Teams run plays that look like the old run and shoot all the time with several receivers adjusting their routes on the fly, or once in a while they'll throw in a sweep play to a WR which is basically what the wildcat was, etc etc. Same with the spread offense plays, yeah you probably can't go full Urban Meyer on an NFL defense but things like packaged zone/bubble screen plays do work; same goes for the zone read, it's just a way to control the backside players just like a bootleg. Some teams just do a better job at incorporating those concepts than others. Kaep still sucks dick tho Yeah we are saying the same thing basically: they can work, but as a wrinkle in a larger offense, not something you run plays out of a majority of the time. The dolphins of last decade ran into problems when they started just running the WC every damn week. There's elements of the college schemes used across the board, but a lot of those unique formations have a reduced effectiveness in the pros because of the skill of the defenses and the difference in student athletes vs people who spend 40+ hours a week studying you and nothing else.. Something like the pistol is definitely usable, but you QB needs to be able to play well out of other formations, otherwise it gets predictable really fast. The Niners have a buttload of problems right now, and while playcalling and reliance on shitty simple plays is one, running out of the pistol would work a lot better if their QB could reliably make throws. Grab rg3 kaep and jonny football or who ever and go. If one goes down next one up. Be fun to watch! It would be fun to see some balls out stuff like that, but even something like that it's easy to shut down with responsible defenders. That happens time and time again in the NFL. It would never happened but just to settle the debate it would be cool to see a team do that and only that for a season

Those strategies just work less frequently when your dealing with a team of professionals vs a college squad. Not that they never work, it just takes more awareness to notice when you have a pass rusher not mindful of screens or whatever and then capitalize on it.

For example if you look at a blocking scheme for hours and hours it's very easy to find flaws in it unless it's been perfected by dozens of coaches before you (like the NFL plays are). I don't think the two factors are exclusive. I actually think they are one in the same issue. Like BJJ the less experienced your opponent the more opportunities there are to try things that simply wouldn't work against a more skilled opponent. So one can design an attack around ones opponents lack of experience with a particular issue. Clearly at the top of the game there are few "tricks" left, so you plan on winning by being better at something and exploiting that weak spot (to which great coaches adjust very rapidly). I think the physical and skill gaps in college being much larger in general plays a significant role in failed attempts to port college offenses to the NFL too.

Grab rg3 kaep and jonny football or who ever and go. If one goes down next one up. Be fun to watch! The main problem with this strategy is the difference in the quality of the defensive players in the NFL. As those types of plays are designed to take advantage of inexperience, lack of athleticism, and lack of focus of opponents rather than depending on superior execution. EX: Option run leaves the play side defensive end unblocked. If he bends inside to make a play on the running back the qb keeps it. If he contains to the outside qb hands the ball off to the running back. In theory this is a brilliant move to force defenses to account for the qb on running plays (11 vs 11) while conventional runs the qb is unaccounted for (11 vs 10). However, In traditional run cases play-action keeps the secondary from attacking the line of scrimmage sooner, linebackers are affected slightly by the threat of play action as well. In the read option since there is a free rusher play-action is almost eliminated as a threat as NFL defensive ends are expected to be able to bring down the qb as a free rusher. Also the secondary and linebackers can play the run much more aggressively depending on the offensive line movements early in the snap instead of having to wait for cues in the backfield which takes longer to develop. There are some in the NFL that still abide by a less qb-centric cap spending like the Rams. Jeff Fisher's regime generally likes to build around the offensive and defensive lines while featuring a strong running game. Due to the lack of big play potential and ability of this strategy, Fisher utilizes trick plays and special teams and reverses to throw the defense off balance. NFL has already experimented with a full option conversion with RG3, Tim Tebow, Colin Kaep, early Alex Smith, somewhat Mariota, Jim Mora Mike Vick, Raiders Pryor, ect, ect, ect. No doubt when the next extremely athletically gifted qb comes out we will see it in another form. In the end it ends in the qb converting to a pro style attack enough to be a serviceable mid-tier qb or barely play out the rookie contract career.

First, the commissioner has his own team, then his g/f also has a team that everybody knows is really just his 2nd team. then the week devonta freeman had his first big game the commissioner uses the league managers tool to circumvent the waivers and puts freeman on his g/f's team. Then a week later somebody offered his team a trade (which was kinda unfair but close to being a legit trade...) regardless our league has it so all the team owners can vote on trades as a veto power...but during the 3 days waiting period he used the league manager tools to change the rules so that teams can't vote on it, and instead the league commissioner had ultimate veto power on trades (essentially forcing his trade through). I complained and he changed it back but not until after the trade went through. Then this latest thing was completely ridiculous. 2 weeks ago i was in 2nd place behind his g/f's team (we were tied record, but she had the tiebreaker in points for). that week she lost, i won...i moved into first place. This week I lost (and if she won she'd take 1st place back). But she didn't update her lineup before the games and had 2 players on her team that had byes this week. b/c of that she lost her game. Today, he goes into the league manager tools and changed her players, giving her team the win..putting her back in first place and me into 2nd place. I seriously have no idea what to do about this. I'm obviously not playing in this league next year (which sucks b/c this is our 3rd year together). but nobody in this league cares at all about this shit. My brother is also in the league (it actually started as a group of my bro's WoW friends and i was invited b/c they needed an extra person) but every time i say something to him about it he just says "just whatever...dont say anything just let it go".. so i don't want to upset my bro's friendship with these guys but i'm pretty upset over this bs.

Unless it's not a paid league? If it isn't paid then just stop playing.

I for the life of me can't figure out why this is legal, but whatever, with the NFL and Jerry Jones behind Draftkings it probably will be around in some form for a while longer...

DFS is a funny system. Basically have to throw in some shlubs to your team and hope they randomly go off. Thanks for last week Steffon Diggs and Tavon Austin! But don't forget, it's all a game of skill...
