After they hit Calvin's fumble out of the end zone, it should've been 1st and goal inside the 1. I saw them do it but assumed it was a smart play by the defender... sucks that the refs don't know the rules better than I do! seriously?... FUCK!

Forward fumble rules combined with endzones sounds like there would be some specific rules. EDIT: uh oh, from SportsCenter: After Kam Chancellor forced the Calvin Johnson fumble near the goal line, KJ Wright batted the ball in the end zone over the back line. Wright's play was illegal, according to Dean Blandino, head of NFL officiating, and thus the Lions should have gotten the ball back at half yard line.

It's one of those games where the Lions didn't deserve to win, but the Hawks didn't deserve to win either. Someone should've just lit the field on fire.

Oops, looks like Pete Carroll has as-close-as-you-can-to acknowledged it: "It's a very unique situation ... It was a difficult ending for [Detroit], of course. ... It's unfortunate the officials didn't know how to deal with it." Heeeeee..... Oh... Well then.

I thought turnovers were reviewed by officials up top or something as well. There's still no review on penalties afaik... I've been watching the rugby world cup and their use of video review just seems so much better!

That being said, I'd be pissed if the situation was reversed.

How awful. Especially considering he could have just as easily scooped it up. I will be back to report how the local radio shows (Seattle here) spin this... Except Dave Grosby to call a spade a spade, the rest will be insisting that, "Well, it doesn't mean that Detroit WOULD have scored!" which while true, is meaningless because the point it that they did not receive said opportunity to score from the one yard line after that play.

Well conversely, they had an opportunity to possible sink Seattle's season (although Arizona's loss probably derailed that attempt anyway). If Seattle makes the playoffs by one game, you know everyone will just point back to this one.
