If it's 1 QB, it's Rodgers, Luck, and maybe Manning and then I don't care at all, as long as I don't have Jameis Winston or something. Basically confirms what we thought, but we have to be sure.

Anyone else find non-nationally televised games to often have a relatively poor level of commentary? Or has the quality of most esports events just set the bar higher for me?

I'm not after crazy hype (in either esports or sports) but I just expect a higher level when watching an NFL game!

I was woefully underprepared for this years draft, and I must admit I literally had NO idea who the fuck he was until I drafted him 8th overall because I'm a panicky weakling and saw he was the next RB on most lists. I think 8th overall you get more value from one of the top wrs, qb, or gronk there. CJ is 2nd tier rb for sure. The drop from any of those other positions to the next ranked guy is larger. I'm at 5 in my draft tonight. i'm hoping bell falls and I'll roll the dice with that suspension. picks 2 and 3 are hairy at that spot.

More and more, I'm leaning against Gronk in the first. Every time I run it in a mock, I end up hating my team.

Right, but you're not just taking Gronk, you're taking Gronk + a tier 2/3 RB/WR next. The ceiling on TE is so low that even if Gronk kills every other TE, the gap is still only 2/3 of the gap between RBs. The standard deviation of the top 12 RBs in ESPN standard last year was 42. TE was 27 and QB was 30. Interestingly, WR was only 26, but in PPR it would've been a lot higher. Gronk is like getting an extra tier 2.5 WR, but to do so you're missing out on a tier 1 RB/WR. The opportunity cost is just so high. I think he's a good 2nd round pick, but his ADP is too high at 1.x. I think people are too focused on how dominant he is, and not paying enough attention to the absolute value of that dominance. Now, you can make an argument that Gronk is easier to predict as the #1 at his position than Antonio Brown and Demarco Murray were last year, but you can still make some very safe picks with guys like Dez or Charles and even if they're #4/5 at their position, the gap will be larger than the gap among TEs. My league is doing IDP this year and now that I'm looking through the numbers, it's actually pretty stupid. JJ Watt broke everything last year (way more than Gronk), but after that you just take the LB on your favorite team and call it a wash. It's even less interesting than defense/kickers.

Here's the deal: You're not going to be able to find a TE of that caliber, and having that extra help from a position that normally doesn't score that much is great. RBs/WRs rise and fall throughout the season and you have a decent shot of claiming one off the waiver wire. If you can get yourself a T1 RB/WR through waivers and have such an impactful TE, that's a recipe for success. That being said I wouldn't take him before 10th overall I think.
