Generally fast expansion loses to mass expansion + guardian rushes (into ultralisk), especially if zerg takes islands.

not really, fast expansion is very good, for 1 it's unbeatable on the 12 position if played right. on 3 it's very hard to beat for zerg too.
on 9 and 6 it's good, but more easy to drop the fuck out of terran.
guard rushes intro ultralisks only work against newbies who don't have good m&m control and don't scan a lot.

M&Ms only beat guardians if they are in perfect formation in the middle of the map. When tank pushing or defending your natural you can't beat guardians with M&Ms. Since you expanded, vessel will probably too slow. Your only hope is 2 port wraith, which is terrible against anything zerg goes except for guardians. Its not like Terran would actually lose the game to guardians destroying his base, it just delays Terran long enough for zerg to be able to start pumping 4 base ultralisk.

You can't defend an expansion, defend main, attack zerg, and protect yourself against guardians before zerg's 2-3 extra expansions start kicking in to produce mass ultra.

Fast expanding only works against zergs who don't realize they have the initiative and mass expand as soon as they see the extra Terran CC.

I don't know what any of you are thinking. Any fast expansion build will get ate up by any ling + tech build. Whether it's ling/lurker drop or muta/ling in the front. Gl with it =/ However fast expand can work out for you if he doesn't see it in time and is going standard 2 hatch tech and gets his 3 hatch late. Of couse this means he will have few lings with his tech.

GL fast expanding against any 3 hatch build =[ even in ogn on vortex people were getting there asses handed to them when they fast expanded. I swear 5 terrans in a row died to muta/ling in front because they had only M&M from 2-3 rax as apposed to having SV before they expand.

i'd debate that, but i've seen fast exp work so many times that i dont think i'll bother, would be like debating that fast dt works in pvt, obviously it works, but it does lose sometimes.Progamers wouldn't use fast expand in tvz if it was a bad strategy.

They rarely use fast expand. It happens in like one of ten TvsZ games.

hm I know one korean (who is really good!) who thinks fast expand tvz is easily the best strat, but he uses different builds most of the time cause fast exp is too boring.

he's the only korean i've talked strategy with anyway.

Well Fast expo TvP is way better anyway
And I doubt guardian rushing a fast expanding Terran is the best thing to do. Even when guards are cliffed it only takes a minimal amount of SV to rape them, and 2 ports off the fast expo=bye bye guards. Ultras on the other hand would be a MUCH better option

hrm don't get me wrong I think that fast expand is a strat that can be used just like fast expand against toss as zerg or wraith against terran or infantry against toss or 1 base zerg against terran or metal against zerg.

Of course some strats are more of a gamble then others, but if fast expand was so incredible it would be the main strat would it not? but it's not, 2 rax into SV/tank tech is the main strat. Again I dont' think it's a bad strat, I think my previous post might have given that impression. I jsut think that people here think it's so effective when it's not as good as they think. "lol I do this all the time lol" or whatever. Fast expanding will more often lose against a 3 hatch player who can make a lot of lings with tech. It's done all the time I don't really debate it because I know it.

I do also know that going 2 hatch fast lair can be prone against a fast expand build since you will not have the correct larva count that you can mass lings and drones. In any case, fast expand is a good build, but it is a gamble build.

Fast expo is a decent strat, but it wouldnt really be used for everygame like the usual build most people use. Fast expo strat pulled off can give u a GOOD army, but leaves u very vulnerable at the start esp to lurkers

There are so many Z that go staight to 2 hatch lurk drop.
GL for a fast exp terran that get cliffed drop by lurks...

And even if terran manages to get rid of it, zerg has already got the map. Ultras coming...

LT: Z@6 + T@12(dual cc) = 18 18 18
I think it's best when being performed in those positions, i'm always having a hard time vs it then.
It has a strong technique, but it lacks oo.

ah, and like ret said, on 3 it's really good too.

It's funny how ret always says a dual cc on 12 is unbeatable while when playing zvt himself vs a terran with dual cc on 12, he's raping the shit out of him as hard as he does in any other game ^.^
It has a strong technique, but it lacks oo.
