This is awesome for BW foreign scene, sorry if this is a stupid question but with the $50 signup for each team, that makes me curious, what is the total prize pool? I don't see it listed anywhere, or in the video.. just curious, thanks!
EDIT : Does the total prize pool depend on the amount of teams signing up? That would make sense I guess. Gl hf ! :D

This is kind of just an announcement thread. The official R&S will feature the prize pool along with all the teams signed up

This sounds pretty cool, didn't realize there would be so many teams willing to put up $50. Recently returned to bw. I'm guessing these league matches are played by ~B+ rank and higher type skilled players? If any team needs a protoss feel free to PM me, I'm a B high protoss who is currently kinda terrible due to inactivity (but improving) and would love to get back in an active decent team.

They might but looks so far like they don't have their team, which is going to be a lot of potential for free lance players.

Please do not make GC3 and icc cl same time, it will be impossible to play both, and you cant force ppl to choose between 2 leagues, cause w/ making us to choose - you are killing BW.
To answer everyone's questions concerning the time, I had actually not taken iCC-CL into consideration whatsoever when I thought of the time. It just seemed like the best time for the league as far as universally available times. I'm going to discuss some things with iCCup CL admins, but I do believe that GC will be moved to another time.
I'd like to remind all team leaders that no payments will be accepted after July 20th 2012. Please make sure that your teams are all signed up by said date.

New Clan War time: Sunday, 17CET
So am I to assume the date is sunday always now?
Unless otherwise needed for a very good reason, yes.
If only it didn't conflict with another tournament, 23:00 pm local on a sunday is difficult to do for alot of players, on saturday would have been great.

As I previously said, GC isn't looking to prevent players from partaking in any other leagues, if necessary, alternate play times may be arranged in the main schedule. This was done for TGC and may be done again.

I understand both sides of this, most people associate Chinese players with lag, this can be the case, but not necessarily. Obviously, if a player lags with every other player in the league, he won't be allowed to play... This doesn't only apply to Chinese players though.

I remember how bad it was in Nation Wars and wouldn't like it to happen again...Every match was about wasting time finding who wouldn't lag with who and even in games that were played, it really was pretty bad even on extra high lat.

Other teams also offered me a spot on their team but they are either too inactive or there were too few players. With that said, I appreciate everyone's interest in me very much. I wish all players/managers/commentators good luck in the upcoming season. We all do what we do because we love the game and this league is a great reflection of that. All teams, please note: If you are prompted to give the paypal service charge to the receiver or to handle it yourself, you must take the service charge. The ammount must be payed in full, that is, $50.
OP needs to be updated, it still says that the games are played on subsequent saturdays instead of sundays. May cause some confusion for those who dont read the thread..
Upon signup, teams may request other play times than the default one that is offered. The available playtimes are the following:
Saturday
17, 18, 19 CET
Sunday
17, 18, 19 CET
If you send me a PM with a time and reason for the time, it is likely that it may be arranged. The schedule would then function similarly to a regular sporting schedule in terms of home/away games (except instead of location change, would be time).
Do note, only the default time slot is guaranteed to have a league official present. All manner rules and such would still apply to other clan wars.

Eywa your beginnings are good, but some of your rules are strange (~weird)
The rule about replays might be good only towards "noname" players. Since there really no players in our bw community who are going to abuse/smurf, (except fucking vtv and asshole joekim & scan obv) because we respect each other and ourselves.

It's a minimal ammount of games. For a player to part take in three best of X over the course of the entire season is a very minimal commitment.

I know what you're saying, however, I must consider what's best from the league's perspective. I have a trust list, everyone does, however, that doesn't mean these players go unchecked. This is for two reasons, first being, if you let your trust list get a free pass, you are singling out other non-trusted players/organizations as abusers which is not a good situation to be in unless there is concrete proof. I can't say reps), no security, but sas!! Well they get the full monty. The second reason is, people cheat because they think they can get away with it, how many times throughout history has the "trusted" person turned out to be the most hanis (include more sports than just BW)?
I think however, that you are expanding your trust list too far. This probably shouldn't push past your own team because there has been some attempts (could have been accidental or without knowing) from teams other than vTv in this league. So, I wouldn't single them out as the only ones who've done wrong, I'd just say they've done the worse (which is evident given their league status).

You still did not answer - i have a player, who plays only on CWs, he does not play ladder/friendly games, because simply he is super good player. So there is not way this player can play? Thats weird
Also we are paying for this league, and we have to spent million hours to collect replays from players T_T

PM me with player's name and circumstance, I'll take a look.
Also, I'm going to reinstate Gambit Team even if the original crew are gone, it was originally a team for gosus to play in when they did not have a team for themselves and so it will be that again this season.
I agree with Plumbum. I dont play anywhere close to 5 bo3s a week and im not nearly as inactive as many top bw players, who just show up and play. If there are doubts about smurfing and akas, let them be dealt with individually...seems like a waste of time and effort to me.

You're not asked to play 5 Bo3s in a week, you're asked to play 1. Sorry if this wasn't clear.

