I can think of a time he did.... Who knows what effect Graham will have on that offense. Obviously Wilson isn't going to be slinging it, but they've also never had a receiver as good as Graham since who the hell knows when.

The only point I might even remotely consider it is when you're filling bench slots but at that point I am more interested in taking high risk high reward players that might surprise and become outright starters vs a one week filler. I could get that off waiver any time. Depending on your overall scoring (ie. .5 or 1pt ppr?, 6td passing, etc, what positions, etc) and who your keeper was I think you are underrating your team. This team is much better if it's 2WR than 3WR. I'd be happy with Forte and Hill in a ppr. I also think Ivory is a steal in the 7th and I am mad that I didn't grab him in any of my drafts. He has zero competition and ran well in the same shitty offense while splitting time. Now he's pretty much the unquestioned lead RB. I think 1000yds 8td and 30 catches is realistic. If you have a flex he'll probably start at it. If your keeper wasn't an elite WR you are gonna be hurting at WR. Tate's really the only reliable player you have. Independently, I think all the WRs you selected are good high risk high reward picks, esp pairing Allen with Rivers. Tate I think is a solid #2. I think Landry and Allen have a decent shot at being #2s in a 12 man league, but they're at the very worst #3 WRs I think. Landry will be better in a PPR league. The rest of your WRs are guys who might evolve into starting WRs, but will probably be WR4s or so otherwise. While I like your RBs, I don't think they're that good to make up for a ho hum wr group (at least right now). QB is actually totally fine imo. You can just play match ups with those two and come out fine. TE is ok but the DEF and K are pretty solid. That was my intention after I saw the way the first couple rounds played out. The Keepers were all top tier WRs and the first picks were the Second tier of WRs so I took the Value in Forte and Hill and planned to stock up on someone consistent along side Tate(See Landry) after that pick I tried to pick WRs that will see the field a lot and could develop into WR2s or 3s. If Allen preforms as well as Rivers says he did in camp I think I'm ok. Williams, Wheaton and Parker all provide huge upside if they find roles in their offense. Especially Parker and Wheaton. Victor Cruz is still an FA in my league along side Antonio Gates. When they get closer to seeing the field I might look into them. Also David Johnson is available. Our League is also 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1Q/W/R/T 1K 1DEF With 1 per reception with everything else looking relatively standard(6 per rushing/receiving TD).

1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1FLEX 1D/ST 1K 7 BE (bench?) I'm already googling away and reading on nfl.com, but I'm unsure how to make a strategy for the draft. Can anyone give any pointers for a good strategy? I'll be grateful for anything, even simple stuff like "RBs first are a good idea" (is it?). EDIT: Also, I wouldn't mind hearing some punny team-names :p

Hawks have overextended themselves. Well we already did pay Kam. We gave him a $28 million 4-year extension. I believe the team thought that this meant it was done and we'd only have to worry about this 3 years down the road. His deal at the time was top notch for strong safeties and he's still being paid extremely well for his position, though much of it isn't guaranteed. Then there's also the part where giving into his demands sets a terrible precedent, even if we did have the money to do so. We already had Marshawn holding out, though that's all good now. We had Michael Bennett holding out too, that's still a pending issue even if he's been reporting in. How many other players would start skipping camp if we rewarded guys for holding out? It sucks because we love Kam and we can see why he's unsatisfied with his contract, but we can't give in to pressure because that might just mean more trouble later. We'll be drafting 09.09.2015 at 2 PM ET (snake draft, random order) so I have less than 24 hours preparation. Our team-compostion should be: 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1FLEX 1D/ST 1K 7 BE (bench?) I'm already googling away and reading on nfl.com, but I'm unsure how to make a strategy for the draft. Can anyone give any pointers for a good strategy? I'll be grateful for anything, even simple stuff like "RBs first are a good idea" (is it?). EDIT: Also, I wouldn't mind hearing some punny team-names :p Well it would be beneficial to know your scoring system. Your lineup is very conventional so that gives us a good start. Personally, I'd target any of these guys in my top 8 (first round): Adrian Peterson Le'Veon Bell Eddie Lacy Marshawn Lynch Antonio Brown Matt Forte Jamaal Charles Demariyus Thomas Andrew Luck Aaron Rodgers In your first round, you'll probably be able to take any of these guys and be fine. Now, if you want to take it a bit deeper, 5 of those guys are RBs, but you need more RBs so it's always safe to pick up a bit of depth. However, if you start to dip into RBs that aren't that good just to get one, you risk losing value because you're doing what's called "picking at the end of a run". For example, if you're the 6th guy in a row to pick a RB to start the draft, you're likely at an inherent disadvantage because everyone else got the same position as you did but a better one. To counteract this, I like to zig when others are zagging. If everyone is piling on at RB I like to be the first one to grab a receiver (took Antonio Brown as the first non-RB in my 8 team league at 6 overall). The other major strategy point I would give is that if your league plays in a PPR (points per reception, where anyone who catches a pass gets a point for the catch on top of the rest of the points) league, you want to value the top end receivers more highly than you would ordinarily. In this case, I'd take Brown 1st overall and treat the WRs as equal to the RBs. Some advanced tips: -If you don't get Rob Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham, you can probably wait until a later round to pick a TE. I would target some high upside TEs such as Delanie Walker, Jordan Cameron, or Owen Daniels if I was going to employ this strategy (I did in one league, riding with Daniels, though this is super risky). -If you don't get Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, or maybe Peyton Manning, you can wait until a later round to pick a TE. I would target any one of the following if it's late enough: Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Ryan Tannehill (THIS IS THE GUY YOU WANT). Some of those guys will be gone earlier, but when people start taking their second QBs, take your first if you don't get one of the first three. -Wait until the last two rounds to pick defenses and kickers. Kickers you want: Stephen Gostkowski, Justin Tucker, Cody Parkey, Dan Bailey, really it doesn't matter. The difference is negligible. -With defenses, you can do what is called streaming, where you pick up a new one every weak if they're playing a bad team. This allows you to not waste an early pick on an overrated defense when they'll not be much better than this streaming strategy. Defenses to target are the Carolina Panthers (playing Jacksonville, the team you always want to have the opposing defense of) and the New York Jets (playing Cleveland). Last piece of advice: Have some fun! People get too serious about fantasy football and forget that we all play this silly game to have a good time.

