I'm trying to figure out how a terran player can counter the recent strategy I've started doing that I found here. Every time I do this strategy against terran the terran ends up leaving(Idra style ^^) and I've played this strategy 50 times against different terran players, some times even in rematches and I never ever lost. Is there any known counter strategy to this? I never saw any strategy involving shield batteries in liquipedia so I couldn't find any counter to it.
I thought at first glance that any terran could easily counter this simply by building marines and tanks/vultures while repairing his/her wall but even the best terrans I could find(on b.net since I only have a Mac) couldn't beat this strategy.
Here is one rep of me using this strategy(randomly selected it out of the 10 I have saved).
![[image loading]](http://repdepot.net/img/thumbs/35034.jpg)
edit: sorry if I didn't follow the guidelines correctly(2nd strategy thread) but I tried to follow them to the best of my ability. I didn't think it would be considered a help thread since I'm the one winning and am trying to figure out how a terran player could counter this.
edit2: and as is shown in the link to creepcolony.com , this strategy is for both with and without proxy(with proxy I found to be a lot better since I end up with a terran that may not find me since he doesn't see any buildings, like in the rep shown).
edit3: and sorry about being an asshole in game lol. I didn't realize saying "GG?" was mean lol. I just meant to say "ur dead now and there is no way you can really win" really fast.
edit4: I tried uploading more reps of me on different profiles(not the Tribal Trouble one) to repdepot but they ended up being messed up when they got uploaded so I can't get more reps up but after I finish hw I'll try massing some more games using this strat.

okay the toss a a total douche. hope that wasn't you or i will find you and slap you for offensive gg'ing. (oh it was you, dont be an asshole)
he had his factory timings okay, but the terran should know that pulling his scv's earlier isn't a crime. if he pulled it earlier, his wall would have stayed up for a longer time.
and when you see that many zeaels at your front door, put down a second factory and DONT GO FOR A FUCKIN TANK!!! pump the vults, with micro they rape zeals. then lay down a few mines. once the toss pressure is no longer viable, speed the vults, rape some probes and gg for the toss. another reason why 2 gating a terrran isn't the best idea.
the terran could have put down another bunker anyway. just to stall the vultures.

I haven't watched the replay but I can't see how this would beat any wallin. Do you think posting a BNet replay is the best evidence? Shouldn't you at least be playing on ICCup? Can you post more of your 50 wins?
|
You claim a strategy is invincible by beating random b-net scrubs? Any D Terran with a wall can fend this off.

The anti-hack doesn't kick mac users, i can play iccup on my mac. You just have to play without the anti-hack. Although, this means playing anything above D+ will be hard since you'll probably be kicked. But then again, you won't win above there with this strategy.
|
Any competent terran could find your proxy after seeing nothing in your base and pull scvs to repair wall even before you attacked because it was obvious cheese.
And protoss was such an asshole!

a zealot-proof wall can stop this easily.
even if you send a probe to kill the scv that is building the rax, he could always send another scv to kill your probe before you kill the scv.
|
|
The "C ranks" on bnet are honestly probably people who have barely reached C- that want to feel better about themselves, hence the reason why they're on b.net. All terran has to do is finish his wall and that 1st zealot will die so easily.
You should try this on iCCup, or at least on asia server. Basically this is a 2 gate proxy with the exception that your 1st zealot will be stronger because of the pylon + shield battery, delayed because it's not proxied, but anything after that will be extremely weak since you just have one gateway.

It should be assumed that a build is never invincible, otherwise it would be used all the time. Protoss cheeses vs terran at low level are ALWAYS hard to deal wtih, but they are handled much better by better terrans. You need to play better players and play on iccup.

I play on a netbook that you could probably acquire [a similar model to] for $200 anyways.

Damn, you don't even need a wall-in haha. 2 SCVS, floating rax and 1 marine, beats it all the time and will get your tanks in time and they can't even attack SCV. As Protoss I have tried to do this in a UMS game and its not like a DT attacking a turret under the EBAY with Hold Position. SCV's under a floating rax with a marine attacking the zealots makes it impossible. AI are freaking stupid.

