now, on the all-kill format, i think the biggest issue will be the time matches between teams will take. What i mean is the PL format, all matches are done in 30 mins to 40 mins and including ace match no more than 1 hour. Here instead, you will have to wait for previous set to finish to start the next one, so it will take a lot of time. Maybe a match that goes to the 7th set will take 2 hours or more and not everyone has the time, cause everyone will have to be there for 2 hrs since you dont know when you will play. So that's my biggest concern, and also that with previous format, reschedules were possible, i think here they would be really hard.

Oh shit...totally forgot about that and that is another HUGE issue. You suddenly go from a 20-30 min event to something that spans 2-4+ hours. This is reasonable to expect for guys playing in TGC or NW because they are very involved in the game and make a large commitment to play at that high of a level and to play in those leagues. D ranks players are often people who just play some casual BW here and there (not everyone by any means) and are already trying to work on match into an otherwise busy schedule.

Poll: Which format of DRTL3 would you prefer? Proleague (same as DRTL1 and 2) (42) Winners League (All-kill format) (20) 62 total votes Your vote: Which format of DRTL3 would you prefer? (Vote): Proleague (same as DRTL1 and 2) Vote in the poll, I'll give it some days, and if the majority prefers the standard PL format, I'll be up for changing it. However, I do not think that I'll be reinstituting 6 games + ace match, since last season pretty much proved that it's nearly impossible to fill that quota out.

That just ends up being a little too much commitment for this league and isn't feasible without massive teams, and even then you can still run into expected people not showing. Not to mention if you had huge teams that's lots of people rarely playing.

I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't really appreciate having to wait for each game to finish, and it would be a pain for the team leaders. If Nikon don't want to deal with the lineups I understand, but we could always skip the premade lineups and just make them during game time. Or we just need more active team leaders who sends the lineups in time. Tbh I don't understand why sending the lineups in time was such a problem last season. That's 3-5 players per team. In this tournament I don't think we really need a proper ace-match, maybe in the playoffs.

One score and four years ago Blizzard brought forth on this planet a new game, conceived in skill, and dedicated to the proposition that all men can become gosu. Now we are engaged in the 3rd Great DRTL, testing whether that game, or any game, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that Brood War. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their careers that that game might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this sport. The brave men, playing or retired, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our D-rank powers to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the fans, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored pro-gamers we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these players shall not have played in vain—that this game, under Boxer, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that the Starcraft of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

I think we should stick to the PL format indeed. However we fall back to the WOs problems. But what if we use BO5 instead of BO7? I think that would reduce a lot the WOs. In DRTL S2 our team had about 12 players registered, however after the second week only about 4 of us consistently showed up. BO5 with teams composed of 7 to 10 players.

1) Most of them are casuals and just want a bit motivation to play (and train) some BW. You will kill the motivation by focusing the match on the best player of each team, so that the other players don't see the chance or necessity to play, if they know they are gettig rolled over by D+/C- players. 2) As you already mentioned, last season was a problem with all the W.O.s and the rescheduling. WL will only make that worse as I can't imagine them to show up for 2+hours to wait for their possibly only match. Maybe PL format with Bo5 is solution with smaller teams. You could also check from the past seasons which player are willing to participate consistently and won't quit after two rounds. This is the pov from a neutral spectator because I cannot participate although I want to due to lack of time. As for the rest, I hope the league will succeed and everything goes smoothly. GLHF!
