TheMarine though, is a crystal clear case. We have chosen to allow players who just dinged C-, if they struggle to keep it. If you can reach C though, you're beyond that and can't say you're D+/C- anymore. Anyway, the most successful player isn't necessarily the best, as we all have different playing styles. Some styles are more effective against lower level players, while some styles are more effective against higher level players, so the fact that TheMarine isn't the most successful player in the league, doesn't have to mean that he's not one of the best ladderers. When you ladder, you have to play against players that are C and above too, and I think his style would translate well against those opponents, compared with other protoss players in the league who have more abusive playing styles. | ||

On the subject of "trying": At least half the players in this league can reach C, or higher, if they "tried" for a given value of "trying." The current contracted iCCup population does distort laddering, but people can at least attain that skill level. Why haven't we? Because we almost all invariably have other priorities that keep us in the state of "casual" BW player. Arb has his League of Legends and his alcohol, Nagisama has his Counterstrike, other people have their studies or their jobs. No one in this league is truly "trying" for the maximum amount of effort possible. And that's fine. I'm sure we all love BW, but I doubt any of us can afford to play it for over 10 hours a day. ...Hell most people don't even play BW for 10 hours in a week. In case people suspect I've hit some high rank on a smurf and am trying to hide it: I heard someone on iCCup staff also suspected this and conducted IP checks. I'm not sure whether to be flattered or offended, but I heard of nothing further from that line of investigation, probably because no such event ever occurred. | ||

I'm not sure whether to be flattered or offended, but I heard of nothing further from that line of investigation, probably because no such event ever occurred. i don't think anyone is trying to say that people in DRTL are capable of becoming C skill if they played an extra 10 hours a day. what they are trying to say is that people in DRTL are capable of hitting "C" if they laddered the number of games required to hit C right now, and that they just play 10 games a season on ladder and claim "oh i'm only d+, i can't even reach c-" seriously look at how themarine plays. he's not nearly as good as babo or i, and he gets destroyed by birdie in funny games, and his elo ranking compared to the rest of DRTL reflects that | ||
