Even with Sea at 3 o'clock the Dong manhandled him and had pretty much a 5 minute window where he could have kept Sea trapped with the Mutas he already had and just transitioned into ... well, anything. Not to mention Dong taking the exposed double gas which made it so Sea only had to take 3 steps out of his natural to take out 2 of JD's gas as opposed to any other base on the map where he would have had more time to react. . I don't think you play zerg enough to understand that the certain build Jaedong went, it was either allin mutas, or bust. Tech switching on such low drones will essentially give Terran back the upper hand. It was hardly a biggest blown game like you think it was.

Eye of the Storm looks like a well-balanced map for ZvT.

You're probably right that it wasn't as big of a blown game as I've made it out to be. But Jaedong kept churning out Mutas that weren't even always getting used - are you telling me that he couldn't have made a round of Drones with that at any point? I understand that he likely took the double gas because it's two gas for the price of one and he was depending on Mutas to defend anyway so it being exposed didn't matter as much. But instead of getting the double gas, which cost him another few Drones and essentially committed him completely to the all-in due to its location, why not make a round of Drones and transition? His Drone count goes from low to acceptable with just one round off the Hatcheries he had and I definitely think he could have traded building some Mutas for a Hydra Den/Lurker and a couple Lurkers. I guess I'm underestimating how hard it is to defend with Lurkers on such a wide open map though.

Jaedong had built up minerals because mutas are gas heavy by intake, not extra larva. Jaedong was in constant muta production and had minerals to spare. When you have minerals to spare the things you can do are: Make hatcheries, make refineries. In a build that's all in of a certain unit composition you don't just magically get the larva to make enough drones. Jaedong was already making some drones so he could saturate his gases, he was just stupid and did it at the center because...he wanted to.

I guess I'm underestimating how hard it is to defend with Lurkers on such a wide open map though. If Jaedong stops making mutas, which he's already researching +2 armor, he gives Sea 2-3 minutes of leeway to build up an army for a strong timing attack before lurks. Sometimes, all a pro zerg needs is 1 mistake or 1 little hole to slip in and he can waste the entire Terran marine army with 11 mutas. Jaedong kept pushing for that opening but eventually couldn't. Sea played perfectly that game. Watch the Jaedong game vs Iris on Chupung Ryeung. That's the exact build Jaedong is using. This is just semantics though. The map still favors zerg obviously. But Sea showed strong Terran defense still can win on that map.
