Like we hear all these horrible things every day, why is there no impeachment then? I am genuinely curious about this by the way,is it just waiting for the bucket to fill up completely and its close but not quiet there yet? It is because the republican party is in control of the government: presidency, both houses of congress, most states, judiciary. And they have for at least two decades worked to elect ever more unhinged, far-right candidates whom are completely unable to serve as a check on government ineptitude. In fact, they would encourage it because the explicit desire of many of these people is for the US government to implode.

Relevant snipet from the first debate
HOLT: You mention ISIS, and we think of ISIS certainly as over there, but there are American citizens who have been inspired to commit acts of terror on American soil, the latest incident, of course, the bombings we just saw in New York and New Jersey, the knife attack at a mall in Minnesota, in the last year, deadly attacks in San Bernardino and Orlando. I'll ask this to both of you. Tell us specifically how you would prevent homegrown attacks by American citizens
Clinton: But let's talk about the question you asked, Lester. The question you asked is, what do we do here in the United States? That's the most important part of this. How do we prevent attacks? How do we protect our people?
And I think we've got to have an intelligence surge, where we are looking for every scrap of information. I was so proud of law enforcement in New York, in Minnesota, in New Jersey. You know, they responded so quickly, so professionally to the attacks that occurred by Rahami. And they brought him down. And we may find out more information because he is still alive, which may prove to be an intelligence benefit.
So we've got to do everything we can to vacuum up intelligence from Europe, from the Middle East. That means we've got to work more closely with our allies, and that's something that Donald has been very dismissive of.
We're working with NATO, the longest military alliance in the history of the world, to really turn our attention to terrorism. We're working with our friends in the Middle East, many of which, as you know, are Muslim majority nations. Donald has consistently insulted Muslims abroad, Muslims at home, when we need to be cooperating with Muslim nations and with the American Muslim community.
They're on the front lines. They can provide information to us that we might not get anywhere else. They need to have close working cooperation with law enforcement in these communities, not be alienated and pushed away as some of Donald's rhetoric, unfortunately, has led to.
When you make enemies of the intelligence community, and piss off your allies, it makes you weaker. Competency matters. Very much.

Of course, few liberals are going to admit that. There is an article earlier in this thread written by someone who knew the person who leaked the story. The author is a Trump supporter. Per the story, Trump refuses to listen to the intelligence reports or even care what is or is not classified. He won’t take advice, won’t listen to people who are responsible to make sure he doesn’t endanger our relationships with other nations.
And since they have no recourse and can’t go to anyone, they are leaking the information in the vain hope that is kicks Trump in the ass and forces him to listen. Form the story, isn’t politics. It is people that likely supported Trump realizing that he might do real, long term damage to the US.
Of course, you can choose to ignore that story if you want.

If he did in fact do it, as we have reason to believe, what part of revealing it as part of a brag doesn't scream incompetence? McMaster talking today about how little Trump seems to actually know only makes it worse, not better. Chances are he has no idea what is classified and what isnt.

The presumption underlying this post is astounding. You don't know exactly what was shared. Like I mentioned yesterday, there a ton of things that are classified that might be appropriate to share with Russia depending upon the circumstances. For all we know, this information shared could be required to be disclosed under the ICAO. Where is the rule or law that the US prohibited from sharing any intelligence with Russia? That's right: there isn't one for reasons that should be readily apparent to everyone. It's not the role of the intelligence community to make half-assed leaks that are designed purely to harm the president. If there really is something that the public needs to know about, then they should go full Snowden. But no, that's clearly not what this is about. This 100% politics. Of course, few liberals are going to admit that. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/16/world/middleeast/israel-trump-classified-intelligence-russia.html?smid=tw-shareThe information is believed to be pertaining to ISIS, but beyond that we don't know. Whether or not Russia deliberately uses it against Israel is beside the point, it's very sensitive information that was classified for a reason. The fact that it's out due to Trump's incompetence means Israel has little reason to trust us going forward, as do a lot of other countries. But make this about liberals, please. Your partisanship is showing. Is there one liberal around here who understands that I'm not the one making the argument that the information should be spun one way or another? Has this thread really fallen this far? And do you assume, just by me interpreting the information I have before me, that I am a liberal? I'm criticizing a grossly incompetent leader who deserves it by every measure I can think of, that doesn't make me a Democratic shill. You're the one projecting here. The situation looks awful no matter how you want to spin it, and you refuse to acknowledge it. There's nothing baseless about my presumption. Here are you are presuming that Trump's disclosure of the intelligence is another act of gross incompetence. It's pretty clear to me what you're doing. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.... Is there evidence pointing to it being anything but a gross error on his part? Because all reports coming from Washington this could put our intelligence relationship with Israel in jeopardy.

you then assumed that not only are the leaks worse than what was leaked, but that it was 100% political.
you then used these assumptions to levy an insult on liberals, simultaneously talking out the other side of your mouth about how you've made no assumptions and how everyone else in this thread is incompetent.

Gone are the days where there would be arguments defending Republican positions. Now we have epistemological games about how much it is possible to know the truth of the latest Trump outrage. If you can't defend Trump on the merits, give it up on this philosophy 101 "are we in the Matrix" defense. The reporting on the Israel blab is well sourced. The truth is out there.

If Trump can be damaged with his mistake here, then great, but let's not pretend like it is some sort of catastrophic act It will however lead to Israel withholding information(whether by ensuring it doesn't reach Trump or not sending it in the first place is irrelevant) or potentially even using Trump as unwitting plant of false info given that trump clearly can't keep his mouth shut when his ego is in play.
It won't break the relationship, because they're most likely aware that Trump is retarded, but it will be at minimum temporarily damaging.

According to the reports, the information wasnt his to share. Seems wrong to me. Especially when you consider the bragging part of the story.

It would give away methods and routes of intelligence. Russia is deeply invested in knowing the inner workings of Israeli intelligence. Having little clues here and there, in addition to what Russia already has, would likely allow Russia to confirm/deny underlying assumptions and to build a more complete model as to Israel's capabilities, current pursuits, positioning, etc.

The key part of this is that the NSA, CIA and other agencies cannot withhold the information from Trump. If he asks for it, they have to provide it. Our partners know that and won’t be able to trust us with information, even if they have complete faith in the CIA and NSA to keep the information secret.

It depends upon what Trump told Russia. Saying "we are hearing that Russia is going to be attacked" is very different than "Russia is going to be attacked and this is how we know it [and what follows is a full disclosure of the source of the intelligence]." This my big problem with these leaks. We don't know what was shared, so all that's left is innuendo. And it's the innuendo that is being reported on and seized by the public. Regardless of what Trump actually told the Russians, why would any intelligence agency share anything with the US when it can see that our intelligence apparatus is leaking like a sieve?
