damn they really hate AOE in this game, everything has the aoe damage nerfed due to the stupid path that make units clump so much...they are ruining this game cause of the pathfiding, saddest thing ever

The mines will be good against protoss, and maybe against zerg in the lategame? If a mine blows up a ling, it's really not cost efficiënt . If it blows up an ultralisk it will be epic :D

Well, it looks like the AoE radius is nerfed, but in exchange they buffed the damage to compensate.

It's not that bad of a tradeoff.

If the mine is an instant damage, then i would expect that there is friendly fire.

I certainly do hope so, but it kinda sucks if you can't kill the mine when it unborrows.

they definition of fun, is more a-move option and less aoe, yay, blizzard are not able to reconcile balance and fun, in multiplayer

There was a timer for the Widow Mine in the TvP Battle Report. You see it when it latches onto the harassing Oracle.

Timer sounds more like a visual change rather than removal of the countdown. I think it just means you can't see how long till the unit explodes in game (But probably still can in a replay, which is why we saw it in the battle report).

All we know about that battle report is that it wasn't recorded live. It might a few weeks old, it might be a few months old. Neither the custom map nor the battle reports, nor what people played at gamescom this weekend, is a 100% correct reflection of the newest build of hots that is being played at blizzard right now. For all we know the carrier might be stil in and the tempest and widow mine removed...

I have anecdotal confirmation that the mine acts just like a spider mine (except damage, and that it hits air still)

in a professional starcraft games its common for Zealots to outnumber the roachs so the raochs have to spend too much time kiting and the third gets sniped

Good good. Now give the mines to Reaper and we could end up with interesting game dynamics and unit compositions.

I know giving them to Hellions make more sense from BW mech style point of view but I rather go with Reapers and see how that works out. Maybe with cliff jumping it would be too OP and I dont think they would remove such ability from Reaper as the whole unit is designed around that idea. Oh well...
