I always root for estro thou because a small part of me likes those old after school specials where all the fat nerds make a baseball team or win a karate tournament.
Realistically really is better then lomo, young is uncharted, although he seems good, and medusa tvp isn't anybodys dream. I think Estro couldn't have gotten a better map/player lineup against lecaf. I think magma should have been on colo for a much better match.
I agree that estro couldn't have wished for anything better tbh, but at the same time you have a small P advantage on Colosseum, which might give Young that extra little energy to pull it off. I'm guessing a Lecaf 3-1 win.
if it gets to ace then I'm actually guessing that forgg will play CR, don' t know too much about estro so can't say who it'll be against. sure JD has been awesome on CR lately, but it IS a T heavy map in ZvT and I don't see why they should risk a loss in a ACE game (only JD and July have won on the new CR)
If estro makes it to ace, do not doubt that LJD will be there. If you have someone playing around 65% in all matchups who has caught fire you don't think you just press play. Just like bisu and flash right now.
eSTRO does have a fair chance with today's matchups, and I'M hoping to see some good games.
Lomo's wraith play vs zerg is refreshing, but aside from that, I don't think he is that good to defeat the current best player in eSTRO. Have you watched the MST game between Lomo and Light? His TVT is rather disappointing, maybe just a little better than his TVP. Even as a Lecaf fan, I don't see him beating Really.

I seem to have some issues on my end though - when installing activeX and TVants, and even the WinMPlayer11 for the daumstream nothing seem to happen. Rebooting software and reinstalling and what not doesnt help. Guessing I might have something blocking it? (Using Vista-64bit).
Jaedong once again on the cusp of 80% in the mirror matchup.
and we're back after a rather short commercial break. shot of hyvaa, i think, looking sort of relieved. shot of lecaf coach sketching something. lecaf coach's a G, he's the first member of lecaf I learned to appreciate. Replay of the last game, hyvaa had no chance at any point.
scouting overlord going diagonally and seeing hyvaa first really helped jd
It was still some pretty great defense by JD there, and i would think other zergs wouldn't have allowed him to be as greedy with drones as he was. With the positions reversed in that game, i'd expect JD to make a lot better use of his initial mutas.
looks like it's going to go to late game, suny's got 10 tanks sieged on his 2nd nat's ledge and the cc is building, young getting arbiter tech and expanding to NE main.
On January 06 2009 19:37 snapcrackle wrote: ewww lomo looks more and more sickly.... gain some weight and get some sun man. You didnt look this ghastly.
Really has 3 dropships out, moving in. Oh wait, Lomo intercepts them with 2 wraiths, and actually somehow clears the push from outside his natural as well!
Lomo's wraiths now being annoying and hitting tanks here and there.
Really has so many tanks though, it hardly matters. He easily clears out any attempts at a Lomo push, and adds a couple goliaths to deal with wraiths.
They're now splitting the map top-left to bottom-right. Really running around doing vulture raids again!
Lomo actually took 11 from Really and has it himself now, but Really is pushing on it with a huge force. SCVs move to defend with tanks as support, and now it's another stalemate (with mining stopped).
Lomo also stopped Really from pushing into 2 o'clock with a small force.
It's turned into your usual 'boring' TvT now, haha.
Lomo takes back the main at 11. I believe both are on 4 running bases, with Really having a slight eco advantage still.
Really makes Lomo have to stop mining at his natural yet again. HUGE amount of tanks there, some firing into the main, but there's not much to shoot at in range from just south of the nat.
Looks like Really is trying to drop somewhere, but settles for pushing out a bit more in the middle of the map, where Lomo had a sizable advantage.
Okay, rather large battle in the center, with nearly everything exploding. Seemed rather even, but then Really had about 10-15 tanks in reinforcement coming. They roll out and smash through 1 o'clock.
Lomo is definitely down bases now, and his tank count shows it. He's about to lose his only remaining mining bases, while he hasn't denied Really anything in quite a long time.
What a passive and uneventful TvT. Damn you for making it close for so long Lomo. -.-
Lomo is turtling in the main and natural at 11. He still has buildings in his main, but that doesn't look like it's going to last. He tries some fancy wraith vs dropship stuff, but goliaths solve that mess.
Lomo adding starports to what is likely going to be his new main (if he doesn't gg anytime soon).
Wow, Lomo makes a surprise move and goes offensive on one of Really's last mining expos (though he is now taking the stuff Lomo lost). That got cleaned up pretty fast.
Really pushing at the 11 natural. He's crushing it now.
Like alot of you I have become spoiled by corinthos's kindness.
Everybody complains about duam sports these days because of lag. Tonight the corinthos ogn stream wasn't working well for me so I resorted to my old tricks I go to the daum sports page, and open the link myself, so I get a different address. Once loaded one of two things will happen - it will begin buffering in increments of 2-5% ect and you will get a stream at the end of it that is choppy is lags. Thats sucks. So you want number two to happen, you load it up and it jumps in increments of 20-25% and starts in under 10 seconds at 512. I can do this every time for every match. How?.... I hit f5, every single time it loads if it doesn't start jumping numbers quickly I hit f5. Tonight it took me 6 tries, approx. a minute and a half. Once you get a perfect stream it will rarely go down. I have 128k dsl (crap!) connection on the west coast of california, I'm sure alot of you with better internet will benfit from this trick, I was taught it months ago by a european with a 3 meg or 10 meg or whatever insane speed sweden has.
I think this is the longest I've ever seen Forgg go on one base. He's done quite a bit of damage, but DTs keep cleaning things up and Sangho is on 2 steady bases now.
On January 06 2009 20:51 KreaGata wrote: Fuck, fOrGG's early harass didn't inflict enough damage. SangHo stayed composed and played well.
Exactly.
I mean still having the presence of mind to defend multiple-locations, lose nexus's and just get harrassed into your almost mined out main, and still countering with 2 dts and teching to arbs, when you have a poor eco and no army.... that was so perfect. Arbiters are like the pvt crutch like defilers ar zvt's
Instead of having to make 11 mutas and an overlord stall a terran until I get defilers, I get to actually make units!!! I want every terran playing mech
although Up has been playing pretty well as of late so I dunno. Then again JD's looking untouchable, but he's had to play sooooo many games he's probably not preparing for every match as much
I"M REALLY PUMPED UP.... upmagic usually does mech lately.... however, i'm sure jaedong has a plan for mech because he said something about mech on this map and how he was prepared for it

