I was just wondering what solution was more popular.
I personnally use ctrl+click as I think it is more accurate (only one on-target click needed) and the Ctrl key is easy to reach with the base of the pinky (first phalanx).
I guess it is kind of trivial but I'm still curious.

I never even knew you could ctrl click : OO
I ctrl-click. Not because I find it superior or anything like that (though I do find it superior) but because when I changed around my hotkey setup to try and encourage myself to use hotkeys, I really really wanted to start using shift-clicking. I tried and tried but wasn't really able to get the hang of it. I then tried using ctrl-clicks just to get used to using my pinky, which worked like a charm. Now I shift-click like a boss and ctrl-click like a boss
Every time I try to double click a unit that is moving I fail. I never miss when I ctrl-click.
I find double clicking on tiny Ghost in my army tedious so I press control and click once to hotkey them. Plus, like what above said, if my army ball is moving and I try to double click on a specific unit, I misclick
I found double clicking very tedious and unnecessasry. I started ctrl and shift clicking everything, way more efficient, not as good for your hand/wrist though.
I double click, and I've tried ctrl clicking but never got used to it. I'll try it again though. But one isn't any better or efficient than the other.
I used double click in WoL and I am pretty good with it now, but it is hard to not fail in moments when you have to react fast and you want to micro special units. Selecting by using ctrl+click is on my "to change for hots" list
It's kinda weird, but I alternate between ctrl + click and double click. Ctrl + Click is more comfortable though :o
control + click, because it's faster and more efficient to perform the two actions of either method using both hands. Your pinky is usually around the control key. Double clicking can be prone to error when there is camera or unit movement.
I used to double-click but I forced myself to start ctrl-clicking recently and it helps a lot. Once you get the hang of it, it gets much easier to control armies that have more than 3-4 different unit types like marine/tank/ghost/viking since it's faster.

ctrl+click all the wayyyyy
i wish i did ctrl, but i dont and double click sucks.
Lol ...i double click, but now i'm realizing just how wrong i was. Could you do this is Bw also? if so my friend really led me down the wrong path.
Hahaha I was always curious about this. I ctrl+click as well and I thought most people would double click.
I can't double-click, keeping my mouse that stationary intentionally just doesn't feel comfortable. Not that I'm a 200apm speed freak, but there's a difference between not knowing where to move the mouse and intentionally not moving the mouse.
Although, honestly, I box select more than I ever do either.

always ctrl+ click, but I use double click when I warp units
I try to ctrl + click, but sometimes I forget and double click. It depends on if the units are moving.... and I always double-click buildings, since I find double-clicking to be easier, but I always miss if what I'm trying to click is moving.
As for selecting all of one kind out of a group, I tend to favour using the bottom of the screen, rather than the units.

ctrl+click
it's faster and more efficient
where is the Gah! Real pro's draw boxes option?
A lot of pros double or ctrl click.
Had no idea that you could dbl click. Learned from begining to shift, ctrl + click

So you just defended a proxy gate TvP and you have a small ball of marines and SCVs. You want to separate the SCVs and tell them to go back to mine. How do you accomplish that by drawing boxes?
You either have to ctrl + click or double click to select units of just one type.
I ctrl + click for units, but for some reason when I add production buildings I double click my production then shift click it to my production hotkey.
edit: I guess it's so I have already have my left hand over shift+3 (my macro hotkey) for when I've double clicked. It's a bit faster that way imo.
Ctrl clicking is just better in every way.
Doubleclicking moving speedlings on creep requires DRG level APM and accuracy.
I only use controlclick when I have a big clump of units and I have to separate some of them. Usually when having a huge clump of scvs and marines and I want to send scvs back to mine. I also always controlclick on the "selected units" window rather than one of the actual units.
CTRL+Click is faster and easier to use :o
idk why you would double click ever in your entire life
I never double click while my army is moving but when its still I sometimes double click.
Double click. Not sure what kinds of mice you guys are using but double click takes pretty much no time at all.

Double click regardless if it's the most efficient or not. It's just a habit.
It depends, when I want to select a certain type of unit in my screen, I double click. When I select from the wire-frame, I use Crtl-Click.
The only time I ever double-click it's accidental, and usually ends up having all my scvs go to build a barracks or something of that sort. I wish you could disable the double-click select-all.
double clicking in a group of lings in impossible, always ctrl click
Always double-click, never tried ctrl-click.
they should make subgroups in the game like there was in wc3, and we would see much better micro in fights
double click, probably just got used to it

Ctrl click is way faster and could avoid more misclicks.
I'm also surprised no one uses control+[idle scv hotkey] instead of boxing at the start (not that it'll matter in HotS),
I use control click, as others have pointed out it's both faster and thus more efficient.
Ctrl click is sooooo much faster. I couldnt imagine not using it.

never even knew you could doble-click

im using double-click currently, didnt even know you could ctrl-click. Going to switch asap.
Depends. If I have only one type of unit (let's say 20 marines) I usually double click, but if I have many types of units (let's say MMM, but I need only marines and marauders, no medivacs) then I use CTRL+Click and shift +the same for another type.
Call me old fashioned, but i was so used at Wc3 times to double click, that still don't even rely on the ctrl trick.
wow never knew crtl+click works.... feel so dumb now
should be very good for laddering!!
Despite my overall sub-par mechanics, cntrl-click all the way. I would think most pro's favor this method, just IMO
Crtl+click? What is this sorcery?
I use control+f1 at the start of the game to select my probes to send them to mine. Later on in the game, I sometimes use control+f1 if I have a bunch of idle probes for whatever reason--maybe a base ran out of minerals, or I sent a bunch of them away from their mineral line as crisis management.
I try to use control-click for more precise actions when my left hand is free, or near that key. If it's up at the top of the keyboard pressing control group buttons or w or e, then I might be more inclined to double click. Generally speaking, I think that control-clicking is better because it's using 2 hands to press 2 buttons simultaneously, whereas double-clicking means you have to use the same finger twice in succession. Even if it's a split second difference, it's definitely a relevant difference.

I have vague memories of control-clicking ghouls so I didn't have to double click really fast-moving units, especially when unholy aura and/or the crackling upgrade were involved. I could be wrong, though.