EDIT: We ended up being 2 short as people didn't show up, so my beautiful spreadsheet will have to find use next year instead. Thanks for the help though - seems like it could be a lot of fun.

At what round would you pull the trigger on i.e. Gronk? Also, am I overrating Romo? I think with Dez and that o-line he should be able to be decently productive (i.e. better than Rivers?) I'm not a Gronk supporter because I think you have to pay too much for the upside at the pick you take him. Best case he provides a bit more than the pick you took him (like 12-15 overall) and worst case he hurts himself. Again. I don't like Romo this year for a few reasons, few of which have to do with him. First, the running game will not be as good this year, it just can't be. Second, he had crazy efficiency stats last year on fewer attempts. I could see him chucking it a ton this year (550+ attempts versus like 450 last year) but the efficiency will drop, limiting the upside, and he was still only like 11th last year. For the price you probably have to pay to get him, he's not worth it, but if he drops, sure, go right ahead. He and Rivers are of the class where it is really dependent on who of the middling QBs gets picked, then you poach the rest. The kind of guy I don't want is the Matt Ryan type, who's going in like the 65ish range. That kind of guy is the one who has you finish in 4th place: consistent, but not good enough to validate not waiting until the 13th and picking Jay Cutler or some other guy.

All my losses that year were by < 10 points and most of my wins were pretty solid. I finished the year off with Tony Romo but missed the playoffs by 1 game. I had Ryan the year the Falcons went 4-12 so he was just doing pretty poor. I actually missed out bad on that season because of Doug Martin (2013)

Coxson leaves field in ambulance with concussion >>> some time later GB drops him >>> about a month later he comes out and says he's retiring. seems to me he just got dropped, then couldn't find another team to pick him up....so he makes an excuse for not being very good.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000525338/article/eli-manning-giants-finalizing-4year-84m-extension Eli Manning is about to get his wish. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Giants and Manning are finalizing a four-year, $84 million extension that could be signed by Friday, according to sources close to the situation. Every game, all season Rapoport reported Wednesday that significant progress had been made in negotiations and optimism had grown that a deal would be in place before the Giants open the season on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The deal is similar to recent extensions given to Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Manning's $21 million average per year salary would come in slightly behind Wilson ($21.9 million) and just ahead of Rivers (20.8 million). Aaron Rodgers ($22 million) is the NFL's highest-paid signal-caller. No big-money extension is a sure thing as an investment, but Manning, 34, is pretty close. He has never missed a start in 11 seasons, has nearly every Giants passing record and, of course, owns two Super Bowl MVP awards. His agent, Tom Condon, made the fair point that Manning's unflappable nature in the New York spotlight is a factor in negotiations. Whether or not he should be regarded as one of the game's top quarterbacks, the Giants are thrilled to stay in business with one of their shining sons. Seems kinda cheap for a 2 time superbowl champ in todays market...
