Thank GOD I've got my own football season to get me through 'till pre-season!
edit: thought I'd add this :D
Awesome man. I'm always really intrigued and curious when other non-North American countries play/have American football leagues.
Yeah, I never would have imagined it was as big as it is (which is still relatively small). Here's a list of IFAF countries btw http://ifaf.org/countries/federation_list
That much closer to getting it into the Olympics. But would it be a summer or winter game?
Summer, no chance you get any pros taking time from the NFL. Unless the US wanted to go college ball. It also would end up like Softball where one team always wins and so nobody watches from other countries.
I don't think there's any chance even NCAA programs would want guys leaving for the summer and risking injury. Only chance would be ex-pros / undrafted guys trying to get signed etc - and even then the only competition would be for the spots after gold.
Coaches wouldn't want players to leave, but institutions would (at least guys that aren't likely to go pro). What college wouldn't want to brag about 'producing' Olympic athletes? Not to mention they would eat the exposure up like hotcakes.
Do the international teams just use whatever the current season rules are or do they have their own house rules/reffing like monopoly?
IFAF rules are pretty close (if not identical) to NCAA (rule changes usually lag behind a year).
grandpa gates getting popped after becomign resurgent on his back 9 is like the least surprising thing. i mean i just pretty much automatically assume that any non qb/kicker who becomes good again in their 30s is on something.
the ncaa definitely would not want their free labor to go work for free for someone else. not that they should go anyway. the us would fucking curbstomp everyone even if other nations put adults vs our college kids. It wouldn't even be remotely close or entertaining.

Well international doping testing is a bit better than what the American organizations do, so I assume you would have difficulty actually fielding a team.
Luckily for us, our righteous advantage shall be maintained once the rest of the EU gets pulled down the drain with Greece and no one has a budget to even field a team of weak, girly-man, euro-boy, soccer rejects.
But for reals though, you think the tournament would be even mildly entertaining? It's not an international sport like basketball or hockey or soccer.
it would be less interesting than the women's basketball tournament with how lopsided the games would be. It would probably be a pain in the ass for most host nations to prep facilities. I know when they've sent or tried to send football games abroad in the past some of the soccer venues' fields aren't actually big enough to accommodate endzone and sideline space. It's not like if they built a football specific venue that many countries would even use it after.

Yeah, facilities could be an issue... however, I don't think this is played anywhere in the states, but at lest in Finland we also have 7v7 tackle football (take away 2 linemen and 2 skill players). It's played on a slightly smaller field. I could see something like that eventually being easier for short international tournaments (read: Olympics)... Rugby has posed some issues as an olympic sport that American football would also face. Will be interesting to see how 7s does in it's first summer olympics next year!
(note on 7v7 tackle football - it's not quite as strategically deep, but it's a LOT of fun to play!)
You'd have to make a world team of foreign born NFL players (Best I could Find) to stand a chance; and most of those are just people born on American military bases. Although they'd have their choice of good kickers.
I think we would have to get that London Pro team first, which is usually discussed this time of year. What are the odds on Canada getting a team besides the Bills?
London is dumb ass hell but I see no reason for Canada to not have a team since it could be clearly supported. I guess it's probably due to not wanting to upset CFL

My friend wore a redskin's jersey when we went to pick up fireworks and they loved it. I think it's internalized racism myself, but I don't really care one way or the other. I just think it's a funny way for a business to get hosed. They can use it all they want, they just can't protect it. So it will actually be the NFL that makes them change it so they can get a TM logo they can make money off of.
to bring in the bootleg gear is going to be the Redskins org because they can sell it with plausible deniability (if they even need it) on paying the NFL their share until they figure out a new set-up or fight some other appeal.

People do stupid shit with fireworks, some guy a few miles from me lit one off his head on the 4th. He wasn't getting paid millions a year to take care of his body though
Most expensive fireworks ever since he hadnt signed his new deal yet and the Giants already pulled it to adjust
Also I guess the NFL Top 100 2015 was finished being unveiled today if anyone is interested + Show Spoiler +

Players vote on who they think the 100 best are. It's meaningless overall but just a talking point during the offseason I guess
The NFL Top 100 is an annual list that features the top one hundred players in the National Football League (NFL), as chosen by fellow NFL players. The rankings are based on an off-season poll organized by the NFL, whereby players vote on their peers based on the performance of the previous season and their belief of how the player will perform in the coming season. So far, the #1 ranked player has always been the reigning MVP of the league except for in 2015.
