I think he did OK. Not the best commentating, mind you, but still far better than a lot of other casters I've heard. Cut him some slack, I am pretty sure Tasteless and SDM were also very nervous when they casted for the first time.

The point is that the Semifinals shouldn't have been casted by someone who had never done it before.

There was some Jason guy or something that previously filled in for Tasteless that did fine. Also, Susie still works for GOM I believe, and used to be a caster.

They should've called people with experience the minute that they decided to have Tasteless cast e-stars with Artosis. That they didn't bother to find a replacement until 10 minutes before, and just grabbed a random white guy, is pretty mind bogglingly unprofessional.

wheat knew pretty much nothing about starcraft (he picked it up as they continued), but he did an absolutely amazing job considering what he had to offer. If I can't have tasteless/artosis casting an event, wheat/tasteless is probably one of my favorite alternatives

what's the e-mail for feedback for gomtv.net?

i'm gonna spam that to get casting trio of Artosis + Tasteless + SDM for next season, well if there's a next season before SC2 comes :p

i'm hooked on listening to them both, artosis and tasteless after the e-stars event.

btw... what's ur name again?

It is not surprising, djWheat is pretty much the best e-sport caster we have overall. Pity Starcraft isn't one of his main games.

The issue I have with Tasteless is that he is pretty much a play-by-play commentator, but his knowledge is better suited for a color commentator. Reason for that is because he learned to cast solo so he had to be a little bit of everything, but it leave room to improve now when he cast with someone else.

He's literally the token white guy that goes to gom tv games and sometimes brings tasteless water..and recently he brought SDM water too.

So apparently, all you have to do to become a gomtv commentator is bring tasteless and sdm water...stock up now kids!

Jason Lee, he works for Arirang.
They had a week to get a potential replacement, I would have been extremely happy if he came in to sub for Tasteless, but alas, they got the chump from the crowd.

Assuming Jason Lee was busy or whatever....there's lots of ex-pros who speak fluent english like toad who would have legitimized the league even further. If he really was from the crowd that is a HUGE blunder lol....i can't imagine that is the case.

They probably wanted a white guy and white people are rarities in Korea.

I think we're basically at a consensus that Jesse didn't do anything wrong, he did just as well as most of us would, and we'd all have been happy to help GOM if they wanted it.

GOM is at fault, he wasn't good, and they can't have expected him to be, we really need a native English speaker who knows what he's talking about for everything to be enjoyable in my opinion.

Nothing was ruined for me, but I really expect an organization that expects to be taken seriously to have a backup plan for something they obviously knew about at least a little beforehand.

At least we will get good casting at Blizzcon, as I just read on wheats homepage.
8/21 ~ 8/22 – BlizzCon Stream w/ djWHEAT, Tasteless, & Artosis. As expected, but I'm very happy they got the three guys again

edit: If everyone knew this already, just ignore this post.

He did very good considering the circumstances. In the review of Effort vs JD he was trying too hard to fill in the gaps of what he didn't know. He should have said something like. Ok SDM I haven't seen this game fill us in on whats going on here. React to SDM and ask questions. For some it is hard to take the back seat and that is what he had to do.
He had a hard job with a cocaster he never met before. SDM had the same problem but has a lot of experience to pull him through.
He knew he was making mistakes but he didn't let that get to him too much. Otherwise he would just have fumbled and folded.

He was such a failure. After listening to him say that he didn't know who EffOrt was, I just immediately switched to the Korean GOM stream. I hope he never comes back.

I did hear that SDM pwnt him during the cast multiple times though. Huge props to him!
It is impossible to be a citizen if you don't make an effort to understand the most basic activities of your government. It is very difficult to thrive in an increasingly competitive world if you're a nation of doods.

I thought it was one of the funnyer Gom-days, despite the clear rapes.

The commentary was not the best, but it was *fresh*.
