So Ive been watching the MLG stream on saturday, unfortunatly I missed friday. But the whole stream long, they were saying they were going to interview Browder (david kim too) about HOTS. Anyone know if this has happend or has yet to happen? Vods maybe?

Sorry, kind of a useless thread but I'm really looking forward to those interviews.

both interviews are really bad unfortunately

I just get the feeling that both Browder and Kim are really just failing and don't have a solid insight into the pro scene, or - weirdly - the game they're making

The David Kim interview was really shitty. No in depth balancing questions, but rather about how the balancing team is working. Stuff that Browder and Kim have been talking about many, many times before.

I'd prefer if the questions had been more to the point. E.g. how they were reasoning when they were tweaking the queen energy/range and how they think reapers should work in HOTS.

At least he said they were at the alpha stage, which means it's not quite such a bad situation as suggested by the indications of a public beta
If internal is still alpha, they hopefully know they have got a long way to go.
HOLY CHECK!

The David Kim interview was pretty good. Enjoyed the part where he basically said "We listen to pro-players, but with a grain of salt." It is good to hear that they willing to make up their own minds, since listening to everyone would pretty much ruin the game.

That would be the first time I hear anyone praise Blizzard for their unwillingness to listen.

Discussing balance seems a bit pointless now, seeing the huge changes HotS gonna bring very soon.

What about the TL interviews that they were collecting questions for?

Or the one Khaldor was doing. Anyone know where to find those? Are they even out yet?

That David Kim interview was absolute trash. No substance.

It's all fluff questions that have been answered a thousand times already.

The TL question thread? That was not the TL interview, i think. Just some generic MLG stuff.

Can not wait for the TL interview.

Everyone: spare yourself those MLG interviews, pure fluff, nothing interesting at all.
As far as I understood it the Liquid interview was yesterday, so where's the upload?

Kennigit's interview hasn't even been posted yet. He tweeted six hours ago saying it would be up the next day

Oh, you think they should listen to everyone?
Try to listen to Stephano and Idra at the same time about zvp match-up. (not saying one of two is right or something)

This would be nonsense. I'm glad they don't listen to anyone (who calls himself or is called a pro). Not saying of course, that all pros are making stuff up, on the contrary, but filtering is needed.

Folks, it'll take some time until we get a properly structured TL write up of their reviews, just hang on a while.

Yea, better clam down. Although the MLG interview was kind of a joke, as long as we wait patiently we can soon see all the other interviews. Especially the 30 minute interview from TL should be good.

he might be not to active on tl, I even stated several times they shouldn't listen so much on the community as they do right now, in these sort of threads. But as long as they let the game only be slightly ruined by the community, its still okay with me.

Yeah I'm not confident in Browder or David Kim. I think Pro Koreans would be much more valuable for balance contributions, than other foreigners who tend to be more vocal about potential imbalance.

Yeah. Every time Blizzard has listened to the community regarding something, it has made the game better. Remember when the Ladder was going to have different maps than tournaments, specifically "aggressive maps"?

Yeah that didn't really work out.

No, he said he had 30 minutes booked.

Perhaps he is making a pretty compilation or something went wrong (sick / cancelled?).
Comparing BW with SCII is like comparing a beautiful three-master sailing ship with a modern battlecruiser. Both are beautiful in their own way, both perform the same task, but they are worlds apart in how they are built and how they are steered.

I try to be first in all things. I will always praise someone for taking into account the source of the information that they are receiving. Listening to the community and doing exactly what they request is a good way to ruin a game.

Because they made a big deal out of interviewing the lead game designer, lead balance designer, and CEO of blizzard @ MLG. Its only natural for them to live up to the hype. You must always meet the expectations you set, as otherwise you fail in the eyes of many even if the product ends up being decent (looks at diablo 3).

If you expected an on stage interview in front of a huge crowd to be anything other than what it was, you have unreasonable expectations lol. Big stage interviews are always fluff.

This.
I kind of looked forward to this interview the most out of all the stuff this weekend, because the liquid ones are the only interviews with substance and we probably get to know more about HotS through it than through the Battle Reports.
An ETA would be nice.

David Kim Talks about FRB:

Another interview:

These are short and for the most part, there are only one or two questions that haven't really been asked before (or answered yet in the past).

I think this is the first time David Kim talks about Fewer Resources per Bases though.

IMO, I now think HotS (specifically with the Protoss since the whole deathball + stay on two or three base syndrome is the worse with them) will help fix those issues. I like the new Tempest (it's not just an a-move unit anymore, it's a long range support attacking unit) and the Oracle, neither really contribute to the ball of death.

However, I do notice that David Kim mentioned they wanted Terran players to "be able" to play like Protoss if they wanted (AKA they could just sit on three bases and make a mech ball of death then do one final game ending push).

We'll have to see how it goes.

while im not 100% sure on this, im pretty sure that you will need Wings of Liberity regardless to be able to play Heart of Swarm so its best your friend gets the Wings of liberity deal right now.

This depends on payment model they shoot for. If they charge it as a full price game then you probably wont need wings of liberity, but if they charge it as an Expansion, you will need WOL +HOTS . But HOTS will probably only cost around $40

Here's one with ChoboPeon talking to Chris Sigaty:

http://au.gamespot.com/starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarm/videos/interview-with-the-production-director-of-starcraft-2-6381781/

Unfortunately a lot of the questions have been covered before a lot of reactions to community reactions and hand wringing over lan, but one that was interesting to me was that Clan support would be coming to both WoL and HotS.