Stop trying to win people's approval. (also known as sucking up) That's not the case at all. I'm not good to even act like I know what the hell I'm talking regarding your gameplay, but what I can say is don't a jackass. I'm not talking about the gg at the end, I mean the start btw.

The "u'll sooooooo lose I bet" I did that just to try to mess up his macroing when it wouldn't mess up mine since just reading a line of text can mess up your macro/APM spam. This made it so that I could make my build better and its chances of success better. It was a game where I messed up and forgot to ask a bunch of random questions right before I attacked like "where u from?" and " how long u been playin?" and other stuff like that.
edit: and as to the rest of your post(everything beforehand) is I really don't understand how I'm "sucking up" at all.

it prob wouldn't beat a D+ Terran that knows how to wall... B.net is like F compared to iccup

Why would you do that? Are you desperate to win? I mean maybe if it was a tournament or something but that would still be pretty bad manner. Thats like playing golf with someone and shouting everytime they get ready to transition to their downswing. On top of that if doesn't help you practice your strategy as well, because the terran isn't giving you the best micro possible, and as a result you might be missing important flaws or weak points in your build that could be improved. Seems stupid for any game that isn't an important match; as well as pretty BM. Lol, I guess there is a reason why I don't talk to people after like the minute mark.

Lol, this thread is ridiculous.
"Look at this replay of me winning on b.net! Is my strategy INVINCIBLE or am I just AWESOME?"
And then it's coupled with the BM in game... Something tells me you wouldn't be so cocky after playing a day on ICCUP...

This.
Also pls posta replay where the terran who sees a ton of zealots(=2gate) pulls more than 3 scv-s to repair. I thought u would put the shield battery on the high ground. cant see this working if he is actually multitasking better.
|
Don't offensive gg. you don't want to be humiliated every time you lose either. (Well not with this clearly invincible strategy, but when you try something else.)
|
well. this straegy works on b.net becouse the skill level of terrans out there is very very low. There are bad players on iccup also but this strategy will not work vs any decent player.

(Don't forget to bring probertos ~~) Ya I tried it against zerg my self and I saw that the ovey was coming to my base as I was getting ready to position the proxy and I positioned it just outside his choke so that when he saw my base while he rushed lings in to it he wouldn't see the proxy and the proxy wouldn't see the lings.(game changing at times) It was a hilarious game and it ended with him saying "IDK what strategy you did, but it was good." It was a great game that i can upload if you want(no trash talk in this and it was after I read all the replies here) me to that ended in an epic and hilarious base race.
edit: did I mention he never saw the proxy the whole game?

"Could this be invincible? It beat the best players I could find on battle.net on a decade-old map. Is it the build or me that is totally kickass?"

"Yo guys I got this new technique where I enter a preschool and knee a bunch of kids in the face. Nobody there has managed to stop me yet."
Post-Replay Watch Edit: What the hell man? This is terrible. For one, you BM'd like mad. From the "lol I'll sooo bet you you'll lose" or w/e at the start to the "gg?" at the end. Not to mention how bad the terran was. When the big zeal attack came, he had 1 out of like 6 marines firing and didn't pull scvs to repair for like 20 seconds. Then when you broke through the wall, the guy makes a bloody tank. There's no way in hell you honestly looked at this replay and thought your build was invincible.

Thanks for kind of apologizing, it's good that you at least are owning up to it. That said, don't use your age as an excuse to act dumb... as the above poster said, stuff like this is the reason why so many people just judge younger people to all be idiots.

The better question is: How do you have 900+ posts?
|
if they wall you pretty much lose unless you pylon the wall too
Pretty much this. I don't see how a Terran could lose to pure zealots at the wall. Sure, the shield battery lets the zealots take more shots from the marines/vults; but what does it matter when terran can just keep repairing inside his wall, safe from any actual threat. You could attack all day, and never break in. Nad because of the nature of the wall you can't even get that many zealots attacking any one building at a time, so there isn't even an option to just overpower his reparing SCV's.

you just need to look for it.
