Razer Deathadder mouse. Since it was a team-up with Microsoft, the shape is almost the same as the Intellimouse Explorer 1 I used for 7 years or so (and actually still use for everything but gaming. They are both sitting on the gigantic razer mousepad I got for free with the Deathadder as part of the TSL promotion)

Cherry Cymotion Master Linux keyboard cause I like penguins and it matches my case. Sucks for BW though: with the extra column of keys control and escape are no longer on the corners. Thinking of a Steelseries 7g for the more old school layout plus super rare n-key rollover (for Frets on Fire, or 4 people using it at once for Mario Kart lol)

Idk why people bitch about laptop keyboards. Mine works perfectly for sc (though I will probably never be above D on iccup...).

My laptop is an eee. When I play BW on it I'd sure as heck prefer an external keyboard. Luckily it's just for emergencies (like when I have to leave the basement)

dt35 is just a generic keyboard, nothing special to it.
The only difference if any that I've noticed is that the keys are slightly closer together than western keyboards usually are, which would help pple with smaller hands (a category which asians would most likely fit into)

The keys aren't even that soft and I'm pretty sure you can find many keyboards that require less force than the DT35. One thing though to note is that its keystrokes are damn quiet.

Best way to get one is to ask a korean friend when he goes back home. They cost like $15 so give him like $20-25 for his troubles.

Yea someone had one of the So Cal lans last year and I touched it a little and the keys feel perfect and are soundless. They did seem a bit closer together. I want one still.

on a side note, If I was a korean I would be scooping up tons of these and selling on ebay for the world.

unless you price gouge and make like 100% margin on it, it's definitely not worth it. (hence the extreme prices on the places that do sell them worldwide)

Bisu's fingers are blurred. That's cool, I guess.

I kinda want a DT35. But I feel like it'd be such a worthless purchase.

I didn't know the Deathadder was a team-up deal with Microsoft, I can't find that info on its page anywhere.

I know for sure my mouse was a team-up with Microsoft (in fact, its technically Microsoft's product with Razor tech in it), which, like you, is the reason I got it.

It feels very similar to their cheap optical mouse I had for so many years, except ergonomically designed, which I got used to in less than a day. Coincidentally, now when I use my brother's old non-ergonomic Microsoft optical, it feels so unnatural lol.

My keyboard is just a cheap $15 keyboard, but I like where all the keys are which is getting harder and harder to find in a cheap keyboard these days. I am really thinking about getting this Razor keyboard though when it comes out:

Its the same layout I'm using, and I love the USB port on it. Not to mention it will match my mouse! Its the same thing as their current Lycosa in terms of features, but instead of a rubber finish it has a high-gloss mirror finish which I like I better. The backlighting is pretty pimp, and the anti-ghosting / 1ms response / programmable keys stuff is all icing. Dunno if I'd actually be willing to spend that much though.. maybe I can convince someone to give it to me for xmas haha.

Just get a Dell keyboard, and most koreans use their korean keyboard because as someone previously stated, they have small hands.
But don't be stupid if it will help you get one rank higher. It simply won't.
Same goes for the mouse. I have DeathAdder, but prefer 10000 times the mx5xx. Why i'm still using deathadder ? Cauz it looks cool and i don't really play bw much anymore.
Getting the korean keyboard may help you but only for serious gamers that have small hands (ie can't ctrl 890 with only 1 hand or use the right ctrl which korean's keyboard mostly don't have it).
Hope it helps.

I didn't know the Deathadder was a team-up deal with Microsoft, I can't find that info on its page anywhere.

Team-up might not be the right term. They teamed up for the (Microsoft branded) Habu, as you know. Somewhere in that arrangement, Razer got the right to use the shape and did so on the Deathadder.

The DeathAdder is by far larger than the Diamondback and the Copperhead and resembles products from the Microsoft Explorer series (the MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0, to be exact), especially with the rear part design. This is not surprising as I’ll explain in the section about the Microsoft Habu.
...
After a detailed description of the Razer DeathAdder above there is little I can add about the Habu because the two mice are identical in terms of ergonomics. By the way, the specification and photograph of the device are enough to realize the contribution of each company to the end product: it is in fact a Razer Copperhead in the case of the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0.

Koreans use the DT-35 because it has the barest of essential input keys and none of those additional multimedia/email keys that a lot of other keyboards have. It's just a keyboard and nothing more, no special ergonomic design, no useless web browsing features, just a keyboard. That, and they're cheap.

Yea and it appears to be vulture micro. Maybe TvP to find weaknesses? :D

Anyways, cool post. Seems like all progamers use pretty much the same keyboard and mouse. So I guess we can rule out that the equipment is what separates a bonjwa from a scrub

i love how all the superduper 100dollar razer mice get praised as gamermice, and everyone wants keyboards with glowing keys with displays n shit. and than the pix.

wasnt there a thread here not too long ago someone wanted to order that keyboard for 80 dollars or something. i have one of those at home, there is absolutely zero difference to my shitty microsoft keyboard that came with the computer. pros use it because they have 400 apm and play 10 hours a day. its clunky and sturdy and easily replaceable.

TL;DR:
For the best input devices for Starcraft, I'd certainly put more weight in what the pros use than anything some random schlub like me would say. But there are reasons sometimes to use something else, and that something else is hopefully not going to suck for Starcraft

there is absolutely zero difference to my shitty microsoft keyboard

Pretty much agreed about the glowing stuff and extra keys on keyboards. Which is why, if I splurged on a "gamer" keyboard I'd get the Steelseries 7g I mentioned earlier. Nothing extra there. So why bother with it instead of a cheapy Microsoft KB? Try pressing, for example, q-w-a-s at the same time on yours. Not going to happen.

There are very very few keyboards that can handle any combo of keys you throw at it. 7g is one. The Filco Majestouch FKBN104M/EB is another. I believe another is the Topre Realforce ML0100. That's pretty much all I can find. They're all rated for 50 million keystrokes and up. All of these are pretty plain looking (and the Topre has no Win key), but expensive. They're also hard to order from the US, except for the 7g.

Stepping down some, there's also the Raptor K1 which claims to have it as well, though in practice its USB interface limits it to 6 at once. Razer's Tarantula is similar with it's anti-ghosting, but is still limited by USB. To me these are your standard blingy gaming KBs and I don't think I'd bother. Backlit keys would be nice for darkened rooms, but the added complexity is not necessarily a good thing. For darkened rooms I bring a headlamp lol

Anyway, full n-key rollover is not needed/wanted/missed by most people. You don't really need it for Starcraft. So unless you are doing something else with it where you would want that feature, it totally makes sense to go with a standard layout cheaper keyboard. Obviously the pros feel that way.
razer and razer optic and lazer is bullshit

esreality disagrees. At least, depending on which of Razer's mouses you go for. Check the graphs and see why I got the Deathadder (which did admittedly have some problems before some firmware updates). Super fast tracking speed isn't as necessary for Starcraft of course, but as with my keyboards I consider that Starcraft isn't the only game I play (I do a lot of FPS). Others will obviously differ.

Anyway, there's why I'd consider a more expensive KB. For pure Starcraft, don't bother. That's about all i can add to this thread.
