Shannon Szabados had an outside shot at being a back up goalie for 1 night.
Fuck it, start her.
What do they have to lose?
I don't disagree with this actually. Or you could do something like let Scrivens play 2 periods and say he hurt his ankle or something in-between periods so she gets a period of NHL play. Win win for everyone.
Shes a better goalie then several we have played this year...
Speaking of Played how many have the Oilers used? Dubnyk, Labarbera, Bryzgalov, Bachman and Scrivens are the ones I can think of. Did I miss any?

Should be easy with no starting goalie and no Sedin's. Having a uninspired and upset Ryan Kesler won't help you win either.
I think the goalie graveyard has moved from Philly to Vancouver.
Scnieder seems to be doing okay, I imagine Lou will do fine in the weaker East. I feel bad for Lack. At least Scneider had Luo take a lot of heat, 'won' the job before being shuffled. Lack is literally thrown in at the worst possible moment for a young goalies confidence.
Useless trivia fact: NHL has a new record holder for longest point streak as an 18 year old. Nathan MacKinnon got an assist in the 3-2 OT win for the Av's to break Wayne Gretzky's previous record of 12

Canadians have proven they are lousy at "back checking" because they gave up 3 goals during the olympics and never trailed the entire event. I blame Carey Price, Steve Yzerman's bad team selection and poor back checking.
Crosby's position on that play was ok... Ovechkin's decision making was very, very bad. as has been mentioned elsewhere... Dale Hunter used Ovechkin properly...other coaches.. not-so-much.

i think you're in the wrong thread. i have some bad news for Edmonton and Vancouver: only Toronto and Montreal are invulnerable to a weakening Canadian dollar.

BACK CHECKING LIKE A GOOD OL CANADIAN BOY
Honestly, I havn't seen the whole play, but from the Gif provided it doesn't really seem like a bad play from Crosby. Its not the Ovechkin Gif at all, he has his head on a swivel anticipating a trailer. You'd like to see more from him, but at some point you have to trust your teammates to make the right play.
a) Marleau is faster than Crosby all day erry day. b) Where are the other 4 sharks? c) Dayum, Malkin got deked. d) Zatkoff looked like a sieve there. Shades of Dan Cloutier.

Toronto's Current Unemployment rate is 10.1%. Edmonton's Current Unemployment Rate is 3.1%... Saskatchewan's rate is at 2.7%.
The Canadian Dollar is tanking sure, but the Western Canadian Oil Industry is just soaring higher and higher. We are far from in crisis mode; Nisku houses about 600 businesses, all of them could probably use 2-3 laborers, a Welder or two, as well as an engineer or two.
Not having a job in Alberta/Saskatchewan means you either aren't willing to work hard or you not looking. In Toronto you can't find a job at the Local McDonalds. Very different economic climates right now.
Plus, The Oilers, Flames, and Canucks are propped up by corporate empires based in the US. This is not the 90's anymore.
look up the highlight. it was a shg, the shark who fed marleau went to the bench, as did the other player. there was a 3rd penguin behind sid, who was ahead of the incoming shark. you look, see that, you are supposed to backcheck. if he hustles there, he cuts down that inside move and the chance is cut down.

What? There was nothing okay about that play from Crosby. It was a short-handed goal with Sharks forwards changing after a very long shift. I'm surprised Marleau was still able to get speed given how long he had been out there. It was a horribly lazy play by Crosby. He just watched Marleau school Malkin while skating in a straight line (more like coasting in a straight line).