I'm thinking bunker rush into mech, and if that's the case I can't see how JD won't be utterly prepared for it. Up most likely isn't going to beat him in the late game, at any rate.
I predict JD will have something prepared akin to his most recent game vs Flash.
Lecaf is my favorite team, like the bulls in 96 but estro is the only team I hate to see lose =(.
From artosis and daniel's commentaries on them in proleague to there playstyles and personalities, I realy love these guys. Seeing upmagic laughing made me sad I don't want jaedong to break his heart.
... JD is being REALLY aggressive this game, with not much damage to show for it. Large amount of lings out attacking Up's natural, but the attack is deflected.
people whining about metal: if zergs would figure out that everything hinges on getting vultures in early mech wouldnt work. blame the dumbasses who leave their ramps open with 3 speedvults running around.
Sigh, can't believe Lecaf threw that one away. I don't see why fOrGG and Jaedong played like that, when their standard play was MORE than enough to secure the win.
On January 06 2009 21:23 snapcrackle wrote: great play by upmagic
Going mech is not great play.
vulture control was and the calm he had throughout the game unlike jaedong who seemed to just get more and more pissed ..... i thought he passed that phase. Before he was so aggressive that he'd try to force a win. Then in the last month he seemed to put more thought and patience in the game if things didnt work out. The play today was reminiscent of his former self where he'd try to force a victory while the opposing player seeing this would just hold the weather.
I'm shocked at how badly Jaedong played that game. Nothing he did made any sense to me... Any idea why he... 1. made a million lings vs vultures 2. Sent those 4 lings out after they looked like they were ready to block the ramp 3. didn't get a den 4. went 2 hatch
And other things... nothing made any sense. And now I can't blame mech for being lame, Jaedong just handled it terribly, terribly, terribly.

He was going 2hatch muta to try and catch and destroy the early goliaths with mutaling. Unfortunately, the vultures got through his ramp without taking much damage as the sunken was horribly missing them on the ramp (while they shot through the drones). So then he was actually behind, and went all-in with mutaling, but Up had gone for a safe build and it failed. I remember July losing to Up the exact same way quite a long time ago.
Jaedong should have taken the BO loss and backed off and beat him in a long game, but he must have felt he was already too far behind.
LOL, i begin speaking about queens cause fanboys expected from him more than lose. JD should win more, than using queens. He is not 90% players right now. He is screwing 1 game of 2 games.

I'm sorry, how did I complain? I said mech builds are lame and boring, which is simply my opinion. I enjoy watching mech TvZ just about as much as I enjoyed watching Lomo vs Really earlier, if that gives you any indication. I even said Jaedong didn't play well that game. Hell, before the ACE players were announced, I said I hoped they wouldn't send Up because he would likely do mech.

Yeah, I can understand the 2 hatch muta part... I don't get why he made so many lings, though. But even that wasn't that bad, but I think that when he took the 4 lings off his ramp and sent them to die in Upmagic's main, that was... I just don't understand. You're right. He should have kept those lings at home until the mutas popped, or placed another sunken. The thing is, the top players always try to play with builds that only get what's necessary as far as early defense. That's why we see Jaedong and Flash (still two of the top 5 players without question) losing to early harass builds so often. In this case, Jaedong likely thought he could hold the vultures on the ramp long enough to kill them, as 2 were injured before approaching.

This has been an awesome day for me, both eStro and WeMade winning (check out the liquibet odds, anyone who voted for this teams should get like 9-10 points instead of 1) ^_^
People in this thread support the claim that Jaedong fanboys can't think rationally (at least a big proportion of them). Yet again they cry that mech is gay etc.
Jaedong just played poorly this game and he lost due to his careless play. He has been overly aggressive and didn't block his ramp which cost him the game. That's all.

I wanted to say, that JD is not the dominant JD which was a year ago. He was a monster. He lost only a few games. Now he is good too, but his mind is trashed by using queens or other prodigies.

IMO it's the other way around. Everyone else got better. Up is a good example of this, I mean he's good to begin with but I think the Up today is way better than the Up back in EVER 2007.

how hard can it possibly be? the day after light went 1 fac cc + speedvults vs effort every one of our b team zergs took 10 minutes to figure out evolve/den/hatch walls on every pos on every map. they dont lose to vult runbys anymore. at all. no reason proleague players cant do that too. the only time its excusable is if t manages to trick them into not thinking mech, or the new 8 rax bunker into vult, which forces an out of place sunken/late hatch/ low econ.
but seriously, jaedong KNOWS he has 2 fac speedvult.. even knows theres vults out on the map and yet he sits there with 1 sunk and actually runs away the lings that were blocking his ramp. anyone calling mech gay for that game is an idiot.

wouldnt count on it, that was more than a month ago. theres a reason only jaedong can win at all right now. not the brightest crop of zergs in a while.
