Bisu with his pvt wasn't even surprising to drop his game vs Bogus.
Outcomes surprised me so much, don't know which score was bigger upset, but it certainly was strange day for SC.

Apparently TvP is imbalanced when you lose to a scouted 5 fact timing.Yeah, send a protoss on sniper ridge against a terran despite heavy warning from Stork, what an awesome strategy Park. By.Sun scouted Turn's 5 fact and lost, too. 5fac all in with scv cut after a rax-cc opener is pretty much a hardcounter to 1gate triple nexus. Could bisu have handled it better? Sure he could (trying to stall on the last 2 ridges for example), but despite scouting it, cutting probes and just massing gates forgoing any tech he still got raped pretty easily. No idea why people are actually recommending this game as its just a perfect example of a well executed attack from a highly advantagous build order. This is a brilliant game with an excellently executed timing push. Bisu scouts with his probe in the wrong direction and eventually sees that the terran has fast expanded. Given his scouting information came so late Bisu had already gone gate first to defend early aggression and so was behind. He needed to catch up economically or do some good damage. He did this by going 3 nex and trying to snipe the bunker (which was saved by taking a marine out to take hits <- awesome play). Now the strat that bogus employed is meant to hard counter fast 3rd nex and was somewhat allin. The best way for a protoss to stop such a strat is to stay on 2 base but alas bisu was greedy and this did not happen. Some excellent micro was displayed by bogus during his push preserving his tanks and pushing carefully. The distance between the bases isn't that long either, so the damage caused by such a push is greater as the protoss cannot force seige/unseige to squeeze out units. There was a high probability that a strong push can happen given the spawning locations so perhaps bisus gamble on the third base may have been a bit much. Regardless, wp bogus wp stx gg NB: This is all from memory of watching it live. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy for my analysis. I guess we just have different views on what makes a good match then, personally I do enjoy watching all BW but when I am looking for recommended games I want games that are exciting, for example close games, games with lots of action or something unorthodox happening. Watching someone ride a big BO advantage to an easy victory is not what I want to watch if I dont have the time to watch all games and just look for whats recommended. This game is basicly the same as watching a ZvZ where someone goes defensive overgas against 9pool speed and just wins because of more mutas in the first engagement. As for the bunkersave, while kind of cute he should never ever have gotten in a spot where his bunker could almost die and he was actually never in danger of losing it. Its pretty simple, 1 scv repairing for each goon attacking the bunker will keep your bunker at constant health, if your a pro and lose your bunker against 3goons you have fucked up beyond words. Bogus did have 3 on repair so he would not have lost it anyway even tho it was close and he obviously got stressed by it. Maybe its just me but I dont find short, one sided games that are ridden on a big BO advantage to be something to recommend too others The analogy of a defensive overgas build vs 9pool speed is flawed because in that case the build orders are chosen blindly. At its core, Starcraft is a game of decisions and it's cool to watch players make right or wrong choices on the information they have. In Bisu vs. Bogus's case, Bisu knew exactly how lethal a 2-base push would be to his build, yet he decided to go ahead with the gamble anyhow, in spite of the fact that he could have done a marginally slower 3rd timing that came after his obs was finished scouting Bogus's base. In the end Bogus didn't even hide the fact that he had 5 factories--Bisu saw all of it and still continued playing his greedy build. That moment of "oh shit, Player X has chosen wrong, how will he climb out of the hole", to me, is what Starcraft really is all about. | ||
