-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - patch 1.16.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feature Changes
- In-game chat is now saved in replays. Note: whispers are not saved. - Hitting the Escape key while in the chat room will clear your typed text. - "/reply" (or just "/r") will send a whisper to person who most recently whispered you.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed localization issues with "from" and "to" in whispers. - Starcraft now only uses as much CPU as it needs to run smoothly.
Exploits
- Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to gain minerals through mutations. - Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to recycle an upgrading building. - Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to extend their creep with a drone. - Fixed an exploit which allowed Zerg players to move Drones over impassable terrain. - Fixed an exploit which allowed Terran players to drop a nuke anywhere on the map. - Fixed an exploit which allowed players to pause the game while in the pre-game lobby.
It's about time they fix some of these exploits. Awesome new update. ^ ^

why dont they ever fix the reaver bug, and the dragoon bug its annoying as hell

I was willing to bet my hat that they didn't patch it again, too.

PARTY TIME, WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Does this mean I don't need CPU savior anymore?
|
WTH blizzard what about ICCUP now, ill have to wait for it to upgrade to 1.16? btw hey Thanks dudes, you rule, might love us very hard
|
Hmm so I should not connect to bnet until iccup has updated their launcher?
edit: the notes looks good, I love how they actually patch brood war still!

baahh now i needs to wait for chaos to update

I was like begging in the b.net forums for them to fix the CPU problem ever since 1.15.3 came out
awesome patch

doesnt that mean they cant use mineral hack anymore?? or can this be bypassed also?

i just noticed something with the /r response...
everytime i type a word that has a second letter of 'r', as in 'ur' it whispers the message. no matter what character i put infront of the r, as long an r is in the second character place the message gets whispered....intenesly annoying...
anyone else noticed this problem??

Props to Blizzard I'm hoping for new units in the next patch ^.^
|
if its true what guilty said, i assume we'll have 1.16.1 soon
i just tried it and he's right...lol
|
Fuck, does this mean reps dont work?
|
Guilty is correct. =/
If a two letter word with the second letter 'r' is typed, the rest of the message is whispered to the last person to whisper you.
|
what a sick patch, especially replay with text
been missing that since bwlauncher died

they'll probably fix that in yet another patch pretty soon

Aesop, that's wrong. The word has to only be two letters, the second being R and then a space.

Wow this is actually awesome! First patch in a while that I actually cared about.
Fixed a lot of the available hacks and even added useful things like /r and replay with text.
That's fantastic, though if only they had included first person replay if they were going to release replay with text anyways
Welll in any case HOORAY FOR NO MORE MINERAL HACKS

wasnt /r usable already like in d2 and war3? or just till now for BW?

They didn't change anything ingame, so old replays shouldn't be corrupted, right?

Saw this gem on the BWHacks forum to see if Oblivion was updated for the new patch.
I actually like a lot of the new features blizzard added. So what if they fixed the mineral hack, I got bored of using that months ago. Good riddens I say! It made meele with hacks rather boring. Maphack still adds an edge of competitive fun to the game.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
|
For the few people who want the minor bugs fixed think of this:
Dragoon Freeze: Annoying yes also happens to all units when they receive to many commands at one time. Most people who have used dragoons enough learned already how to avoid this.
Reavers Scarab: Would you really like an overpowered unit with no excitement value remaining?
Valks: It's a sprite limit only happens in UMS and 8 players. Does not effect 1v1's.
|
Lol, the problem with r as the second character is probably because some newbie programmer at blizz did something like this:
if (text[1] == 'r') callWhisper...
that lazy fucker needs to check if the first character, text[0] == '/' as well.

I thought of it for a while... yet my opinion didn't change. You aren't supposed to try to do workarounds every game just because there's a bug in it. Can't see why you would possibly petition not to fix it.

I'd love to see them integrate Chaos' low-latency feature (as an option). Pretty sure it would be very straightforward to do on their end.

patch is garbage
bnet lags like shit
i really dont understand why blizz can't implement lan lat on bnet....bnet is built for 1998, not 2009. Nobody has an average 14.4kbs connection anymore. Playing on bnet with this patch is terrible
can't use AH on iccup with the 1.15 executable, needs to be completely reverse patch

Just in case we're particularly impatient, does anyone know if we can do a separate installation of SC so we can have a 1.15 and a 1.16 install?
I'll check later but I hope that you can still just swap exe's to watch older reps.

I feel like everyone who is praising this hasn't actually played with it. The way Blizzard implemented CPU savior results in ridiculous and stupid clientside CPU lag. It's hardly playable. My mouse lags like I'm playing some sort of next gen FPS when it's just SC. When I reverted to 1.15 and go on ICCUP, my mouse is perfectly fine and everything is fine.

And its a laggy bitch everywhere. It's good to know that you're behind blizzard 100%. I'd be proud to patch a 10-year old game that you play.
Just because they give it to you doesn't mean you have to be grateful. The patch is very buggy and ruins the bnet experience for a huge number of people. They'll fix it, I'm sure, but there's no point in pretending it's great, because if we did that then blizzard wouldn't fix it.

