Latest update: TvZ Valks vs 2 Hatch Muta. (Fixed link)
Hello people, some of you may have noticed the blog I made a week ago, where I posted a vod with written commentary, well since some people seem to have enjoyed it, I decided to make more. So far I have 6 vods, 2 of them with commentary and already uploaded, and the others will be updated as the week goes on.
These were all played at the C+ rank a week ago, so its probable that these guys are all B- material or close to it.
To view, make sure both the .avi and .srt have the same filename and are in the same folder and then just open the .avi with your player, VLC shouldnt give you any trouble. And dont forget to be listening to something so you dont doze off.
I'll include the one I have already posted:

I'm planning to have all my vods be below 20 minutes long, so they may be mostly one sided games, these are instructional vods, and I think anyone up to the blue ranks can grab a couple of good things from these. Sorry if you were looking for quality games.

Man its imposible reading the text (sometimes it isnt clear with the game backwards) and watching you play. If you could add audio to this it would be great.

I dunno if you've tried this but I've found a USB microphone/headset sometimes circumvents problems with bad sound cards.

It seems to be worse in the beginning, but the text scrolls pretty fast, I guess that's one downside of subtitles; you can't have as much information as you could with audio commentary.
Also, I think it would also be easier to read if you had more text (like 3-4 lines) showing up for a bit longer, instead of having the first part of the sentence show up, then the last part of that sentence. Or at least, following incomplete sentences with "... blablabla" would be better than starting the second part with a capital letter imo.
Finally, since I'm at a lazy man, I would love to watch these on YouTube. But really, these are very nice to watch, I can't wait to see more.

Hm, that muta build seems kind of weird but interesting.

Thanks for the input people, ill try to upload to youtube although i cant promise much, my connection took over 2 hours to upload the 70 mb file.
And yes, you will probably have to watch the vod twice if you want to grasp both my play and my advice.
And Harem, look for Effort's vods on gods garden.
By the way, probably less text would be an option, would you guys prefer more text at a time with bigger pauses between each sub; or for the current ammount text to stay for longer?

Honestly, no. The more info the better. It was annoying to rewind but better that then leave something important out IMO. In fact, I suspect you got more info in then you could talking  so it was kinda good in that way.
BTW guys, you can use VLC player to play the video at a slower speed. (Use the +/- on the number pad). I was actually able to find a rate that worked well for me.

No worries about lack of sounds. I really appreciated this video because i'm deaf.
One thing i'd like to add though, is that your sub are way too fast. Even if i'm a "pro" sub-er it's really hard to keep track of everything you've said because some of them were not even shown for 0,1 sec. So i had to pause the game a few time and now my timing got somewhat f***ed
Even though i didn't learn a lot of thing, it was really a good vod for every Z user. Keep them coming !

yea its bit too fast at some points but for me is fine because with space button I can pause and read then play so its easy to read
I really liked because these games were rape :D and its good because it can show more precise strat

The VODs are awesome cloud, but I a lot of the subtitles just flew by while I was concentrating on the game

but anyways I just watched the 3 hatch spire -> 5 hatch hydra vod, great freaking job, really was very informative and useful, even though I already had a decent understanding of the build.
now I watched your effort style ZvP vod, great one as well! Definitely gonna try that out soon

Hey, I don't want to make a new thread so I'll just ask this here if you don't mind. In tvz when I go mech, my biggest problem is knowing when zerg is going mutalisks,all in hydras or lurker. When u play standard tvz and do 1 rax fe into cc and get ur 2nd rax into mnm, u have scan to see the zerg's tech but when meching u wouldn't have scan that early.. And also recent tvz vods i seen, many zergs go all-in hydras and so u need ur rax pumping marines to put inside bunkers for that so u can't really scout his tech by floating a rax over either. If he makes one sunken at his nat then u can't scout with an scv either. The only thing I can think of is making sure that first scv u send early game stays alive as long as u can. But if the z makes a sunk at his nat u will only be able to see his main and he can just put a den or spire at his nat.
So uh I hope all that made sense. Basically I'm asking how u scout the zergs tech when giong mech? Like in pvz u do it with ur first corsair but when u go mech in tvz then how?

I'm interested in the muta lurker build, but after the vod, I didn't really catch the whole build order. It would be great if you could write out the build order so its easy to see, and put it on liquipedia.

You cant scout well without scan, thats why i suggested to make marines and acad right after
the fac. The scan will be ready for 2 hatch lair hydras; for 2 hatch lings or hydras you depend on your scouting scv and the one you send immediately after (which spots his attacking units) hydras can be stopped with the help of gols. Lings will come earlier so you need a huge wall of scvs protecting the way that leads to your main as well as the bunker which is paramount on any mech build regardless if you have a wall or not. Mutas (or lurkers) will always be scouted by a scan or a lucky vult. Rushes will almost always force gols if you open double cc. If you open with a fac before expo you can get mines before hydras but you may still need gols to defend the expo so dont be too annoyed to change your early game a bit.

good stuff, but like everyone else, i'd be much cooler if you speak instead. trying to keep the eyes on both game and subtitle is pretty impossible...
