So how do we solve this problem? Build DEEPS.

Open: Doran's Blade

Phage
Youmu's Ghostblade
Bloodthirster
Phantom Dancer
Finish Frozen Mallet
Sell Doran's Blade, buy Guardian Angel
How to play: Farm like a madman. Get your items. Abuse your stuns and beat the shit out of whoever you're attacking. They can't touch you because of your W, and they can't run from you because of your chase, and they can't chase you because of your stuns. Try to avoid fighting when your W shield is off because you get kinda squishy without it. Other than that, you run around and always kill never die.
FAQ:
Q: But Leona has no abilities that scale with damage!
A: Shut the hell up and just do it.
Q: Leona should max out CDR for max stuns, shouldn't she?
A: What the hell are you, Udyr? Leona doesn't have an ability that says "I do free damage." Why does she need more stuns when she can only poke people?
Q: Leona needs magic penetration for her spells, not armor penetration, and her attacks don't work with her passive...

I do not like your build. I tried her out as a support tank with cv+ghost and a good mix of tanky aura/cdr and g/sec items + wards. She doesn't need to deal damage and a forced dps build seems not only strange but also kind of wasted on her. Especially if you consider that a jarvan or any other AD-tank would do much more with this kind of build.

I do not like your build. Your build involves running around like a chicken while relying on your teammates to win the game for you. Your skill level becomes irrelevant with that build. This is why people that do nothing but play Janna do not deserve their ELO.

Actually thats a false and bold statement. Dedicated supports influence the game just as much as carries. The carry term is often misunderstood (especially in LoL).

To be more serious though, Leona is already pretty tanky as hell with just her W. It's like Rammus's defensive ball curl 2.0. I really don't think you need many defensive items to tank anyways.

Herp Derp I can't farm properly or bully people in lane so instead I'm going to play a support so I can CC you to the point where because its a team game it doesn't matter if you're better than me as long as I can CC you long enough to where my ally will be able to shoot you down and then I can laugh in your face for being bad. I'm going to try superhard in normal and ranked games because I care more about having big numbers on my summoner screen than I do at having fun. I play the game to win, not to have fun, and I build champions in the way to abuse Riot's apparent inability to balance defensive items properly.

It's not like I'm saying anything inaccurate. Leona does in fact have 3 CC, does in fact have real strong tankiness, and does in fact do no damage. This is just my way of combining the three.
a)-her tankiness lets her stay in melee
b)-her cc lets her keep enemies in range
c) giving her damage offsets her no damage problem

Smash, can you please make a real Leona guide thread considering you're probably the TLer who played her most as of late (who is probably one of the highest level players here)? The problem with making a real Leona guide right now is that she sucks no matter what you build on her, IMO. She scales awfully with items in general, no synergies between items and her skills anywhere (except MAYBE CDR, and even then she has serious itemization problems in getting that CDR).
Leona is like Jarman, only squishier, with less damage, without an escape move, and she scales horribly compared to him (Atmog's Jarman #1).

I tried building philo hog merc --> wits end trinity force randuins fon and it worked well, but I got pretty fed. Not sold on trinity force on her but I think a phage is still good
Attack speed is pretty good because you stack the passive like a mad man for your dps'ers in the back.

So if she has good base values but scales awfully, cant you just send her bottom lane as some kind of Taric? I mean she lacks a heal but makes up for it with more CC and damage. I'd imagine Leona + MF or Trist to be a real terror lane.

double Gp10 is how i usually open on her. her passive doesn't come from her auto attacks, it comes from her abilities.

Scaling damage-wise doesn't mean shit for what Leona was designed to do: being a true-tank. Remember CDR tank ali before AP Ali became fotm? Now that was a true tank. Building CDR and just being a CC bot that could soak damage for the team. You don't NEED to do damage as a tank if you can keep your team alive through CC and taking damage for them. And even if she does no damage she can stunlock the carry so they do no damage, so you're required to get her off your carry if that's the case.
Even her skills allow her to do exactly that -> her e goes through all champions and goes to the last hit -> the carry is supposed to be behind the tank line so would be in back -> thus her e is designed to get at the carry and stunlock their face. And a no defense carry will still take damage from someone who "does no damage."
I think people are too hung up over tanky dps who are tanky while doing damage because of their scaling and base stats. The difference is leona has even more cc than tanky dps. Only really Jarvan is comparable but Jarvan is more of either jungle or solo top. He's not as good duo bot like Leona because you want him to get farmed.

You need a strong stat growth in terms of base AD, which Leona doesn't really have.
I think she should be played as a CDR/Aura whore imo. With her W, she's already super tanky. Low ability base damages with low scaling means she's not going to get much out of building damage. Low base AD means she's not really gonna be an autoattacker via triforce or otherwise.

It works great at levels 1-2. It works okay at levels 3-4. After that, a carry + healer lane should blow you out of the water.

Seriously, why is everybody hating on caller. This is how caller plays his leona. It's just different than the way other people play her. There's no right or wrong in terms of builds. There might be other choices like tank renek, and dps renek. Is one necessarily the right choice over the other? No! So open your mind and accept other ideas, and don't be stuck to one way to play a champion.
