I have a question...Are the friggin widow mines cloaked when the burrow? i can't tell.

wow. HotS is really funny. I played it with my friends at GamesCom today. Mass tempest are soo op :D Just kiddin', I was just too bad :p

btw: The BattleCruiser speed-ability is really nice - the BC flew as fast as a viking with it activated!

I'm so pumped for the HotS Beta!


edit: btw: The woman at HotS-Stage said to us that we were the only guys with constant high apm. And we're just diamond league. There were so many bronze-players there :D

Are you sure tehy can do that right now?

If they can, its still not really a big deal as they are more expensive than a worker and their splash damage has already been decreased. This means that they will take out maybe 10 or 12 workers at most, and thats probably only if they clump all up around them. 10-12 workers for the cost of 8 widow mines? Not worth it if u ask me.

It doesn't pervent muta harass. And any zerg who has been playing for more than 5 minutes or is older than 4 years old will be able to pull 1 muta out of his control group in 10 seconds.

That is not the point, you won't be trading one Muta that cost 100/100 for Mine that cost 75/25. Of course I will micro, but he can just put 5-6 Mines in the mineral line and 1 Turret, and I will be the at loss if I engage even with 15+ Mutas, not him.


Very narrow biased logic. Widow mines don't move at a ridiculous 3.75 speed and fly and have DPS and 120 HP.


yeah mines alone won't stop harassment, you can spot them with an overseer, fly in one muta and take down the rest of the mines in these 10 seconds. I think i will prefer upgraded turrets + few vikings to stop mutas still. But will mix widow mines in of course.

One thing about the Widow Mine that they could do is make it so it can't hit workers like in Broodwar, that way they don't need to stop it being dropped and whatever.

Eh, that was a really weird rule in BW. Spider Mines couldn't be activated by "hovering" units, but it was really hard to distinguish what was hovering and what wasn't.

As well as Probes, SCVs, and Drones as well as Vultures themselves, Archons and Dark Archons couldn't activate mines. But this rule didn't feel that intuitive since since some units like Defilers and High Templar look like they're hovering but in fact aren't and so they do trigger mines. And it's really weird gameplay-wise that Archons would be considered "hovering."

My mistake, i put on the wrong side. Breaking the deathbal is a pro.

But, well, in theorycraft, the mechball will be the most APM intensive army in the whole game while moving. You'll have to leapfrog all your tanks AND all your Widow MInes (unburrow ==> burrow ==> unburrow ...) to advance with safety.

Blizz is giving some shit to Protoss and Zerg to Fight that. (P: Tempest to make Siege lines to move, Oracle to abuse immobility harassing. Z : Swarm Host. New Nydus (and the old Nydus will be not bad against this new mech style). Vipers (and Bloodlords shoul be good too). So this Mech even well microe'd shouldn't be OP. They could mantain the Carrier too. I can see Carriers doin Well against the new style.

These scenarios do not sound bad for me. But we'll have to wait and see.

Really hope this will be more of an SC2 WoL type of beta rather than a D3 beta, in terms of how easy it is to get into. Would be pretty bad for players who aren't pro or friends/family and not lucky enough to get in if they still take the game seriously and would then start off at a disadvantage on release.

Please stop whining before the game is even in beta. If it's OP then blizzard WILL NERF IT. Ghost snipe was OP so blizzard nerfed it. Tanks were OP so blizzard nerfed them. Reapers were OP so blizzard nerfed them.

I got the feeling that blizzard will remove the splash damage from the mines. Reason? Drops. Low level players will lose their whole mineral line by 4 dropped mines. Even pro's miss drops somethimes.



Really? I was under the impression that Blizzard buffs/Nerfs according to the outcrys of outspoken groups. After all thats why the ghost/infestor were nerfed as much as they were followed by buffs to units like the Queen/Phoenix right?