I was not aware that Defeat is aka vTv, this was not indicated to me and given that, I was under the assumption that defeat is just another sponsored team which is coming up. You are indeed correct, vTv is banned from the league and if these two teams are related then Defeat would also be prohibitted from joinning the league. There is no need to take any action yet because Defeat hasn't signed up yet, nor have they provided a list of akas for their players (which were majorly unknown to me). I'll let you know though that the situation is entirely under control.
So to answer the specifics of your question:
I gave Defeat the proceedures which they must follow in order to be admitted.
Ok still 15 games then. I dont play 15 games every week and im sure a lot of other GC players wont be doing so either. Even if i did, i dont want to send you the replays of almost every fucking game i play during the duration of GC. not only is that ridiculous, but its unnecessarily time consuming for the players, leaders, and ofc you to try and organize them all. Due to the large number of inactive or semi inactive players, this is bound to fail imo.
Like plumbum said, every1 knows every1, and unless known abusers are let into the league there should be no need for extra security. Just deal with any issues on a case by case basis imo

.. I'm asking the team to send in 15 games, that's 15 for 15 players. As noted, you only have to send in 1 single Best of 3 a total of 3 times as a single player. Sorry once again if I didn't make it clear the first time. As an individual, you're not expected to produce many replays on your own. As a team, I don't see it unreasonable to have to present an average of 1 replay per player per week.
Edit: That's a Minimum of 2-3 games, not 15.
Edit2: For further inquiries, please contact me via PM as indicated in the OP. (Applies to all)

This is the iCC-CL format with the last match being an ace match, except it's Best Of 5 x Best of 3 with ace being 2v2. We're not looking at having two identical leagues. If there is another Nation Wars however, it will be the same format whih is that you listed.

This is the iCC-CL format with the last match being an ace match, except it's Best Of 5 x Best of 3 with ace being 2v2. We're not looking at having two identical leagues. If there is another Nation Wars however, it will be the same format whih is that you listed.

7/19 Alright I'm back with some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that due to a combination of lack of team leads who will be able to persistently see the gambit cup through, worrying about lag, and the time slot, the Chinese teams can't participate in this Gambit's Cup. (that is unless something happens in the next 24 hours and we do sort everything out miraculously.
The good news is that the reaction we got from the players and organizers apart from technical difficulties was positive, every still active player that we asked expressed interest in playing in a foreign tournament, and individually forking out the entry fees wasn't a problem either, so do expect them at foreign tournaments in the future.
On behalf of Chinese teams and players I thank you for your attention and interest and apologize for the inability to participate this time, do look forward to co-operating and interacting with us in the future though!

Huh... How do you draw the second assumption given that GC is in pretty much the best time for chinese players while not going out of the range foreigners can play in?
Also, the fact that they don't seem to be willing to potentially live through a few lag tests and what not when their money is at stake doesn't really make me too keen on saying they'd be able to play in a free to play event...
Trying to say this in the least offensive manner possible, forgive me if this is not taken well.

It's the time slot for available team leaders (for example, stevewch doesn't want to be the sole leader and can't make some of the evenings, FoR..Nainiu and GP).Heroes can't appear on some nights either, etc etc etc), we all can't make that time for one reason or another, it's nothing on your side that's problematic. The fact we don't have a consistent team leader is the most major issue out of this whole thing, this time we are basically scrambling to find the appropriate contacts before the deadline, I'm sorry that it didn't work out, it's not the fault of anyone at GC. Next time we will have the contacts available.
Testing and putting money up wasn't the problem by itself, we are not going to ask others to lag test with us / give money to us (like I said, we are already willing to do / pay the fee personally) when we know our team leaders can't be on.
Sorry if I came across as offensive, I don't know how that happened.

You didn't play in Nation Wars.

I didn't have to play or not, I have played on VS Server and Fish / Iccup vs Chinese, its exactly as bad as Latin America lag (unplayable)
Also, I am searching for a team... if anyone interested let me know, must be of the hungarian variety ran by a spanish guy who plays zerg and user ID starts with a z.

They're not playing regardless of if I want them to apparently.
Oh, how come?

iwL = SiR, don't ask why there was a name change, because I don't know.
Also, I agree.. PaiN would have a great shot at winning with Michael/Bibiane/Bizzy/Cute, however, it is doubtful that any of those would show to CWs except Michael.
After seeing a topic "GC3" first thing I asked Sneazel whether we are playing. He replied that he does not play sc. That is why I play for SJ, and therefore a big surprise.

With Gt we're kind of betting on return players, there is more motivation that simply Gambit's Cup for this now, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get a few. If it doesn't work out, then likely Gt will be removed.

we're gonna make full roster later since we can only have 15 roster, but we basically are going to use as many of their top players (who can be active) as we need.
edit: Can players do a vote on maps we will use, or what's the format for that, I'm sure lots of players would agree to change some of last seasons maps.

ah.. colosseum, brings back memories from many many years ago (when tasteless still did BW in SK)
Just remove all the old school maps, go with the times.
With times of no new korean maps from next season onwards the foreign mapping scene might be getting some more attention.
Colosseum is the only map that could be considered "old school". I think outsider is 09, and everything else is 2010 and on. Everyone will be able to find 1 or 2 maps on that list that they hate, but that's the beauty of a team league, you don't have to play those maps. And if you are so one-dimensional that you can only play fs/cb/aztec... well you are going to be punished for being so fucking one-dimensional that you can only play three maps.
But that's my opinion. I assume we will have the terribly predictable maps: aztec, jade, gladiator, ect...
