TSN guys twitter says 15% of the contract. what i dont get is why trade schneider last year if you were planning on this? it seems like that was dipping the toe into the rebuild pool, and then they just dove in this year Mike Gillis is an incompetent GM, he has been an incompetent GM, he continue to be an incompetent GM. But the owners seem to love him so...it looks like he is going to be orchestrating the rebuild too.

the only defense i can muster up re: schneider trade is that he was 26/27 at the time. if he was thinking his team had one good year left before going all in on the rebuild, that means schneider would have been probably about 30-31 by the time they were competitive again. from that perspective, i don't really think it's a bad trade. 9th overall for a backup who is talented is a pretty good return.
shit that you can tag him for is the stuff when they were on top. esp the hodgson trade, since the twins are old and Kesler is probably gonna be traded tomorrow/this offseason if things keep the way they are going. Kassian is maaaaybe a 3rd line forward, and it's not clear he'll get better. Hodgson is probably at least a top 6 center who you give good offensive zone starts to.
I guess I'd really withhold judgement to see what he does in the next 24 hours and in the offseason. if he gets a good haul for guys like Kesler, the twins, Bieksa, Hamhuis, then maybe he sticks. But they should be in full firesale mode right now

Also that Grabner trade. They got basically nothing in return AND also gave up a 1st rounder.

Florida must be the best team to play in the NHL if you dont care about winning. Almost no fans, nice warm weather all the time, travel to the West is a hassle but after flying all over the place out of Vancouver a 3 hour flight is a breeze.

I love how Vancouver solved it's 2-goalie problem by going down to 0 goalies. Holy hell.

To be fair, Lack has looked good, but he has 25 games of experience in the NHL. I hope Gillis gets fired soon. Far too much incompetence.
|
he'd be 41 in 2021, I believe. and he'd also make 1.6 in 2019, and 1m after that.
for a lot of players, a full season making just $1m after you've made millions isnt entirely attractive

In non trade related new Pekka Rinne is going to start in net for the Predators after playing a pair of games for the AHL Admirals. Went 33 save to 35 shot.

IMO does the most damage to NHL teams lol The 8 mill a year thing at the end is really bad too though. That could kill any hopes Vancouver had of being a contender depending on how the cap goes up.

hopefully Luongo and Thomas can pump each others tires

Goddamn, being a Sharks fan at the trade deadline is always nerve wracking. I really don't like these rumors that the Sharks are in on Vanek. I hate to think about what we'd have to give up for him. I'd rather just trade for Setoguchi.
On the bright side, at least I don't have to worry about Doug Wilson trading for the anti-Christ again. We already picked him up last year at the trade deadline.
+ Show Spoiler + However much I hate to admit it, getting Raffi Torres was a good move. It still feels dirty, though, and I know a lot of Sharks fans that are still upset about it.

yeah when he's not being a total shitheel, torres is a solid 3rd liner. He's just a piece of shit. I hate him enough that I'd be mad if he were on my team

I hope this is the 5th or 6th straight year Ales Hemsky is found to be desirable by many teams and end up untraded. I like him

Lol. This. Tiodays he is playing like he wants to increase his value. Dont know where that been last little while.
I was impressed with The Oilers moves today.
Essentially Bryz+5th for Fasth. Which is essentially Fasth for a 5th.
Makes me a happy boy.
