Ace < Outsider > Ace
Preview/Predictions
+ Show Spoiler +
Set 1:
EffOrt vs.
Bisu on Heartbreak Ridge
These two meet for the third time already this year, this time not on Medusa or it’s newest incarnation, but on Heartbreak Ridge. Their first match was a positively electrifying ZvP brouhaha, with Bisu earning the hard fough win. While their second meeting failed to live up to the hype of the first, (Bisu rolled for the easy victory) this still has to be one of the more anticipated ZvP pairings (gameplay - wise), right behind
Bisu/
Jaedong and
Bisu/
July. While Bisu may have the added responsibility of practicing for the Ace match, I’m sure EffOrt will be devoting all his time to toppling KTY, if his play against Flash (with admittedly little preparation) was any indication, I think it’s only a matter of time before EffOrt knocks off SKT’s top Protoss - so why not now?
Prediction:
EffOrt >
Bisu, CJ up 1-0.
Set 2:
sKyHigh vs.
BeSt on Destination
If there were any "statement" games that sKyHigh made before his All-Kill at the Winners League Grand Finals, his series against BeSt in last season's GomTV Classic would definitely be it. Before they clashed in the Round of 8, sKyHigh was CJ's pet project Terran, with signs of promise, but no hard evidence to show that his promise was becoming a reality. Three games later BeSt was gone from the Classic, and sKyHigh has people taking notice. After a few months apart, the two meet again on a familiar battle ground: Destination, where sKyHigh got the better of BeSt. I think this game will come down to who still more driven to prove himself. Right now sKyHigh seems to have solidified his place near the Top 5 of the BW scene, but BeSt has been out of sight out of mind for the most part. I look for Do Jaewook to take the initiative (and the map imbalance) and use it in his favor.
Prediction:
sKyHigh <
BeSt, Match tied at 1-1.
Set 3:
Kwanro vs.
Hyuk on Battle Royal
There's not much to talk about for this, yet another ZvZ on Battle Royal. Kwanro leads the head-to-head tally between the two players by a count of two to zero, after a series win against Hyuk in the last season of the Classic. Kwanro has been getting the results lately, but in watching his ZvZ's, especially his last win against Luxury, I get the distinct sense that his win was a product of luck and poor decision making by Luxury, and not any vestige of ZvZ prowess. Kwanro has been fortunate to have such a hot streak, and I think it's going to finally catch up to him this game, as Hyuk is respectable in his own right when it comes to ZvZ.
Prediction:
Kwanro <
Hyuk, SKT leads 2-1.
Set 4:
Movie vs.
fantasy on God's Garden
fantasy has to feel confident going into this match - Movie is one of the weaker opponents in CJ's deep lineup, and most of his notable wins have been of the PvP or PvZ varieties. Two PvT wins against MBC in one day of Winners League comprise Movie's best performance to date in the matchup. Terran does seem to suffer on God's Garden though I fear it will not be enough for Movie to overtake fantasy.
Prediction:
Movie <
fantasy, SKT wins 3-1 over CJ.
