no idea how he got them at 101, that's why I asked... Even the quest rewards, like the Pillars quests mentioned above, are blue. He had 1.5M hp at 101, so our first thought was "he must have a lot of WoD raid gear or something?" but that stuff isn't even close to ilvl 800. I'm KICKING myself right now for not taking screenshots or writing his name down for armory

I think that a lot of stuff does require 101 rather than 110 while dropping at high ilvls. It's pretty expensive though, i checked when i was leveling my second char and wasn't gonna pay 200k for faster leveling

Uh they definitely do. You can get like ilvl 840 overall on a 101 char. And the dps isnt really meaningless. It's as you said, you see how much he contributes to killing the mob on your level. But yeah he probably bullshitted you about the ap farming. Edit: If theres one thing prydaz is good for, its getting high ranks on healing as tank. Almost all my parses are 95% on healing :D
Edit2: Im on a dead server and there's already a lot of shit. If you search for this on kazzak or twisting nether i bet you can find even higher items. Just search for max lvl 101 and epic gear.

Man doing +15 this week has been so annoying for me. Since I did not have +15 achievement no group would take me despite great equip. And then when making my own group to level up a key it was so hard to find decent players. All have high item lvl now so that does not tell you anything. Had a 898 player that had never completed a +10 and his Warcraftlogs showed him around 10% on the few NH hc bosses he did. That was the only one I kicked though, otherwise I was too much of a good guy and went with players I knew would suck. Worst thing was finding tanks though. Always waiting 20 mins or more so I settled with a tank that had done a +10 as his best for +14 EoA. Though luckily that guy was fine.
Idk player quality in M+ seems to have dropped a lot. Maybe it is because players that have maxed out their artefact do not play anymore, maybe it is because of the item lvl surge. Or I just have to do my M+ earlier in the week next time.

Most of my really good mythic+ friends (15-20 clears) are in nighthold all day every day

Did only a single M+ last week for +15 and this week only enough to get it.

You really have to armory ilvl since the group finder tool includes all their legendaries.
I saw a 903 tank.. equipped ilvl was 887.
I'm 894 and equipped is 894 cause I haven't won the legendary RNG game.

jesus... pure haste and socket.

If that thing was Mastery, you could sell it Millions of gold. For real.

5ilvls below TF cap, socket, one stat only - it's BIS for some specs

Haste is just as good for some classes as mastery is so if the millions are there for mastery they are there for haste,.

Lots more people going after pure Mastery tho. Not sure any specs likes Haste like an Arms Warrior like Mastery for example.

I'm not aware of any for ST but some have really imbalanced stat scaling for AOE
On the new PTR build we seem to have tokens called "Unidentified <class> legendary" that can be opened for whatever loot spec you select - finally a fix to allow changing of lootspecs without getting legendaries in the wrong spec? A welcome change, if so :D
Sounds good but i hope we get some changes and clarity to aquisition time and RNG as well.
One of the worst examples there would be multi-speccing - if you already have 5 legendaries and you're playing Fire but you want to play Frost, you have a few options:
Option A; change lootspec to frost, wait for legendary #6 which will be frost. Will take a long time and then you have 1 frost legendary
Option B; make a new mage and stay frost spec, this char will get 3-4 frost legendaries in the same amount of time (so 8-9 legendaries total instead of 6)
This is a problem because the "legendary catchup" is character-based, not spec based as far as i know. If it were changed to be spec based, you could respec and get the initial few legendaries for the new spec very quickly and without negatively impacting your main spec because the droprates would be independant. Since this catchup already exists on new characters i think that the benefits and removal of anti-fun gameplay (making a new char even of the same class when you don't want to because it's too much of an advantage) would be well worth it.
Some guidance so that you can get specific legendaries in a more controlled way instead of potentially getting the one you want 10'th would be great too. With the droprate system the amount of legendaries are not as random as many people believe but the specific legendary and sequence of legendaries that you do get is just a dice roll which can take a thousand hours or more to average out into a normal amount of power or fun
I like the idea of different items which influence playstyle overall, the implementation just needs work.

If we go from ak25 to ak40 (datamined) with current scaling per AK we'll be going from ~300k AP to ~9 million AP per dungeon with a weapon-AP level reaching the billions, 70m won't put much of a dent in that.

Demo warlocks are on the stack haste above all else plan. Not sure about the numerical weights though.
