v1.1 supports maximal 3 watchers use at one time enjoy
The following text is readme:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
playrep v1.1 for broodwar 1.08b-1.15.2(CD/HD)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This program allow you to save the game when watching BW rep, which likes when you are combatting online. In the other words, by playrep, you can really "enter into" those great reps, to continue those endless galaxy legend. My program does not considered all the aspects automatically, so you must follow my instructions strictly, otherwise, the BW may be crashed Now, v1.1 supports 2 or 3 watchers use at one time (the condition for 3 watchers use is that the rep has 3 players (include obs) at least). I think 3 watchers-mode will be very useful for 1v1 match drop - 2 players and 1 ob can use this software to finish the game.
Usage: 1 Run BW, begin watching a rep at online mode (2 or 3 watchers). 2 Run playrep.exe, click "Enable". If you are the game creator, please have "player1" checked, otherwise, have "player2" or "observer" checked. 3 Switch to the rep, the creator call the main menu, save. 4 Switch to playrep before exit the rep, click "Disable". 5 Now you can use the save file (.mlx) to play.
E-mail me if you find a bug in playrep: nonsensical@mail.com interplanetaryloafer@hotmail.com
Thanks for: * BWRepLib by JCA (http://www.bwchart.com/) * StormLib by Ladislav Zezula (http://www.zezula.net/)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Log:
v1.1 - fixed a bug that program couldn't function properly in some versions of broodwar - support maximal 3 watchers use at one time
v1.0 - dynamic injection, don't need replace starcraft.exe - support broodwar 1.08b-1.15.2
v1.0 beta1 - first release
only blue 2008-3-1

awesome. everybody should kick off his posting career like this. :D
|
Wow, lots of nice utilities coming out for BW lately Nice job!
|
So basically this lets you create a saved game between two observers from any point of a replay you two are watching? Do you have to have been the original players in the replay, or does it work with replays of other people?
|
playrep ignore the difference between 'players' and 'obs'. It's just get top 3 players(obs) by theri action-count as save-file's object.

I don't understand. What does this thing do? : O
|
|
I think it lets you save at any point in a rep, and load it like a saved multiplayer game.

Unfortunately that is not the case T_T

Bisu vs July moment. I bet OGN or MSL would pay for something like this
|
Hahahah this is brilliant! Finally all those dumbasses who think they could have extricated themselves from some position in a game can put up or shut up!
|
This will be very useful those offline tournaments finals or like OGN/MBC games where it suddenly disconnects and it has to be replayed. For example, July vs Bisu in bifrost. July pretty much won but they were asking if he can replay the game(eventually July got the win) they can restart from the disconnect point and finish the game up.
|
when i try to enable it says conflicting sc path
|
If that is indeed what it does, then holy shit, this is pure gold!
|
Oh my god, I love you.
Gemo reppin' China!
Thanks!!!

Time to re-emulate Goodfriend vs July on Forte :D

That's the first thing that popped into my head GTR.

quick question, do all players in the rep need this program for it to work?

Taking theorycrafting to a whole new level! Now we don't have to bicker about what could've been if we can get our hands on the reps of the games.
|
This is seriously so sick I want to try this out later and reenact some progamer madness.
|
yea, this reminds me of scenarios. Watching a pro rep, and then saving it, and you and a friend finishing the game, see if you can do what they did. Or win from a losing position like the pro did, etc. interesting. I hope people test this
|
koreans should get a hold of this and make a event where pro players replay certain points from important games where they think that one little mistake cost them the game, a very cool thing you have made

I don't believe you! So a spark ran through my mind - if only there was such a tool that enables you to Save the .rep file at specific moment into the Save file, wouldn't it be great? Like Rep2Map tool, but Rep2Save, for example. For the training purposes and for fun of course. Then one can try that gosu things that we all have watched. Wouldn't you be temptated to try to lockdown 9-10 Battles for 1-2 sec? Or to blind 5-6 observers for the same time? Or to do "The Million Man March"? Or "Trial Of Tears"? Or to try to do any of the great comebacks, even against a comp? Yes, the computer won't react like a man, but anyway. Also different strategies can be tested and the results seen. Yeah, I know that in BW hiding your intensions is vital, and observe the opponent is crucial but ... So, what do you think?

Wow, this sounds unbelievable. Can't wait to try it out.
The OP seemed a bit difficult to understand at first, tho maybe it's just me.
|
Omfg, this ist just so unbelievably ingenious!
Great for practicing "Flash-comebacks" xD
My friends are gonna dig this. Everyone will ^^

It's actually Trail of Tears but i love dream theater also <3<3<3 ! ! !
btw, I'll download this ASAP:D
|
So wait, this only works if there is two people right?
|
After figuring out what this does...
sounds amazing.
|
Why isnt this on featured threads?
|
Yeah, currently this doesn't seem to work with a computer as the other player, as it is a multiplayer savegame.
|
Really cool program, chinese english is so cute sometimes though.

