They put up databases online containing this information. A couple of people here have already mentioned the existence of these online databases. Next, little retard hacker downloads one of these databases. Third, he hacks PGTour and downloads the list of email addresses and corresponding MD5 password hashes. Then, he compares the players' password hashes to the pre-computed ones in the database he got online. He determines which MD5 hashes match the hashes for common words and phrases. Even though an infinite number of passwords could yield that same hash, it is VERY likely that the common words or phrase were indeed used. Finally, he uses the person's email address and the matching common words/phrase to attempt to log in to their PayPal account. If he's lucky, and the user used the same email and password for both PGTour and PayPal, then he gets in. To he honest, given how many users PGT has, I'm surprised he got ONLY 32 PayPal accounts in this way (unless he stopped searching after he was satisfied). | ||
