if i ask flash if he watches horse porn and he says no and it comes out that he actually does watch horse porn, can we blame him for lying? no. because it's personal.

What business are they in again? They earn a living streaming videogames to admirers, it’s very much up to their audiences if they feel they’ve betrayed them, or that admiration is diminished. I genuinely don’t understand why you’re conflating people watching horse porn in their private time and not wanting that public knowledge with chatting about investing in some crypto where they had a relationship with the person launching it, while lying about investing in it. It’s nothing to do with business savvy or experience, fuck sake just take a second to realise many of your young audience hero worship you and tread carefully, it’s a very asymmetrical parasocial relationship, wield what power you have responsibly. On the other hand, burning Flash and Bisu at the stake is absolutely over the top, people go to bloody ridiculous lengths seeking absolute retribution these days. End of the day if streaming is your job, be professional in how you go about it and don’t piss your audience off. Not that hard.

he did not do anything to validate such feelings. just because they feel it does not mean it is valid or that anyone should care. for you to say him lying about investing it is wrong implies he has a responsibility to tell the truth about his financial habits, you see friend?

Sorry, but this comment and the info that you're presumably from Russia made me think of what the character of professor Valery Legasov in the Tchernobyl-series said about the role of systemic lying in the Soviet Union... + Show Spoiler + I'm NOT saying that all russians are liars or anything (edit: or that confusedzerg is a soviet), and I know that that series is only reality-based fiction, but I would assume that if a society were locked into a totalitarian system of institutionalized contortion of reality by the governing party for decades, statistically, that would have to leave some marks on the way people handle the matter of lying and telling the truth... Similarly, living in a society of institutionalized greed like in capitalism does something to the way people treat each other btw, put monetary wealth above all other values or so. "What does it matter if someone lies or not? It's personal." So you don't trust anyone, period? Truth and trust are overrated? I guess you cannot feel betrayed then but it's kind of depressing... But the point is: There are personal matters that you can lie about (if you're not morally intriqued yourself) because they don't cause anyone any harm, and there are matters that matter to the public where lying equals committing fraud or abusing the public's justified trust. I really admire Flash as a player and want this whole thing to be forgiven and forgotten, but if he deceived and lied to the public in a matter of public interest then he has to be criticised for it. Not more not less.

asking someones financial habits is a personal matter that you can lie about. but you clearly do not agree. this is not something that can be measured objectively. it's up to the individual and their personal morals. i think that if you base your major financial decisions off of what others do rather than your own research then you deserve whatever is coming to you. you think that people who blindly follow others should not be blamed. that is okay. why not put the country you are from?

He does not have a duty to disclose his finances at the demands of his stream no, if he brings a particular topic regarding investing into his stream then he has a duty to be honest about the various aforementioned factors. I don’t understand why this distinction is difficult to get. If you don’t think such a distinction is important or that streamers have no ethical obligations whatsoever, well they still depend on their audience’s goodwill to earn them money. Even from a purely self-interested, utterly amoral perspective it is not sensible to shit where you eat, so to speak.

This post is like a gentle flower, growing on the scorched battlefield that is the BW forum, the coingate-threads in particular. Big kudos. I'm saddened by being so amazed by it...