On March 03 2008 04:16 GoSuPlAyEr wrote: when i try to enable it says conflicting sc path
can anyone help me with why this happens? what am i doing wrong?

to GoSuPlAyEr: 'conflicting sc path' means the path of SC you are running is different from the path of SC in the Windows Registry. For CD version, reinstall it at all; for HD version, just run the setup.exe in the path of SC you are running.
to Evilmonkey: playrep v1.1 supports 2 or 3 people use at one time.
to skindzer: What's mean for 'featured threads'?
to Drowsy: Please teach me native English, thanks. I love English.
And, Is there anyone good at both English and Korean? Could you post it in Korean-bbs?
|
Hmm, get this compatible for use of a 2v2 and it'll be even better
|
|
|
wait, one question, this requires another real-player, right?

Does anyone want to try this playrep with me?
masami.sc thinks this program is "stupid"

gemo: I've asked HonestTea if he could post it on the Korean forums. I (or HonestTea himself) will let you know if something happens.
As for featured threads, they are simply threads that get placed in a different forum. These threads are always threads of a high quality, or contain something very useful, so skindzer asked the site moderators why this hasn't been placed in the featured threads forum yet.
This program looks amazing!

I will TRULY be amazed if a replay program comes out where you can REWIND in a replay. Now that would be freaking gosu.

Haha, true. But think about all those progames where the player gets disconnected. With this program you can simply save the replay, load it back up, and play from where he got disconnected. Seems like it could be useful.
At the very least it will allow you to recreate those famous battles you've always wanted to try out, which sounds like a lot of fun.
It coud even be used to practise certain situations, like save a game from a good point at the start where both players have expanded. That way you can practise mid game macro or whatever. This program has so many posibillities!
|
so you can fix disconnect issues in clanwars then by resuming the game with the replay and this program?
|
The only issue I can think of in Clan Wars is that, when the players join the replay in order to resave it, they'll both be able to see all of the other persons units and buildings (secret expos as an example) that existed at the point that someone dropped

But that's not enforcible over bnet so i guess it's only useful in organised live events like korean leagues.

I think it's on problem. When a game drop happens, for example, July vs Bisu, there is 3 possibility: 1 They both think that the situation at drop-point seems all square, so they can play off a match or use playrep to continue the rep. 2 July consider he had have a crucial advantage already. And Bisu had agree with he. So the result is determinate. 3 July consider he had have a crucial advantage already, he won't play off a match. But the problem is that Bisu hadn't agree with he, sitll he thinks he got chance. In this case, the best way is use playrep.

holy shit this is amazing GJ!

Thanks alot china!

OMG this is so GOSU!
someone needs to edit the OP to make it more understandable. And move this to featured FFS!
|
Has anyone gotten this to work? I just spent over an hour and have no idea how to get it working, the directions seem unclear. I've gotten it to let me save a .mlx file, but that file doesn't work for hosting games on bnet, it won't let anyone join it when I try.
|
Did you save the file while others were watching the rep with you? I think that's how it works

you need to do it with a friend, so it'll save on their comp too
the same mlx wont work, mlx are specific to player slots

Friend has Conflicting SC Path and has tried the Chaoslauncher and regedit but nothing =/

Is this amazing person still around to update for 1.15.3? or could someone try and do it?
|
Woah don't know how I missed this first time round. This sounds pretty amazing.

|
I *think* it means that you can watch a replay with someone and then at any given moment assume the roles of the players and plat the game from there yourself.

You have to play it with all players as humans afaik.

This concept is really cool. Hopefully the author updates, or someone takes the concept and creates a Chaos plugin.

Bump; I wonder if we'll ever get an update? This would be quite useful =/
|
LOL I was *just* thinking about this thread the other day. I remember being pissed that nobody thought it was cool.
|
This definitely never received the buzz it should have gotten. Half the posts in here are staff! Amazing program.
|
what in the FUCK!
i've never heard about this?
are you serious? this is AMAZING!!!
|
Too bad MoC didn't get the source code from him and make it into a chaosplugin. That would have been unreal. It's sad when great things die, especially when they were never fully appreciated.

Yeah, I found out about this after the fact as well. This would be so awesome if someone figured out how to replicate this thing.

I think the main problem was everyone who saw it was like "THIS IS AWESOME" then never used it and forgot about it after an hour.
I'm one of those people and I know a few of my friends were like that.

This is one of the worst OPs I've ever seen, it's probly the reason why many people missed this piece of pure gold.
If you're one of those who just glances over a post, kind of like quick reading, you're likely to disregard this.
|
very awesome can't wait to try it out
|
There is a new release for version 1.16.1. I wrote an email to the guy and he sent it to me. I would like to put it here but I cant figure out how ......
|
I think you can't post threads until after a certain amount of posts/time. But holy shit, I've never heard of this program until now WTF! I could've had this two years ago, taking any point in a replay and playing it over again, so sick.
|
Oh crap theres a new one? I remember really wanting to use this but I couldn't because it wasn't updated or something o.O
