After getting inspired by the ''Human vs. Dog'' thread I decided to make this one. The largest land animal, the African Elephant, a herbivore, vs the largest bear species in the world, Polar bear. A carnivore.
So.... Let's imagine now that these animals are in a medium sized room, giving them enough space to move around a bit. There is no way out, and they are ferociously mad and are about to fight to the DEATH. Which one will win? Why?
Let's take the animals in the pictures I provided as the fighters, because an African Elephant is most dangerous with the tusks and full size, and the Polar bear is most dangerous in it's full size ofcourse, too.
To get an idea how dangerous Polar bears and Elephants can be I got a two links here to show what they can kill: Elephant can tear Rhinos to pieces and stomp them to oblivion: + Show Spoiler +
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/642731.stm
Polar bears can tear fully grown 2 tonnes Walruses to pieces: + Show Spoiler +
Fighting techniques for Polar bear: Clawing, biting and mauling. Fighting techniques for the African Elephant: Stomping, piercing and goring.

Did there has been a confirmed report of a tiger that killed a bull elephant? It wasn't direct death, but the trunk was so clawed and ruined that the elephant died of starvation because he couldn't use it for food.
A tiger is not a good comparison, tigers are quick and agile compared to a bear.
No land animal could reasonably be expected to defeat an african elephant. But i guess as the one guy said a tiger could possibly do it. Maybe an anaconda could do it? And of course venemous animals.

Please explain to me how an anaconda could take down an elephant?
There is no way an African Elephant doesn't win against ANY land animal. Seriously.

An anaconda? for real? your gonna put a snake (a fucking big one) up against an animal whose speciality is stomping things to death? in a straight up fight: elephant > every land animal
I have seen a video of a Polar Bear actually doing everything it could just to kill a Walrus and the Walrus was just like " the fuck is this guy?" It didn't give a fuck heh, the Polar bear couldn't hardly puncture it's skin at all and eventually just gave up and swam away. So, yea the Elephant would win since I imagine it would be nearly the same situation, lol.
As someone who has had an elephant try to run me down and smash the vehicle I was in to pieces, I'd have to side with the elephant. Bears are scary but a living freight train is scarier.
African elephants have a stronger muscle power than polar bears, are heavier than polar bears, run faster than polar bears (24km/h vs 6km/h), have their defenses, have a trunk, and have ginormous feet, and their skin is thicker.
The only way a polar bear would defeat an african elephant in a 1v1 situation is if it's in the North Pole and on a sheet of ice and/or in freezing waters, where I believe african elephants cannot swim.
Ew what the hell, that polar bear vid's site is disgusting and should be banned from the internetz. I should not have let my curiosity get the better of me. Do not go there

i cant think of any venomous animal that could puncture the skin of an elephant
There was a show with African Elephant vs a rhino, and the elephant won. There was also a show with polar bear vs a walrus and the walrus won.
How the fuck a walrus could beat a polar bear??!
Btw, i'm glad the bettle beat that fucker, lol.
Because it's so fat the polar bear doesn't ever bite anything but...fat. I mean, we're talking about a 3.5k pound animal with massive tusks. Not really shocking that a Polar Bear would seek easier prey.
EDIT: Really though, a Polar bear will eat young walrus. A battle with a grown walrus probably has a high probability of death or sevre injury for them.
