In fact, please edit that out >_< all you're doing is being inflammatory. Edit- actually I think that's exactly the intent of the thread being made here. This seriously is a case of someone taking a joke literally and a wave of offended posters that didn't watch the video for context but posted in retribution anyway.

Seriously kids in here blowing this way outta proportion, their community is tiny anyway, like what they say makes any impact on us. They are clearly jealous of what our community has produced, they're try trying to rile up theirs. RELAX my fellow nerds.

In both videos(minus the first 5 minutes of the video posted in the OP), these guys are talking about how no one in the Halo community is backing up the competitive scene and how the pro players of Halo are refusing to come together to try to save their game. That is what these videos are about. They are about trying to get their community to back Halo and their Pro players to work together to make it past this next year to when Halo 4 is supposed to come out. I feel that the OP did a terrible job with this thread, not because they said you only had to watch the first 10 minutes of the second not as important video, but because they put their voice completely against the video in the very first sentence. On December 05 2011 10:52 firehand101 wrote: This is the video that has inspired this thread. If you can't view it, it is basically 3 notable identities in the halo community discussing their thoughts on starcraft in general, and most are just plain offensive and cheap shots at our game (most are in the first 10 minutes so that is all you have to watch to get the general idea). As you all know, if you do that on the internet there WILL be people who grab onto that as the truth and run with it. Now the OP didn't mention that in the other video, "The Great Debate", two of the people in the OP's posted video are praising SC2 pretty much the whole time. Not only that, but in "The Great Debate" they talk about things that they can take from other gaming communities to try to save Halo's community. In the OP's video(I won't deny that it starts off sounding like it is against SC2) they are just joking around about stereotypes of SC2 players. Granted this doesn't help their message, but if you watched the video it would be obvious that they were joking around about it in the beginning since for the rest of the video they keep going back to SC2's amazing community as an example. I can see how people could take the first 5 minutes of the OP's posted video the wrong way, and I am fine with that. What embarrasses me is that they felt so much pressure from our community running away with the idea of them flaming us that they took down their video with the comments in it and made an apology video. Are we that paranoid about people saying things about our community that we can't even take a few jokes about us(some of them were even things we say about ourselves, like calling ourselves nerds)? If group of people should be making an apology, it should be the SC2 community that jumped on their backs without even trying to listen to more than 5 minutes of over 2 hours of video they have made about the subject(note that in the other 115 minutes there is only good comments about SC2 and the community aside from a comical jest every once and a while...). (Yes I do know that the apology they made was really not an apology at all, but it is just the fact that they felt the need to make it that upsets me.)

You just can't imagine the asshats playing these games. Faux thugs and Abercrombie dbags abound. I love esports but there are elements I don't want to touch with a ten foot pole.

That being said, who cares? SC2 and computer gaming is slowly taking over the eSport's community, we already took MLG away from Halo. After the Halo finals finished and they switched to SC2 their STILL wasn't enough seats for the SC2 community to all sit down. We had more standing people watching SC2 then Halo had sitting + playing.

All they are trying to do is get their game back to where it used to be. Halo Reach was a huge flop for the competitive scene, the changes introduced with the release of the game did not go well for MLG at all, and it lost a lot of that fire it once had with Halo CE/2/3. I just think the way they tried to motivate their community by trash talking SC2 players and its community was in bad taste. Which if you look at it, what they said about how the SC2 players have no life outside their game, what they are basically saying is that the SC2 Pros are just more dedicated to the game, to their job than the Halo community. I mean you didn't hate on Wayne Gretzky for playing too much hockey, because that's what he was passionate about, that's what he did. Overall I understand what those three guys were trying to get done with that whole episode, but they did it in the dumbest way possible.

The conversation, I felt, was intended to be more like a football vs baseball conversation that a couple of friends at the bar would have. At least that was my mindset. If I ever imagined the exposure this would've gotten (thanks Kennigit), I'm sure most of us would've chose different language. I thought it was light-hearted and held no real merit. The topic is obviously fluff but it seems to have struck a nerve with a lot of Redditor's. Actually, this stemmed from a conversation that Starcraft players are more dedicated, putting in countless hours where Halo players are not and therefor have more time to do other things. I'm fully aware of the godly Korean fashion sense. Koreans playing soccer with other houses. EG dudes hitting the gym together. Again, the first five minutes of our conversation holds no weight -- as we were hamming up our obnoxious characters. I do understand why some would get defensive. I'm not as hardcore as many of the people out there. More like a birds-eye-view. I get that this is a way of life for some, so any sort of criticism is taken pretty personally. In all honesty though, I don't think I would ever get upset if someone outside of my community compared the wardrobe of players. Regardless, the entire point is worthless and it's a shame you had to see those 5 minutes over some of the other content we've produced. I appreciate most of the TL dudes dismissing the importance of this video. Just wanted to let you know where this came from. Regardless, I never considered myself a leader of the Halo community. I'm certainly not speaking on there behalf. I'm hardly speaking on my own behalf. Let me know if you have any questions.
