Oh hey like I said 3 weeks ago: Miami would struggle and probably not even make the Finals without Bosh. He comes back - and they beat Boston both games. People act like missing your 3rd best player is some easy shit to overcome.

You're trying to make sense. You think sports media tries to make sense, especially when it comes to bashing Lebron?

The only things going for the Heat that I can think of:
1. Boston had the best defense in the league, and Lebron pierced it. Once in a while, even the other players showed up. I think they'll be able to show up offensively against OKC. <1A> True, OKC clamped down on the best offense in the league. But MIA/Bron scored against the best defense. And the very least, MIA's individualism will be a different kind of offense from the one OKC stopped, which was very team and pass oriented.
2. They handled the Boston crowd well. The OKC crowd shouldn't be a problem.
3. Bosh is only going to get stronger. Wade will probably do better. <3A> A lot of potential improvement from the bench. Although that's a longshot.
4. Previous finals experience. NOTE: OKC did take down a LOT of "previous finals experience" on the way to the finals.
5. The Boston experience. They saw how hard those guys worked, and how close they came to upsetting them. If they even approximate Boston's effort, which was just balls-out, I think they actually have a good shot.
OTHER than that, everything else is in OKC's favor. Bench, starters, rest, homecourt, offense and shooting, momentum, confidence, coaching, fans, facial hair, health, teamwork, etc. Even the stuff I listed above contains a lot of hoping.
I'm rooting for MIAMI. I think OKC will sweep them.

I kinda hope the heat win just so we have to stop hearing about it. And I'd hate to see Spo scapegoated if they dont which is a likely result.
That having been said I see OKC in 6. Among othe reasons mostly mentioned. They've been way more impressive at learning how to beat their opponents (when theyve had to) over short periods then I expected.

can't wait to root for OKC against MIA. I'm kind of glad Miami got through just so I can root against them and hope to see them get beat by OKC. let's go Thunder! should be an interesting series, hopefully Westbrook and Thunder can keep the turnovers to a minimum like they did against S.A.
|
Has anyone noticed that every superstar wears glasses during post game interviews? Are they all prescription, or do they just think it looks cool? Does the NBA have a contract with glasses companies that requires their best players to wear glasses? I just don't know anymore.
Go Thunder! Legend in the making!

I've never understood that argument: How is Miami's offense any more individualistic then OKCs? Like...seriously? Miami is a pretty pass happy team.
ETA: And people - let's remember Miami was missing their 3rd best player until the last 2 games vs the best defensive team in the league. Keep some perspective here.
|
He was saying Miami's offense is less pass oriented than the Spurs, which is true because everyone's offense is less pass happy than the spurs.
edit: The idea is that OKC's defense is very quick and lengthy so they're good at blocking passing lanes and forcing steals on bad passes. Not an issue when half your scoring is wade and Lebron driving the basket.

As insinuated by someone else' reply to you, already this playoff people are making it out to seem like Durant is carrying his team to the NBA finals. It's not just Skip Bayless spouting incredulous stuff like "Durant is the most complete player in the NBA right now" and so on. I'm not hating on Durant, I think he's a phenomenal player, but I think it's hogwash to consider him a superior player to Lebron.
If Durant wins, and I was even saying this before it turned into a Durant vs Lebron, if Durant wins you'll never hear the end of Durant > Lebron. And now that they are "matched up man to man" (even if it's not the case in reality) if Durant beats Lebron, short of some sort of doubling or tripling of rings or some sort of revenge match in the Finals, you'll never, ever hear the end of Durant > Lebron. You can have Durant with one ring and Lebron end with two and you'll forever hear "Lebron could never beat Durant, he was worse."
It'd be insufferable.

Word. People popping off about how Durant was robbed of an MVP after his gamewinner in game 4 against the Lakers -- a game where they would never have had a chance if not for Russell Westbrook going nuts and clearly being the best player that game -- was bad enough. Much respect to KD, he's already a killer and he's got a ridiculously bright future ahead of him, but he's just not on LeBron's level.
Heat in 6. DO IT FOR SEATTLE

I'm thinking OKC in 5, possibly 6. I concur with a lot of sentiment here simply that Lebron > Durant atm.

Idk guys all I know my gut instinct has been doing well these playoffs( winners of series, and knowing when to switch favorites in btwn series) and also Bradley winning the fight last night..and I am riding Miami right now..money on them. No logic here just instinct lol..ill be back later with logic.

I'm a Kings fan but if (when) the Maloofs move the Kings out of Sac, there is no chance of me being a fan of the Anaheim or wherever else Kings. That's absolutely ridiculous that as a Sonics fan you would be just fine and dandy with Clay Bennett stealing your team and classless assholes selling shirts like this: ![[image loading]](http://larrybrownsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/okc-thunder-seattle-shirt-530x414.jpg)
It's really interesting the difference a year makes in the perception of this Miami team. Who would have ever thought that they'd be pegged as underdogs in a series? There's no question that OKC has the deeper team, but Miami has the best player on the planet playing at or near the best he's ever played, and Miami's defense is better than anything OKC's faced so far. OKC's got some real matchup problems if the Heat go small with Bosh at the 5 and LeBron playing PF as well, which I fully expect them to do plenty of. But, in the end, this outcome of this series will probably be determined at the shooting guard slot: is the real D. Wade going to show up this series, and can he stop Harden?

Go Miami! I really want Lebron to win a ring. Not only does he deserve one, but maybe once he finally wins one, we can stop talking about him needing to prove himself.

hehe yea that seems to be the standard for most of those brackets. Maybe I took it to seriously but I didnt think the Lakers would beat the thunder so wishing it in a bracket didnt seem like worth anything.

It's a metaphor to superman.
They're normal outside of the game, "Clark Kent" and they're superman in the game.
