The WCG page is a bitch to navigate, I know online qualifiers start soon, but does anyone know where they are to sign up for and view the brood war brackets on the WCG page?
This is like trying to find waldo in san francisco.

signed up for a bunch of em.. I don't think it matters? Kinda sad to see this site after I spoke so much with some of the big dogs at WCG.. little improvement imo and the structure seems pretty poor again (tourney) wise..

sad times

Looks like the first match is on april 13th. Hmm...what gets me is...is this going to all be online to qualify for the U.S. Nationals?

There's 8 qualifiers, seperated as East/West, so this assumes all 8 of the finalists go to U.S. Nationals? From what I've read in threads in the past years, and seen/experienced...won't this be a BW hack fest + drama if it's all online? o.o?

correct

BUT I SHOULD GET THIS OUT THERE

I am consulting for wcg and if any hacking/abusing goes on they have told me they will go with my word 100%.. no bullshit this year guys. You will be banned and black balled.

This doesn't mean dino/LS are banned.. they have proven they can play legit and will be given a chance just like anyone else. But if any fishy shit goes on I will be the go-to guy this year and no language barrier, stupid ass rule or complaining email to paul brewer will save you this time.

inc, if you're consulting for them, make sure they get some local LAN prelims again. 2005 style, both online and LAN qualifiers. or at least online qualifiers to go to LAN regionals. LAN's are so much more fun!

They are having offline "prelims" but they will be various events and they won't be made available for everyone.. I think they will actually only be in NY.. but my word isn't final on that.

USA invitational will have a birth to usa finals and I think a few more will do the same.

the Canadian page is still up from last year, it's the same people that have been doing it for a number of years. I would be surprised if Starcraft was included, I know Stephan a little and I know WCG Canada doesn't have a lot of money (what else is new?). Likely, Canadian qualifiers will be held at various events and LANs around Quebec and Ontario as well as a small online qualifier.

meaning you had to qualify online? i would def. go for it if i failed online so i could have a second chance, or just to be a spectator.

They are independent offline tourneys.. no qualification process necessary (afaik) that if you should win you go to usa finals.

running behind schedule is on time for them..

btw I know I sound rather scathing here but I cannot help to stress that some of you need to know we are still dealing with WCG here. They are trying to improve but perfection isn't made overnight (this last year).. they will continue to run this fairly poorly for as long as they decide that they know best how to run a SCBW tourney without having anyone who knows SCBW directly managing.

I thought they were going to make some strides but that meeting I talked about where they were going to consult with me in NY about WCG never happened. And the site is still really bad.. there is still time and I hope they use it.

Yea that's so annoying. They should just take 3-4 hours and get the whole thing played at once.

oh, they just sent out an email, apparently it's gonna be run as a ladder:

----------------------------------
WCG Competitor,

The Starcraft: Broodwar WCG Online Qualifier West Tournament #1 begins tomorrow (4/13) at 7PM PDT. Your event will be played as a ladder via WCG Zone.

To participate you will need to login to the GamOn client (http://file.wcgzone.com/WCGZoneInst_080602a.exe) using the WCG Zone ID and password that will be provided to you via Email tomorrow. You can begin to challenge players on the ladder tomorrow evening, and all through the week.

You can view the tournament competition guide which describes the game time process at http://qualify.us.wcg.com/files/file/WCG_2009_SC_Broodwar_Competition_Guide.pdf and the tournament rules at http://qualify.us.wcg.com/files/file/WCG_2009_Game_Rules_SCBW.pdf. Please read both documents carefully, and check your email tomorrow for your WCG Zone ID and password.

If you need any assistance, an admin will be in #wcg.support on irc.gamesurge.net periodically, as well as available via Support Ticket on the website 24/7. You can access the web-based support system at http://qualify.us.wcg.com/?page=support.

You’ll be able to see your opponents information and report your match score after the match is over directly from you’re My Matches page located. This page will be available tomorrow.

Good luck!

The email says its going to be a ladder, but the competition guide (included in the email in the very next sentence) says its going to be a tournament.

Amazing how stupid WCG can be.

Just checked my e-mail. They sent the info one hour ago which is 23 hours before the tournament is set to start!

edit: Regarding some comments above.

It really is kind of confusing because it's not clear if this is some sort of ladder qualifier like they did 2 years ago or a tournament where they play one round per day like they did last year. Since we are using the GamOn client though that makes me think it may be the ladder.

Oh, and still no map list. They say another e-mail will come tommorow though. Maybe it'll be like last year and be blue storm, python, and umm I don't remember the rest.

And in rules it says the maps will be:

Maps : WCG Gaia, WCG Paranoid Android, WCG Azalea, Neo Beakdu Daegan

I thought these rules might be the exact same as from years ago but at the end they did remember to change it to "WCG 2009". I'm sure that for the national finals and grand finals the maps will be updated. For tommorow though, I'm just hoping there will be an admin there who speaks english. Those maps aren't really THAT terrible... but I haven't played any of them in a while and besides Peaks they aren't very good P maps.

Wow, a ladder? I really liked last year's round day-by-day tournament style... Actually that would probably be hard for me to do but whatever it was nice. How do I recover my login password btw... -_-;; I can't find the forgot password link it's talking about

its not all online you get invitations to LAN's to qualify directly for the Finals, and i think if you go through the online qualifiers you have to use some gamon antihack launcher but i dont know much about that route
