When you go Full Screen all the colors mess up and there is noway to fix it with VH Screen Capture (I have been trying for 2days) I definitely Recommend Camtasia Version 4 or 5 over VH Screen Capture Driver its easier to use and way more compatible and can do the exact same as VH SCD if not more.
I didn't even test fullscreen mode I believe. I set it up to record windowed in order to assure being able to do other stuff while broadcasting, but the color on rets stream were messed up too in the menus.
I don't see how something can be much easier to use. You select it in the media encoder and then configure vh screen cap with its config (which gives you a very basic dialog). It doesn't really have much functionality, but it does what it does and its free .

The quality is amazing. With decent internet (DSL 6000) you can broadcast in 640*480, you can broadcast more than just the standard ingame starcraft, you can also set an option for automatically saving your stream as a viewable vod, which becomes available on the channel once you finished casting (with an encoding phase inbetween I think). In case you are wondering, add: /autoVod=true at the end of the connection string.

I've also gotten mogulus to run with webcammax after like 5 minutes of playing with it. It doesn't lag too much and I have a garbage computer. It lags so I don't want to play, but anyone with a computer less than 2.5 years old should be able to handle it.

Great job on the guide RaGe!
For the viewer this is multitudes better than xfire simply because it is Flash video so nothing but a browser is needed to watch.

I like this setup more than XFire cause you can control the quality, and therefor the bandwith usage. You can get perfect quality if you have a good connection (xfire qual kinda sucks), and you can get low quality but no lag if you have a bad connection (xfire would lag some people). Also, like h3r1n6 said, mogulus has a LOT of handy options in their studio, like online vod recording. This way you wont have to upload a recording anymore, recording yourself isn't necessary so less cpu lag, and people can just stream your fpvods of your channel directly.
It's just a lot more flexible as a setup. Of course thats compensated by how long it takes to get it to work.

Main reason why mogulus > xfire is because xfire doesn't work in starcraft for people that have a GFX card that supports DX10 like me. If I have xfire in starcraft enabled I get weird black bars all over my screen and so does everybody else with a GFX card taht supports DX10.
and ofc everything rage said.

I'm not a retard I have been fucking around with this stuff for a long time, maybe you should try fullscreen first before making any comments?
The difference is that with camtasia you can stop the record program and start it again and this fixes the colors. This however is not possible for VH Screen Cap. There is just no possible way to fix the colors with VH Screen Cap. Also Camtasia also does what it does and its free + it has shitload of more options + the possibility to stop and start it again which fixes the colors.

No reason to get butthurt. All I was saying is that I did not encounter those problems, because I did not use it in fullscreen mode. I actualy didn't know about camtasia, all the info I have on it is in the op, which tells you to set up a lot of things and:
- Camtasia Studio. This is not a freeware program.

Problem: Flash Media Encoder 3 OR 2.5 wont open
Solution: Still working on that....
Update 04/10: It's not that the program wont open, it's that the program wont stay open after initial start up (starts to open and then immediately closes, not crash). And I think the memory, or lack there of, isn't an issue because it seems to only use 13MB of RAM (at least while not streaming).

One thing I ran into, incase anybody else gets this. Sometimes when I pressed "Start" on "Adobe Flah Media Live Encoder 3", the "Duration" Timer didn't start to count, and after a couple of seconds the log said something like this: Fri Apr 10 2009 16:29:08 : Session Started Fri Apr 10 2009 16:29:08 : Audio Encoding Started Fri Apr 10 2009 16:29:39 : Unexpected error encountered in encoding process. Fri Apr 10 2009 16:29:39 : Audio Encoding Stopped Fri Apr 10 2009 16:29:39 : Session Stopped
(this repeats)
The reason it was happening for me was that I use 2 monitors via nvidias "dualview", and whenever the window of Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 was on the secondary screen, this happened. So the fix is just to move that window onto your primary screen, as stupid as it sounds. Took me a while to find it, hope I can save somebody else the trouble.

during the installation stages theres a page called Live Output Support, it says: "The option below allows Camtasia Studio 5 to be used as a video capture source by streaming media encoders, video conferencing and webcam applications."
should i check mark this box?
btw this thread should get stickied

So I managed to follow everything fine, but my screen keeps minimising when I press the "D" key. I think it's the screendraw feature on camtasia 5, but I don't know how to disable it.
Nevermind I'm an idiot (fixed it)

where can we fill out the channel verification form?
|
It's in one of those pages on your mogulus acct. try under broadcast or live channel, should be pretty big and noticeable.
|
just wanted to say thanks for making live streaming highly popular.
Your work here is the reason we have a shit load of live fpvod's to watch.

The quality and such is good, but it seems to be cutting about two inches from the corners of the screen. Screenshot seen here: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q214/Skey357/Skeytwo.jpgAny advice? Your input resolution seems too low and the positioning off. Did the test with just recording video (without live output) in camtasia give clear results?

btw this thread should get stickied As I said, I'm not familiar with Camtasia Studio 5, but I'm pretty sure this checkbox installs the Video Capture driver that acts as a virtual webcam, and is therefore necessary to be able to stream.
