While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.
1. Naniwa didn't have a code S seed. He merely was being considered as one of the two invites. 2. There was always meant to be two code S invites. Due to Naniwa's lack of professionalism, they decided to invite Sen and Idra instead. 3. People don't actually know what's written in the contracts nor do people know how the Korean legal system works. So stop talking as if GOM can't legally do this and do that. You don't know anything.
Banned from ESL Banned from IEM Now banned from GSL, haha this guy never learns
He had it coming, calling MLG a joke tournament in front of a huge audience, calling nestea an idiot, refusing to shake hands with drg, and now refusing to play a game he was paid to play
He may get away with it in the western countries but in Korea if you dont know what the word respect is you better go home, he acted like an a**hole and he should be treated like one, good decision by GOM, I'm buying my tickets this season

You really think it's a Korean principle to, if you're paid to have people watch you play a game, actually make some attempt at playing the game?
Actually they are not payed to play for us, but we pay to see them play. Quite a difference. And he played 100% when it mattered.
PLEASE make this the thread topic!
GOM paid him $850 to play 4 games in the group stages. he played 3. it's funny how people choose to blatantly ignore facts to mount a supposed "argument"
You ignore that there had to have been a contract between him and GomTV. Since they chose not to use a rule stating "this player has to play at least 4 games", such a rule did not exist. Instead they used a borderline illegal rule, that would not pass in a court of law.
A rule they have never enforced previously, even though if what NaNiWa did can be considered as breaking it, then GomTV have disregarded tens or even hundreds of previous incidents where it was broken, without punishing the players involved.
GomTV has, in addition to acting more arrogant and amateurish than NaNiWa ever has, acted illegally.
As a lawyer, I have to say, arguing over a contract we haven't seen and may or may not exist is futile.
There had to have been a contract (written or oral) between Naniwa and GOM for the tournament he played in. There did not have to be a contract with him for a future tournament that hasn't begun yet, which Naniwa believed he would get to play in. (And would have, had he simply 4-gated/etc.)
Further, you are not a Korean lawyer, and have no basis for stating what would or would not pass in a Korean court of law.
And how come the new system for GOM can apply retroactive making Naniwa an invite? Naniwa won fair and square and MLG should defend Naniwa in this one. The punishment can't be the prize of another major tournament.
At some point we need to decide whether this is a sport or a videogame played online, where trolling is considered 'funny' as opposed to unprofessional conduct.
It's true that in professional sports teams will field their B-listers in games that 'don't matter'. They will not instruct their B-listers - say in an NBA game - to only move around the basketball court via cartwheel.
I don't know how the State of the Game crew will come down on this matter, but it's obvious, one hundred per cent obvious, that they feel Naniwa was out of line in what he did. I suspect they'll agree that his being uninvited to Code S is harsh, but I bet they won't condemn GomTV.
I'm reminded that his team put out a tweet reminding all of their followers that Naniwa vs Nestea was about to happen.
I wonder if his team put up that tweet because they were so proud of advertising that Naniwa was about to 100% phone it in?
Naniwa does not just represent himself anymore. nobody who wants to call themselves a professional does. This was why SlayersCoca got EVISCERATED by Slayers after his behaviour. He brought - in theory at least - his entire team into disrepute. That can't be allowed to stand.
Quantic may choose not to punish Naniwa, but I bet they weren't pleased either, and most importantly, GomTV felt disrespected, they felt he disrespected the GSL stage, and they've sent a clear message that they're not putting up with that. If he wants to do ceremonies after a match, he can have fun with that, but you don't piss about IN THE GAME.
In my opinion, just loading up a game does not count as playing it. Nor does executing a 'strategy' with a 0% win rate which requires two less keyboard presses than simply typing GG and surrendering inside ten seconds.
Pretty brutal outcome. Can't say it wasn't expected though. Hopefully in the end it will lead to this kind of thing never happening again...and hopefully Naniwa can earn his way back to code S in time.

Unfortunately I don't think that that's too unlikely.
(sup double negative)
It's no loss to gom if naniwa chooses not to compete in GSL in the future. It's a life lesson for naniwa and it's really like the 10th+ life lesson for him now. Whether he chooses to learn from this and change to be a more respectful person is up to him. Given his past history, I'm not too optimistic about that.

