You gotta have the gas though. Making guardians against mass m&m/vessels/goliaths is a not the best way to spend it.

It is when you run Ultraling (terrible units against Mech, you just need a lot of stuff to beat mech). Lings and ultras get eaten alive by vultures, spider mines and fully upgraded tank lines. Ultraling is the worst possible combo pretty much besides Lurkers against mech.
Effort didn't play optimally but it kind of annoys me when people just quote day9's advice from over a year ago (mech play hasn't evolved at all since then, right?) and suggest that progamers have no clue what they are doing.
Hydra/Muta is a great way to battle Mech when you have a big econ advantage. Which effort never had. Per cost, fully upgraded Goliath/Tank will destroy Hydra/Muta.
Effort had to get tricky to stay in the game.
Mech play now seems to be a denial of a 3rd or 4th aggressively with marines and then transitioning into Mech off of this earlier base denial of the zerg. I'm not just mindlessly spouting idiocy. Fully upgrading ultras does nothing when the damage received is 85 and 125 respectively.
right, the part you underlined was sarcasm. Day9's advice of just massing lots of stuff (stuff meaning hydra/muta) isn't as applicable vs. this new style that you described.
How are you going to beat terran mech by just getting a lot of stuff when his economy is equal to you and his units are more cost efficient? I didn't say ultras are the answer, I don't know what is exactly. If anything defiler-ling-hydra-lurker with drops might be the best.
