I'll bet the "return" of proceeds isn't even contemplated in their contract. What kind of person does it take to use lawyer attack dogs in the service of vendettas, over an entire career? A thin skinned baby who can’t deal with criticism and thinks the court system should always work in their favor.

This entire election will be determined by turnout, nothing more. Trump realizes it and Clinton realizes it. This election is a war more than a campaign. We need more soldiers and Bernie brings soldiers. Figure out everything else later, just win the election. I think democrats trying to have a perfectly Clinton campaign is a huge mistake and that any arrogance regarding Trump's chances will likely lose the election. Democrats need to run this campaign as "just win, no matter what" instead of trying to have the perfect little cabinet and the perfect little show. Turnout, turnout, turnout. That's all that matters.

I agree that Hillary needs to drive turnout, but I wonder whether Bernie would compromise her in other ways.

I don't know if anyone can be more popular or known than the party's presidential nominee. But I do think that Hillary is well-aware of her comparative enthusiasm gap, and doesn't want to pick someone who is better at getting progressive panties wet than she is.

To address both of you, I hope/assume the cynicism regarding Clinton's tight grip on the DNC is somewhat exaggerated. I DO think the DNC did their best to push for what they thought was their best option, but I think the DNC has sway and some amount of control. I am hopeful that she will be pressured to do what is necessary to win. The DNC has the data, they know they could very well just throw Trump in the white house. I don't think anyone is as arrogant as they were 6 months ago.

Guess that settles that debate. Another +1 for Trump and -1 for sensationalist media I dunno, and I don't feel like looking that far back in the thread to find it. There was an understandable concern he might do that; and a desire to wait until it's actually done and verified. I'm glad now that it's been done.

They don't want a repeat of Cruz's Wednesday night kamikaze. The calculation of the Establishment is as follows: Trump is likely to lose this November and be nothing but a bad memory afterwards, so let's just ride out the storm and live to fight another day. I think that there are problems with this line of thought, but I have no doubt that is what they're thinking.

The gamble makes sense for the likes of Cruz, the odds are good Trump will lose but even if the odds weren't good being positioned as the sane conservative voice of reason in the event of a loss is much more useful than being slightly more in Trump's good graces but still on the outside in the event of a win. There's no real upside to endorsements but a few to failing to endorse.
