added my battlenet, actually starting to get so sick of pugging groups, performed at 98% percentile on our heroic EN raid this week, but because my ilvl isnt 870+++ its impossible to get into any higher mythics than +5

why is WoWs community so shit :/

Pugging anything as a DPS is a terrible idea unless you're way better geared+skilled than the vast majority of people that are queuing

It's still pretty shit pugging with the best gear available but it's doable if you're happy taking half of the loot per hour that you'd get with a top tier premade

I find that it's hard to care about ilvl %, it can be good for judging skill but a top 5% rogue in 865ilvl cannot even match an average rogue in 878 gear according to WCL - developing your character and even having the potential to perform your role well is as much a part of the game as playing well at the time

It is not that easy to find some fixed group though. People that are interested in playing in fixed groups mostly already have their groups. And especially casual players that are online for 1 or 2 hours at random times can not sync up with others as they would have to. They have to play with random players they just happen to find, that is just the way it is.

So pugging is the standard for 5 man dungeons, fixed groups are the exception overall.

I think it's more of a psycological issue, many people seem to treat raids as the only content worth grouping for and lump mythic+ in with randomqueue irrelevant dungeons because that's what they're used to seeing.

If the game launched brand new today i don't think that weird split would exist; especially as organized raiding is MUCH more time intensive and annoying than organized dungeons. More people, more time..

Talking from my perspective in a pretty average guild (EN hc clear, not enough decent players to do mythic) its is more that people simply do not play much M+. There is one fixed group of 5/6 players that does M+. Most others do their 2 weekly raids and then maybe one dungeon per day or none at all. And honestly I often prefer to play with well geared randoms over those.

That happens sometimes when you have yourself a guild full of raiders specifically, i wouldn't join one without tanks/healers that play the game outside of raids for that reason - having a few WOD-style login-raid-logout players as your main tanks will severely limit your gameplay outside of raids

I've been in a mostly fixed group myself but it was for lack of choice more than anything else

Yeah that is pretty much it. On top of that the M+ players do not join the raid because they have better gear from there anyway so we can not raid mythic.

It's still worth clearing heroic and normal weekly because of the legendary droprate + multiplier being unusually high even if warforging didn't exist. I have an 880 and an 885 relic from heroic elerethe

Well or they do not want to invest the time for raids on top of dungeons, what do I know. And that is kind of the thing with the system in Legion compared to WOD. Of course it is possible to sink way more time in it than in WOD, but many simply do not want to do that. So they choose either dungeon or raid. Of course it is way better for hardcore players now.

My biggest issue with mythic+ is how garbage the balance is. I'm never going into a high m+ without a boomie again. Tyrannical bosses can straight up 1shot players on 10 or 11 so if you don't have a CR or two in the group (or stack immunity classes) you can't make the timer unless lucky.

Why ever take a priest or a shaman? Even mages seem meh most of the time.

Mages are great for M+, Boomy is straight up undertuned since 7.0 (mediocre ST, bad AOE, not enough to compensate for it) and shadow is one trick pony. I have not actually played with a good enh shaman yet but they should be decent AFAIK

I've cleared through +10 as a holy priest, hasn't been too bad finding groups with my 870+ ilvl

Boomkins are not even in the top of dps classes I would bring to Mythic+ if i'm stupid about classes.

(In no particular order), Dps Monk, Fire Mage(haven't seen frost/arcane yet so I can't really judge), Enh Shaman, Hunter(BM or MM don't care) are the best i'd say.

I do like my Frost DK friend who has CR and pretty good damage and I usually run with
Enh Shaman
Unholy DK
Frost DK
Disc Priest (me)
Bear Druid

Or on My hunter

Enh Shaman
MM hunter(me)
Blood DK
Frost DK
Holy Paladin.

Mostly though its about the player, classes will only matter if you get to +15 or try to push timers I think, I have completed 10 with a Shadowpriest as well. As long as you have people who are adeqautely geared and know what they are doing then its not really an issue, sure some classes will be favoured but I heard it was way worse with challenge modes in MoP.

Shadowpriest actually gets decent/ok in the higher myths, still not top and ae remains weak but at least i'm not the burden i'm in +3-5.

Shadowpriests pull some of the highest single target DPS on Myth+ bosses I think, which makes them especially strong for tyrannical. I've seen them pull upwards of 700kDPS. I agree however, that boomkins are lackluster on high myth+.

Im gonna go ahead and defend on how amazing laser chickens are:
Combat res
Treants that act like a 5-6 sec stun (since they taunt trash mobs to them)
Solar Beam (downright amazing against caster packs, great for stacking annoying caster mobs into stun range without mass grip/DH sigil)
Typhoon can work as an emergency aoe interrupt
Insane burst
Innervate (saves a ton of healer downtime with good communication)

Damage is not the sole factor for running high mythics smoothly.

It kinda is though.

Regardless of lack of finesse, a group that rolls their faces on their keyboards and just AoEs everything down asap before shit hits the fan will make it further than a group properly using stuns and interrupts for every cast.

You're not making an m+10 on time by stunning mobs. You do it by doing big, fast and consecutive pulls with minimal downtime. Hell a death here and there, or even a wipe or two, doesnt even matter with good DPS.

Unfortunately a Monk doing 500-800k dps on trash will beat out a Boomkin no matter what utility the Boomkin brings

and the monk can stun too.

The tools that a Boomkin can bring are nice but do not offset the amount of lost dps that you have which is the most important factor in the end when it comes to making timers.

doesnt matter, unless youre cutting it close and have problems on bosses. the 20 seconds a shadow shaves off of a bossfight is not overweighting the 2 or 3 minutes you lose in overall dmg. Besides, someone still has to ress the shadow and then he has to eat again etc. Ive been watching some serenity streams and sometimes they run with a shadow. Hes top dps on boss but then the streamer switches to Overall dps and you see the hunter and mage have 400-500k and the shadow sitting on 300. Thats a lot of time wasted that could have been saved by a demon hunter or enhancer.
That said, having the mindblast and mindsear legs probably changes things a bit and shadow becomes a bit more viable in dungeons that have medium sized groups like court of stars or nelths lair.
