I really like PsyStarcraft.

Does Day9 have a youtube channel?

Still waiting for a Klazart sc2 cast!

For pure entertainment and better speaking TotalBiscuit wins hands down. For good insight and strategy is where the other casters such as day9 and tasteless fall into. IMO

Day9 has the moste knowledge about the game, but sometimes its hard to listen to him.
TheGunrun has the best voice, but is lacking some of the insights of the game. i really expect alot from this guy in the future.

rise is terrible. he never actually understands whats going on, he usually ends up talking about stuff other than the game half the time, and his dogs will inevitably start barking in the middle of a cast.

in alphabetical order:
Day9
HD
Husky
Tasteless

My favorite comment though has to be whenever Husky describes the queen as punching or slapping around ground units. It makes me laugh every time.

I think there are two important qualities in a caster: the first is depth of knowledge about the game, and the second is the ability to do play-by-play well. The latter shouldn't be underestimated, and it's not just reciting what's happening on screen: it's all about being able to narrate a compelling story, and convey excitement while doing so. A little humor is important. Even having a good voice is part of this.

So being a good analyst and a compelling play-by-play guy are important parts of being a caster. It's rare to see both of these skills together, which is one reason why you see pro sports matches on TV and radio have multiple broadcasters, with a division of responsibilities between the "analyst" and the "play-by-play guy".

I think Day[9] is the only caster which has *both* of these qualities down pat. He is obviously really good at providing deep insights into the game and helping mid-level players understand high-level play, but just take a look at his recent daily where he narrated a 2v2 among his housemates to see how much of an entertaining play-by-play guy he can be. That's why he's such a great caster.

In comparison, many more casters are stronger in one or the other. HDStarcraft gets a lot of flak here for the depth of his knowledge, but I think he's a tremendously great play-by-play guy, perhaps the best out there. (Husky is good at play-by-play too, if sometimes a bit to heavy on the sarcasm) On the other extreme, Gretorp is super-knowledgeable and insightful with his analysis, but I find him pretty boring as a play-by-play guy. I don't know if he was just really tired having to wake up early for the Europe-Asia showmatches, but whenever he talked his voice made me want to fall asleep...partly because *I* was tired after waking up early for the Europe-Asia showmatches.

I havent been watching starcraft 2 commentated games because I have been busy playing, but it seems like day 9 is the best so far, as he is not to shabby as a player. I am definetly looking forward to watch a few Tasteless shows (maybe artosis to, come on, we all know artosis is going to pop in a couple of times^^)

TotalBiscuit (aka TotalHalibut, who did some let's plays on youtube/SA) is an outstanding commentator. Unfortunately, last I saw he didn't have a whole lot of SC2 knowledge. But he's a very adept speaker.

1 day9 - so incredibly informative and a fun dude to listen to
2 totalbiscuit - highly entertaining, always fresh and fun
3 psyonic reaver - allround good stuff, nice to watch him play too
4 HD + husky (they tend to repeat themselves alot and gets fairly annoying lately)
I'll bite this hand that feeds me, and take it for my own!

I have to agree with you, when it comes to humour, husky is champion.

Here's an example of TotalBiscuit's commentary:
