Haha, I found it.

Kwanro versus Sea, Kwanro also rushed to Ultras after strong muta harass. I dunno if it's the exact build you're looking for, but it's relevent.

back, a long long time ago when gamei was newish and I was only like a 1300 player (which was still good back then)

I would go fast expand on LT zvt, rush a lair, get 2gas, get queens nest and a bunch of sunkens, get queens with broodling

i'd broodling tanks if they made them. and i'd get speedlings if i thought drops were coming


meanwhile i'd tech hive, get cracklings and ultras and run them over with my 2gas.

by then the terran would generally have their expo up and be in good shape but early ultra tech rules hard






anyways I don't know how viable that would be these days but I figured i'd throw that out there.

Definitely not nowadays. Even average players usually FE, so going two base ultras is really pushing. Some bats with mnm focus firing will rip it apart.

Also, what will you do vs two base mech and two port wraith?

Especially with wraiths, the overlords will be gone, queens dead and tech revealed...

well i scout early game and if i saw fast factory i put up spire and generally end up losing a couple OLS if they wraith but am rarely in a position I can't come back from.

1 base mech cannot beat 2base muta. it has trouble even expanding vs it.

also with only 2base ultras, how would you manage upgrades

as a terran player, Im not at all afraid of unupgraded ultras

well, u go 2bases u only need 3hats since ur going to ultras. u have alot more minerals as it is if you skip mutalisks. and u get quite a bit of gas saved up.

it's pretty easy to get both upgrades started early.


the build was pretty much just a surviving game until my ultralisk den came up and then i pretty much always ran the opponent over.




a couple of times i lost to good marine drops(incredibly common back then, ty boxer) and a couple of times i lost to quick bunker rushes or cheese, but most of my games were wins.

I said two base mech, and if the terran scouts well, it can even add vults for mines + it has spare minerals anyway.

This build was viable in days of Boxer and Nal_rA, where innovations were better than executions (due to low multitasking skills).

After FlaSh's recent reign of terror, you'd be surprised how often a Zerg has to deal with 2base mech nowadays.

its good if they don't know what you're planning but then there is scanner.. very vulnerable against drops, wraiths, any mech build and vessels.. yes its effective to go mutas first and then take third then thats when you go ultras and like they said do good with the harass or they'll just go out and kill you.

most terrans will scan your base if they see you haven't expoed for a long time, no mutas or lurks... Then they'd plant spidermines all outside ur base ;x.

Not to discourage you OP, but this is an extremely difficult build to pull off. You need to have great muta/ling control and macro to make this viable.

I play terran and at my level (~C), I find that this build backfires much often than it works.

As other posters have stated, however, it's important to get that evo chamber up early and EXTREMELY important to keep your mutas alive into the midgame. Also, make sure you don't forget a decent supply of scourge so that the terran isn't able to just irradiate at will. If you don't provide a deterrent to constant vessel rapings of your precious Ultras, you can find yourself in trouble.
