Hello TL community,
I was just wondering if there will ever be a MMR or ladder system in dota 2. I know that there is a "invisible" mmr but thats not really a big deal.. I'm a competitor and whenever I play a game, I want to be the best, I want to see who's the best and how I'm in comparison to pro players I'm really surprised that Valve hasn't still released this kind of features. HoN has a MMR system and LoL has a system like in Starcraft II..
A lot of dota players I've talked with say "Yeah dude it's a teamgame, you dont need a Solo ladder/MMR system etc." But the thing is that i'm slowly getting bored of playing Dota 2 (maybe because i've been playing this game since 8 years :p ). It's as if i'm only playing for items and nothing else.. Exactly the same feeling as Diablo III..
Also, without a MMR/ladder system, there is a huge gap between pro players and the "standard" players. I think that this system would allow players to get "recognition"
So, do you guys have information about that ? And what do you think about these rankings system ?

Valve has stated several times that they are against a visible mmr. Please use the search function this has been discussed before.

If you're good enough, you know where you belong. If you don't know where you belong without visible MMR, chances are you're awful.

Valve is stupid, thats why. Fortunately, theres people smart enough to make their own ladders and that is where all the pros play, places like ixdl. You can't get good games playing on dota's MMR where you often get matched with someone with less than 20 games, even if you have 1000+

Exactly what i think

Can we block all threads from starting if they include the words "MMR/Ladder" and just have people rely on searching? It's not like there's any new information to be given out.
And then it's even worse because people give out misinformed, bias 'opinions' on the situation

Dota will never advance to the next level if there isn't at least a ranked mode available. Random public games are extremely bland to me after 2,000+ games. Visible MMR can stay out though, HoN is all you need to look at to see what happens when that number is visible to everyone.

There is a ranked mode, make a team and play "ranked matchmaking"

Thanks, I didn't know that it had already been discussed. But maybe people talk a lot about it because they want this "visible" ranking system...

It's not about knowing whether i'm good or not. I think the current dota 2 mmr system sucks. Thats why i'm openning a tread.. Everytime I play a game, I have 5% of chance to get a good team that communicates etc..
And by the way, your taunt "chances are you're awful" is completely useless. I can 1v1 you and make you look "awful" aswell..
