You seem completely oblivious to racism in America as a whole, or are racist yourself if you think a 6'3'' 140lb man could beat up a man who had over 100lbs on him and a gun. Zimmerman is a pussy and deserves the death penalty, and if it were my son I would have already killed him myself.
Oh please. Your pathetic white guilt aside, it's entirely believable that a 6'3" young athlete who's probably closer to 170 if you're not looking at pictures of when he's 12 years old, beat up a fat guy with asthma, especially after getting the first punch as all the reports indicate. And considering he was suspended for 10 days from school, I'm guessing he even has recent fight experience.
This seems really crazy to me. It's kind of impossible to know exactly what happened because we don't have enough good evidence yet so arguing over whether he is guilty or not seems a bit pointless. However, I can't understand the police not investigating this. I would think that if someone was shot, even if you were 99% sure it was self defence, you would investigate it because the defendant is obviously going to say it was self defence, that is just self preservation,. You have to assume he is lying about it and try and figure out whether it actually was self defence or not.
“I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly not to let their children go out wearing hoodies. I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin‘s death as much as George Zimmerman was,” the Fox News host said Friday on “Fox and Friends.”
It's difficult to tell if Geraldo is just pining for more media spotlight, but this is extremely controversial to say the least. I don't know if the comparison is warranted between this statement and that of rape victims being partially responsible based on their choice of dress. In any case, it's difficult for myself as an individual to take seriously anyone who posits such a grossly disingenuous argument.

'if any is deserved'— so on one hand you say he needs to fess up and serve his time, but on the other you accept that he may not actually have any to do, in which case what is he going to fess up to? He has 'fessed up' to acting in self defense in his taking of the life of Trayvon Martin; I'm not sure what you want beyond that(a confession to murder?).

At some point the Zimmerman will have to make a statement to the press. How he handles that will probably determine whether he'll get a chance to live a normal life (versus a life where he's universally despised).
The race baiting the media has done is ridiculous. We don't know all the facts that the police officers know and I highly doubt they are all racists. I think I heard somewhere that they aren't all white and are very mixed, but I haven't looked it up so I don't really know. Anyways, calling this guy white at the start then saying that Rush and the GOP caused this is a fucking joke. This will start riots.

He looks more like a vato/ese in the picture where he's wearing all orange than he is white.

Did you throw the first punch? How much were you instigating? Was your life in danger?
There's a clear difference between approaching someone to ask what they are doing, and walking up to someone and punching them out.
If no one else sees what happens I guess its all good either way because the dead don't tell tales.
Wow. That's all I can say. Fucking WOW. The MOTHER of Trayvon is trying to get her late son's name TRADEMARKED! You know why people get things trademarked? FOR PROFIT! She is going to profit from the death of her son. Who does that?

I have read all the facts in this case all the sources all the peoples accounts. More of which are coming out in defense of trayvon. The only conclusion i can come to is this.. even if this man did first approach trayvon( he would have had to in order for the incident to start) and even if he did get in a fight. in no way does that justify the use of deadly force.. the terrible SYG law aside. Where i come from if you lose a fight you lick your wounds and go home... you DO NOT pull out a gun PERIOD. I would also like to add that i do not believe Mr Zimmermans story even one Iota because it just doesn't make logical sense. but even if he did get beat up THATS ALL THAT HAPPENS in no way is pulling out a gun and killing someone ever appropriate

Million Hood March + 10$ CDs = Bank
I would be pissed if someone were to try to profit off my son's death, but never would I personally try to profit off my son's death. Because she's making such a move, the only factor in such a move here is the money that she would be missing out on. Remember: Million Hood March + 10$ CDs = Bank
Looks like Zimmerman may not have been so crazy to think Trayvon was a suspicious character.
Multiple suspensions paint complicated portrait of Trayvon Martin
Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a “burglary tool,” The Miami Herald has learned.
According to the report, on Oct. 21 staffers monitoring a security camera at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School spotted Trayvon and two other students writing “W.T.F.,” an acronym for “What the f---,” on a hallway locker, according to schools police. The security employee, who knew Trayvon, confronted the teen and looked through his bag for the graffiti marker.
Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described the screwdriver as a burglary tool.

Having your head banged into concrete by a football player would constitute a life threatening situation. Tell me, would you not be scared if you had or have a child, and that child's head was being banged repeatedly into concrete?
How could he be a vigilante when he phones police?
He became a vigilante when he chose to take matters in his own hands instead of waiting for the police.
Wow, that was easy.
Edit: Vigilante is too badass a word. He became Paul Blartt, Incompetent Protector of the Neighborhood.
im glad you see everything in black and white, but its not really that simple. the DOJ is involved now and the White House is paying attention. don't you think that they would have the guy arrested immediately if they thought it was so simple?
I caught a question, because you seem to know the ins-and-outs of the legal system better than most -- do you think there is anything he could be charged with, assuming that it is determined that he was defending himself?
Is he simply guilty of being an idiot? What kind of information would have to come to light for his idiocy to be considered illegal?
i think he can and should be charged with the killing, and the self defense tested in court. however, assuming the self defense was reasonable, i dont think there is any criminal liability. there is also apparently civil immunity under Florida Law, so no to that as well.
Yeah this is what's been bothering me the most with this issue. Maybe someone more versed than me in US criminal procedure (or how the police/prosecution act generally) can help. The elements of murder (homicide) are present (this is beyond dispute), its up to the defendant to prove his defence following a complete police investigation. In UK law, self-defence has to be proportionate (as previously mentioned I know nothing/very little about US/florida criminal law). I don't understand how this is not enough for a charge to be brought.
What a lot of people don't understand is that the police only have so long to bring formal charges after arresting a person. In a case so controversial when ALL the evidence points towards Zimmermans story being correct, you don't want to arrest a person and have to conduct your investigation WHILE the person is arrested. Otherwise you might be in court with an incomplete set of facts or a half done investigation. On the other hand, why not investigate first and then later have a judge issue an arrest warrant? If the facts bear you out then you have a much better chance of winning in court.
my recent existence on earth has consisted of not knowing whether to be infuriated or depressed
He screwed up and now everything's catching up. It's not natural to call the police hundreds of times in a year and he was clearly either too paranoid or too zealous, and now his obsessive nature has finally caught up with him. If he wants his life back, he just has to do one thing; pay his dues. The sooner he fesses up and serves his time - if any is deserved - then the sooner everyone will look past this situation. From then on he can pick up the pieces and move on with his life.
You mean less then a hundred times over 10 years right?

Really you are gonna come at me like that ... the fact that people think Trayvon was winning this fight is ridiculous, uniformed and sad...
Im really starting to lose my faith in civilized humanity

"Zimmerman told police he he'd lost sight of Martin and was heading back to his car when the youth suddenly stepped into his path. According to the Sentinel, Martin asked Zimmerman if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no and reached for his cellphone. Martin then said something like, "Well, you do now" and punched him, according to the Sentinel's sources."
