EDIT - wrong section, meant to put this in the BW section. Could someone move it for me?
I play with some people at school in my comp science class and basically we end up doing me and my Korean friend vs. around 4-6 of them. We usually get spanked, but it's good fun and it keeps them playing SC (instead of stupid DotA).
Anyways we always play Hunters (not BGH) because it seems very balanced for 8 players. But looking through the Blizzard maps for some variety, I couldn't find anything worth playing.
So does anyone know/have any good, balanced, low-money (standard mins/gas) 8-player maps? I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Huntress is good for 6, and there's been two pro 6player maps: Deep Purple (which is reminiscent of Huntress) and DMZ (lol)

The first two are just variations of Hunters. DMZ was just retarded, on the pro level anyway.

Yeah, this is a recurrent thread ; I asked the same question some time ago. I made this pack of 20 maps. We had a fun time back then

I asked this in a previous thread, but it seems that seems like is a better place to ask this:
Are there any 3v3/4v4 maps where each team shares an area? I played wc3 for a while and I remember in 3v3 your team would "share" a base (have your own resource areas/build areas but share like two chokes which go into the shared area) and it made defending rushes a lot easier and encouraged teamwork even in the early game. I don't play team BW games much so I dunno if such a map exists, but I think it'd be nice to have this in large team games to defend against the almost inevitable 4v1 zeal/ling rush.

Well if you like sharing a base, there's nothing like a good Team Melee game It's a gamee mode you can choose from StarCraft on any map before creating a multiplayer game ; it's like a one-player game, except you are 2 working on the base at the same time : one base but 2 (or more) controllers so one can handle the macro while the other takes care of the micro

God I was playing hunters with my roommate the other day, and it just pissed me off. It's like "doo de doo taking my expansion.... hey where's the gas? Oh that's right, this spot DOESN'T FUCKING GET A GAS at the expo... meanwhile the guy at 12 basically has TWO natural expos WITH GAS, if there's noone there at 11.

He means maps where there's an initial top vs bottom setting made, in order to reduce the random positions randomness.

It's possible, but you'd end up with a Blizzard-style UMS allied map. Another two fun maps, while not being entirely balanced but good for 3v3/4v4 are Razor Thicket and Jungle Rumble.

Winter Conquest is pretty much my favorite 6 player map ever. Although some might find the lack of minerals per base a little frustrating since we're all spoiled 
But yeah another one out of the top of my head is azure plains

the maps here look good but i dont know if anyone on bnet would join a 3v3 map that isnt hunts/bgh or fastest 
just loaded up new gettsyburg which was a 6 player map that was enjoyable back in the day , it has 9 starting minerals per location.strange cos i could have sworn it used to be 6.....
