Flash has advantage because he is turtling and can reinforce immediately. Action was really close to breaking the 3-oclock (imho). * Built queens, but didn't use them ?? * Ultras have been helpful to control the center.
Action controlled the center for much of the game.

Sigh, what IS a zerg to do. Even though Action had such sexy defiler play, his econ was so strained throwing infinite lings and defilers at flash's defense. 1) Max pop afaik. Think about it, he had a ton tied up in tanks that were doing virtually nothing for a huge chunk of that game. That's a lot of psi and Flash's infantry macro was consistent even if the units just got splattered right away by micro oversights and sick play by Action.
2) Action played extremely well. He could maybe have added some more harass play to turn the tide, but his multitask must have been insane anyways. I wouldn't consider it a game where Action could have done a specific something better to get the win. It was really close.

The one thing I didn't get is why Action didn't tech to Ultras. They may not be the most cost effective unit against mass tanks but having a few to soak up damage while the lings and lurkers get in position certainly seems like it might have helped. 1) Oh come on. That was a spectacular game. As a spectator you should feel privileged to have seen that regardless of the outcome.
2) Tanks do tons of damage to ultras. As folks have said, Flash anticipated ultralisks. Part of Action's success stemmed from the wonderful decision to favor heavy defiler play and try to counter tanks with lurker under swarm. It was a sick choice that almost won estro the series.

Flash couldn't afford to go straight up macro that game.. because he fell behind with his failed 5-rax all-in... so he had to do bunker down and hold the massive waves of Z. And with plagues +swarms as good as Action's, you have to plague EVERY single defiler that comes while not losing your 1 HP vessels.
|
I'm so used to forgg blowing it I'm already mentally preparing myself for an estro win..

See Flash? Just bio --> turtle-tank --> win, so stop going mech already.
|
I'm usually not a big fan of zerg, but Action's defiler play is some really fun stuff to watch.
|
Yea, Action played really well with a super solid game plan. Flash looked like he was in a little bit of control there and Action was playing with a superb late game management.

I'm curious as to exactly how many defilers and vessels were lost throughout the entirety of the game o_O

Not really sure why he did , but whatever :/ Weird game. Yeah I felt like he played very sloppy. But I guess he knew that if you secure 5 bases on Roadrunner you win for sure in TvZ. I was very surprised Flash let Action take a 6th and a 7th ... he definitely made it harder on himself than he needed to. Still, 4 bases each, flash with map control and army control. Then instead of pushing more expos, he just pulls back to his bases and masses up tanks. Sits at his bases while action takes the rest of the map, and turtles 30 minutes until action starves. I don't know if he was trying to prove a point or what, but that was odd.
Fighting 4 gas hive zerg in the center is pretty retarded. A single plague can fuck your entire army and then zerg can rampage your expansions resulting in a loss. Flash just optimized his chances of winning by defending until zerg is gas starved. It's his style and he sticks to it

I guess he quoted the wrong guy.

Action had some amazing defiler play but his guardians were ineffective. A doom drop in the main while pressuring the 3 o'clock probably would've won it.
|
i think if they go outside of flash for ace match they should go with stats, more solid than forgg IMO
|
I honestly think Flash got just a tiny bit overconfident when it was 5 base vs 5 base and didn't expect Action to be THAT good at using Defilers.
Especially not getting Dropships more quickly (and then throwing away the two when he did) - he definitely should have kept Action from getting his 6th.

haha, already captured as a .gif by starcraft fans:
As Flash left the booth after the win, he sighs and he's definitely saying "어우, 왜케 잘해?" or very roughly "God, how is he so good?"
Could also be "어우, 진짜 잘해" or "God, he's really good"

Yeah, it was an exciting game but the skill level wasn't so high.

Really vs Forgg should be easy win for Estro, but weird shit happens.

I see nothing wrong with assuming this is true. Forgive and forget ForGG's mistakes! Today is a new day!