Yes, when we get something that is extremely buggy, we tell the creators it's buggy. It doesn't mean you're ungrateful. I'm sure everyone would be much happier if we just kept 1.16 with no fixes until the next patch, right.

Wow the patch makes SC lag? Ok definitely not going near this one...

If you want to de-patch it install this : Starcraft
just extract it in the starcraft folder and replace the 1.16.0 with it.

Dunno if this helps at all, but the patch seems to modify the following files in the SC directory:
Starcraft.exe battle.snp standard.snp storm.dll bnupdate.exe patch_rt.mpq
Presumably you'd need to replace these (not just Starcraft.exe) with their 1.15.3 equivalents to revert.

There are still no posts in the battle.net forums about the lag issue that I see 60 people here complaining about. If you don't post it on their forums, they don't know there is a problem.
The technical support forum is here: http://forums.battle.net/board.html?forumId=12014&sid=3000
I suggest someone who is having problems starts a thread describing the lag situation, then EVERYONE else who is having the same issue reply to that post. It could be the difference between it being fixed in a couple days or it being fixed in a couple months. Right now the only threads about the patch mention a minor bug that doesn't affect gameplay and user-side installation issues. That means Blizzard thinks their patch is fine.

Getting low CPU consumption right while using GetTickCount isn't easy, and it seems like blizzard made some mistake. It took R1CH several versions of his CPU-Savior to get it to work without any lag.

Will this make ANYONE play on bnet instead of ICC? nah.
Blizzard needs to either: - stop producing patches completely and let us know we are on our own.
or: - fix the damn game whenever something needs to be fixed so we can actually rely on them.
The way they are doing it now, by releasing a patch every 6 months or so, they are preventing the community to take things in its own hands and are giving us false hope we can count on them.
If you ask me, all this patch did is steal a weak or two of playing ICCup.
Anyone willing to enlighten me on what's so swiiiit about this patch?
If they did the latency thing, it would have been HUGE.

Don't know if you fixed it yet, but what I did was to just download that complete SC off of ICCUP like you did, unextract, and drag all the files in the entire SC folder over my own. Make sure you save your stardat.mpq and broodat.mpq though, those have your cdkeys in them. You have to extract and drag, not copy paste.
I see texas already gave links to the three files that matter, I was just copying over everything

(rephrasing previous posts to make it simpler.)
For the ones who accidentally downloaded the new patch, you can go to iCCup and download their version of starcraft (which still has the old patch).
Next, after its done, you should make a copy of your original "C:\Program Files\Starcraft" file, just in case anything screws up.
Afterward, you can "delete" everything in your starcraft program file that aren't maps or replays or w/e. You can just copy and paste all the stuff in your previously dled iCCUp version of starcraft.
To summarize,
1. Download iCCup starcraft on their site. 2. *optional, but recommended* make a copy of "C:\Program Files\Starcraft" for safekeeping. 3. Delete everything in "C:\Program Files\Starcraft". 4. copy and paste everything from iCCup's starcraft file to "C:\Program Files\Starcraft" .
If you launch the iCCup launcher afterwards, you should have no problem. The antihack should be on (and therefore lan latency) and the old patch should still be there.
Hope this helps. x)

How long until Blizzard fixes the /r and lag with 1.16.1?

This patch is absolutely ridiculous.

the whole cpu hog thing isn't even that important anymore consider most people now days have duo-core.

I read all the posts and here's a new possible issue. My friend and I both updated to the new patch, he's running Windows, I'm using OSX. Whenever we play a game on UDP it works perfectly fine (I haven't seen this lag people are talking about), BUT, then after about 10-15 minutes his computer just freezes and he's dropped from the game. We tried this like 5 times and each time the same thing happened. So annoying.
I want to believe it's just that his computer sux, I mean it doesn't have a graphics card, just a chipset...but we used to play before this patch no problem so it's possible that it was the patch that messed things up.
|
if you can reproduce the bug I'm sure Blizzard would like to hear about it.

Think it's about time for BW 2.0
...oh wait...
|
Hmm, I'm having trouble updating to 1.16.
When I enter bnet, it hangs at "Connecting to fastest server" without even saying anything about an update. I downloaded the patch manually, but then apparently there's a problem with a checksum in staredit.exe that prevents me from applying it.
My version of Starcraft is the digital download offered from the Blizzard online store, which I think may play a part here. Anyone got any ideas?

I did read through it, but after trying all the methods which I saw posted (uninstall/reinstall, manually patch, redownload if there's no CD, use Chaos while updating), none of them worked. If I missed something, I apologize.
Also I looked through the first few pages of the forum but didn't find any threads related to the issue. Once again, if I missed something, I apologize.
EDIT: As it turns out, I did miss a thread on page 3. Sorry about that. There's a couple more things to try there which I'll check out.
