Then Baxter built some ultralisks and basically his brain switched off. He didn't know what to do next, he never got a proper engagement, was lacking defilers (or lacking usage of defilers) and started losing units one-by-one to barely controlled terran mnm army. Just thinking about this game makes me mad. I miss Larva.

It seemed like Killer was in a pretty strong defensive and economic position, but JD found the perfect spot to engage with his mutas and lings. Such a cool play to watch! And his ZvT vs. Sea seemed very well calculated from the beginning, and played well to the strengths of a brand-new map for this season. Super excited to watch more JD games! Back in the day, Jaedong was known for winning ZvZs, even with a BO disadvantage. He basically defied the common knowledge of the rock/paper/scissor BOs in ZvZ, ramping up to a win percentage of close to 80% in the MU. It's really nice to be able to see a bit of that again. Although it seems like Jaedong is back to a form he hasn't been in for years. I'm really happy for him and hope that continues.

Killer of old seemed present here too lol, aka the Oz recipient of the "doom zoom". Don't think I've seen Ultralisks look that weak in a long time.

You can see JD doing the same build here vs eros_byul/kangtaewan.

Was there a meta switch that I missed? 3 hatch muta has been the most common build for the last 12 years or so, except for 2009 when 2 hatch was more prevalent. About the Sea vs Killer game, I don't see why so many people are complaining. Sea played very well in the 2nd part of the game, coming back from a very bad spot. Killer played well too, his engagements were mostly on point, very good swarm usage and sick constant vessel snipes. Even the counter-attack was a good choice, when he realised how much Sea had at his nat, he just turned back and crushed the main army, hard to judge the size of each army beforehand and a bad fight could have cost him the game. The huge mistake was not upgrading further than 1/2 which cost him the game in the end.

If you think your army isn't strong enough at that particular point, you have to stall. You don't stall by sending your whole army to counter attack if the terran is already at your nat. What do you expect him to do? Turn around? Of course not.

I'd be disappointed seeing that from a B rank nonkorean. Yeah, true. It's detrimental if the other player keeps up with his upgrades, which Sea did. I was also wondering why he wouldn't go for Plague in such a long game against SK Terran. Makes no sense to me.

In game 4 you obviously noticed the lair/den before spire. Larva has actually been popularizing this build order lately. Most noticeably in his bo5 against Best in the Danjjing Starleague he does it in (i believe) the first and last game of the series. It's definitely worth a watch and will give you good insight for future casts. You can find the games in the small vod thread.
