If they don't care about what the starcraft community thinks about them, then surely, we can respond (naturally) and bash their community with no remorse. You treat others the way you want to be treated. If they half-heartedly bashed the starcraft community, then I would feel free to half-heartedly bash their community. Why did they feel the need to make a video-long apology if they think that the situation is not that big and that we're the ones overreacting?

Why did they feel the need to make a video-long apology if they think that the situation is not that big and that we're the ones overreacting? Let's be honest, there's no such thing as half-heartedly bashing a community in response to another community half-heartedly bashing us. If you bash them because of this, it's because it is a big deal to you. So no, you would be bashing them in a serious manner. Those guys were just poking fun at us. We should poke them back. But not with your mindset. In fact, most of the mindsets here are absolutely ridiculous. Some of this community are bashing their game when they didn't even say a word about SC2 itself. Then there's the "unintelligent" remarks which is a contradiction already considering you're an idiot if you take them seriously. That's why I'm so glad that the figure heads of this community are people like Day 9 who would probably just joke back at them. Instead of some of the people who personally attack them with the intention of hurting them. From my point of view, these guys are goofballs and people need to just laugh. I've played shooters for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more time in my life (as in time spent playing) than RTS games, but I certainly don't want to watch other people play shooters. They simply are not spectator friendly, which is a big factor in the success of a competitive game. I do sympathize with them -- their game is dying. I'm sure horse and buggy makers got upset about the attention the model T was getting. Henry Ford was soooooo dorky. Halo used to be my primary game. I went to tournaments, played Halo on the weekends with my buddies at LAN parties, and would spend maybe a couple of hours every day playing on xbox live. And to be honest, I was capable of taking games off of pro players. I've been there, done that. I never could have won tournaments - teamwork is a huge factor in Halo, and the biggest challenge in their community is just finding the right people to play with. But the game itself doesn't require as much practice as ours. I used to watch Halo a lot, sometimes still do, and it is usually a big deal when the casters mention that so-and-so practiced 8 hours a day before a tournament. Basically, you can be a professional Halo player without putting in full-time practice. Now think about Starcraft. If it were this way, the level of skill would probably be a lot lower, and the game might not be as interesting to watch. The reason SC has blown up around the globe is because it became such a big sporting event in Korea - and that's because the players there put in so much time and work into the game that it became a thing of wonder to spectate a pro match. Sc2 has just taken that and magnified it around the globe, but still, it's the Korean mindset that has made Sc2 such a competitive sport. Sc2 players put in a lot of time into practice. And as a result, our community has followed suit in many ways. We do put in more time/effort/passion into our game (you need look no further than TL itself to notice that, lol) and so I do think it's fair to say that we are the bigger nerds here. Halo is for casual players. Sc2 is for the more dedicated. What's amazing to me is that Sc2 is doing better in viewers - and I guess it's because games played casually aren't as fun to watch as games played with heart. Which makes us all a bunch of sick nerd ballers :D

If they were the underdog like the foriengers are with korea, we would see stricter practice schedule tbh.

For the foreign SC players. But the koreans are stylish as can be. Korean BW players are practically idols/sex symbols over there. Just look at primezzang. An entire Starcraft team website dedicated to being stylish. And not "sideways baseball caps and nikes" stylish like halo players.

Therefore they say stupid shit to get our attention and now they have it. I agree. This video actually seems like a cry for help. They literally called out their ENTIRE community after dissing sc2. You know what happens when you dis sc2? You get a 1000 page thread on TL and EVERYONE watches the video (well, some people will only listen to 15 seconds of it). They EMBARRASSED their fans if what they said was serious about their community. I think we should accept them and just coexist with them and actually act like adults instead of a bunch of mudslinging neanderthals

Also, they rip on their own community a whole lot, to try and balance the ripping on the Starcraft community. Honestly though, from a "too cool for Starcraft" perspective, you'll point at players who live in a team house and train their asses off and then basically say "Herp derp, no life. I can relate better to a Halo progamer." It's not the Starcraft community's fault that our franchise is older and has better pro-gaming infrastructure and more serious, long-term appeal, due to the game's almost infinite skill cap. It's not our community's fault that RTS happens to have a crown jewel, whereas FPS is the most saturated genre around. Like sitting at your computer is any different from melting into your couch... Gimme a fucking break. Douchebags. EDIT: I sound like I'm mad at anybody who agrees with these dudes, or really likes Halo. I'm just trying to point out that they're just like we are. We all love video games, and have probably played trillions of games between all of us. They just need to not hurt e-sports. Precious e-sports...