Didnt you watch the stream? He DID play FOUR games. Are you dense?
not even going to bother. you must be one of the advocates that the probe rush is a legitimate strategy in starcraft 2.
But where do you get the idea that he was payed $850 to play 4 games? thats money he won by makeing it into the tournament.
he did not win anything, this argument of self entitlement to what's never yours is starting to get ridiculous. gom is not stupid enough to send some guy $850 for winning some random tournament half across the world. he got the money for completing the group stages which he didn't. it's in the rules.
He did complete it you fing moron. Where in the rules does it say that 7 probe rush is illegal?
where does it say in the rules that GOM can't take away his code S rights? hey I can pull this "no rule for x" excuse all day too.
Excuse? Have you ever heard of a contract? Do you understand that breaking them is illegal?
Do you realize they have rules in place that allow them to void said privelages.
And last time I checked it wasn't official due to the new format.
Do you understand law? Any rule that is not on his contract can not be used to revoke what he, according to the contract, has a right to.

Yep only it wasnt the players, it was their organizers and they didn't have enough money to send them over. Totally different scenario. derp.
NASL provided them with whatever they needed, raised the amount of money but they still wanted more ...
And Choya saying in his Twitter that he is a bastard or what ever should just stfu ...
I think Blizzard ( no GOM ) should ban Naniwa for life for spatting in the faces of the whole community. No Blizzard games for him anymore. Fingerprints ban.
On December 15 2011 03:29 Lazermonkey wrote: Lol @ people claiming probe rush has the same winratio as 6 pool. Imo I think GOM did the right thing.
Doesn't probe rush beat 6 pool?
Drones beat probes 1v1 and you can cancel the pool and build 3 drones
Assuming you micro them, according to wolf Nani didn't even had his hands on his keyboard while the attack was happening.
Anyways, regarding Naniwa earning himself the code S seed: Sorry, but I can only laugh about that. Yes, he definitely earned himself the invite to the blizzard cup because he posted great results, but there is only one way to EARN code S: and that is going through code A.

Then we just would've said Naniwa is having a giant breakdown and then Naniwa fans hope he doesn't say something stupid again like implicating himself of throwing the game.
I mean people would've been suspicious but logically him having a breakdown is absolutely plausible given how he acts.
Basically if he didn't straight up throw the game and tried to hide it instead he would've been absolutely fine.

lmao. lets hear about this awesome contract that you know GOM signed with Naniwa before the tournament.
On December 15 2011 03:27 paulinepain wrote: Saying that it was a wrong behavior because people are expecting good shows and paying for it is irrelevant, you can go watch football in a stadium, players aren't forced to make you happy by putting a good show, they play the way they want nobody is forcing you to watch them and as a player nobody is forcing you to win if you don't want to. Now this behavior was harsh and disrespectful towards Nestea.
Now GOMTV decision is for me wrong because they acted like they actually had rules against this type of situation, which they hadn't, therefore they should have made a public statement and then publish their new policies and ask Naniwa to make a public apology. I think this procedure would have been more professional for a scene that is actually new.
Actually your example is hilarious, since teams are not allowed to throw games in the NHL, NFL, MLB, etc.
What is hilarious is that in British English football means soccer ok and not American football. And hell yeah there is nothing that doesn't allow you to lose a game on purpose, and you have tons of different way to do it...Like making play all your youngsters in a competition that is not worth the effort for your main team...
He deserved it, and all you fanboys need to get of Naniwas dick. If you do some lurkin youll find out that Naniwa was disliked before the whole probe fiasco, in Korea. Naniwa has no respect for tournaments and its staff, From TSL when there was lag and he told Chill to get out, from going on MLG and calling it a joke tournament on live stream because it was not cross positions(Fuckin pro player he is, if he needs to pause and think of new strats in a game hes been playing competitvle for a long time). From being extremly shady like asking to go to bathroom at wierd times during games and pausing games to think of new strats and looking at replays when he shouldnt.
Maybe this will teach Naniwa that hes not hot shit and he needs to respect tournaments and staff more because without tournys Naniwa will need to learn how to flip burgers.
lol. This is funny. Like highly comical. Personally i dont see the big deal with him probe rushing a game like that..... Guess next time you better just 4gate or proxy 2gate, with the same intended outcome, just so you dont get banned. Oh man people like to blow things out of proportion. I guess you need honor to be a pro gamer these days O.o
Sucks for nani - GL in whatever you try to do next
